Poutine Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Hi all, First post here... but have been peeking here for a while So, Thought I'd give this sim another try over the holiday break (had bought it 5/2012 and got overwhelmed: I blame the MS Sidewider2) and well, have been immersed in it ever since. So much so that in the last 30 days I picked up the TM HOTAS, Saitek combat pedals and expect a TrackIR5 in the mail this week. SO thank you all for making me broke jk Anyways, To get up to speed, I've been using the training lesson and solely running the Easy - East Georgia - Spring mission until I am comfortable with the basics, else I'd revisit the training lessons when my piles of notes fails me... As such I've been pretty much setting up the GUB-12 just like in the training mission Just a prior to the latest update I was finding that the guided bomb (GUB-12) kept missing the targets by a significant mark. I quickly discovered that the my settings were not being saved in the weapon profile page after I set it up. Typical setup Mousing/clicking sequence: -DSMS Status Page via the OSB or HOTAS -Select a GUB-12 weapon (one of both) -PROF via OSB1 -MODE CCIP to CCRP via OSB10 and verify -CHG SET via OSB16 -AUTO LS set to ON -LS TIME I've been setting 11 or 22 (same button: Yes I"m that lazy..) -SAVE Life goes on from there Here is what I am finding: What I need to do the above steps (or similar) process a few times before it takes. eg When I change CCIP to CCRP and it shows CCRP on the display I select SAVE and move to another page and back. The setting had reverts back to CCIP. I repeat this two or three time and then the setting is set and all it good. I had hoped that the updated release would have fix this but it didn't. I'm m not sure how to resolve this as it interface looks to be working but the setting is not being saved in the software. Has anyone in this community had similar issues with this minor annoyance? After you have saved the profile you must access the saved profile for the GBU12 in flight by selecting it in the weapons menu using the OSB1 button after opening your DSMS page. If you activate the weapon from the DSMS page only it will not activate your saved profile. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MadCow Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 You can also cycle through your weapon profiles by using DMS left and right, but you have to be in CCIP or CCRP mode I believe. I'm a little rusty, about to get back into it myself. But I believe that's correct. Click your Master Mode button until you're in either one of those fire modes, have your HUD set as SOI, then left or right DMS to cycle through them. When I was flying every day (a year+ ago) I would set my GBU-12 profile settings during startup, then I wouldn't even touch the OSB buttons for weapon profile selections unless I needed to make a specific change to how an ordinance was used.
Flagrum Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 If you go to the settings page by selecting a weapon first, you only create a temporary "manual" profile. This is only active as long as you don't change the profile (i.e. by selecting an other pylon - wether it carries the same type of ordnance or not). Such a manual profile is indicated by a preceding "M/". To change the settings of all weapons of the same type, you should navigate to the profile selection page (without any pylon selected(!): OSB 1 from DSMS main page), select the profile and go to the details page (OSB 3 "VIEW PRO").
Poutine Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 I wondered what "M/" meant So I went over the set up in the Guided Bomb Training again and followed along up to where the lesson swaps the TAD page and the lesson goes on. Took a quick peak at the DSMS page and noticed that the "VIEW PRO" had all of the settings that were registered by the "lesson/instructor" for the GUB-12 were lost. If the program can see the input why isn't is saved? S'pose I'll unplug this new gear and give that a whirl...
