JayPee Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Nice! Show me... Oh and, what do I make of these Intel coolers that come with a CPU? I know for example that a local supplier sells 4770Ks including a cooler, and 4820Ks without one. But since the difference in price is 10 bucks I assume the cooler is worthless? Even though it comes with a CPU which is aimed at overclockers... i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory

It is bad if you want to overclock (it's fine if you don't), however I'm running i5 4670K 4.2 OC without any thermal issues ATM (waiting for the budget to recover from the shock :)). I'm able to do this only because of the above average CPU I've got - it requires only 1.1 V to run stable @4.2. Get an aftermarket cooler! Edited January 23, 2014 by danilop

Ive noticed that the real reason why it overclocks hot is because the past few generations didnt let you tweak the bclk. If you raise the bclk instead of the core multiplier, you will get drastically lower temps. As it is, with my cooler and my delidded processor, I get 60c load temps overclocked at 4.5ghz w/ 1.29v on the core. Thats MORE than reasonable, if you ask me. Pikey Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I picked up an ASUS fatality last year and it was the core of the best home build i've done in the last 15 years. It overclocked an older i5 to 4.0 with one click. I bought an MSI for 30 euros last Novemeber and the board wouldnt allow a larger cooler to fit on the board. I'm liking my ASUS, it was the more expensive part of the build. But there is an undeniably large cost spread on boards that render me confused too. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
