The 10thGunFighters virtual squadron presents new chart packages for the DCS flight simulation (v1.2.4+): - Aerodrome (Ground) Charts for DCS: A-10C and Flaming Cliffs 3 - Visual Approach and Departure (VAD) Charts for DCS: A-10C - Visual Approach and Departure (VAD) Charts for FC3 aircraft (new) To do justice to the current development of the DCS series and the permanent requests regarding a FC3-specific version, the charts have been adjusted accordingly during the last few months. Therefore this new version is centered entirely on compatibility to Flaming Cliffs 3. An update to the charts was also necessary after the decision to make our squadron-internal software accessible to a broader audience. A special feature that we would like to point out in this context is the full integration of the GND charts in the soon-to-be-released Aries ATC simulation. The charts have been exported in the ATC software using geocoding. The USAF has MK-83 warheads in stockpile, this is a fact as it forms the backbone of the largest GBU ordinance that will fit in an F-22, the USAF has used the MK-83 in history and yes it did give most of them up to the USN/USMC at one time, ergo the MK-83 warhead is in the USAF inventory under one of its pseudonyms and given the nose and tail sections of the GBU’s are essentially retrofit to MK-8# LDGP’s it would be no big step in times of operational need to fit MK-83/BLU-110/GBU derivatives under A-10 in the field if operating from a joint USAF/USN/USMC base. If you want to play the “real world card” then why is the MK-83 missing from the US Navy/etc aircraft in-game, oh and while were at it what’s a USN carrier doing in the black sea, you have a dam sight more chance of MK-83 etc on an A-10 than that ever happening! Did I call him “dumb” no, I said “You would have to be extremely dumb to preclude the use of MK-83 or derivative GBU from compatibility of a launch platform such as the A-10/F-16 even if its not the normal every day payload/inventory.” one assumes he is a minion in the USAF rather than the person/s who decides anything of any major importance in the grand scheme of things therefore wont be privy of absolutely all circumstance or operational “what ifs” over the years and would be the logic shared by many people both in and out of service though it would be a different matter if there was a technical consideration like “we don’t use MK-83/BLU-110 ever on USAF A-10 etc plane because when you do the wings fall off yet strangely don’t with MK-84‘s” :smilewink:2 points

Recently I have been doing some mission recordings using FRAPS. Ive been doing them as I play the mission so FRAPS records everything that is in the screen. This weekend I was trying to pull some outside the cockpit action from the .trk files, but the radio menus showed up in the .trks along with the radio calls from wingmen and other flights. I did a search to see if there was an easy way of getting rid of them but there really isn't. I decided to poke around in the different files to see if I could get rid of them, and I believe I have succeeded! I think these are the main four things that need to be edited if you want to completely get rid of the text on the screen. Here are the four and the names of the files that need to be edited (there may be more but these are the ones I needed to get rid of for my video :) ) 1) Annoying radio stuff at the top left that you usually get when contacting ATC, JTAC, Tankers, Etc. --- dialogs_bar.res 2) If you have subtitles enabled, they will still be in the .trk even if you turn off subtitles before playing the trk. --- log.res 3) The radio menus --- menu.res 4) If you did an instant action or a mission that has pop-up messages or dialog --- Track-Subtitles.res The Track-Subtitles.res file is in the /Eagle Dynamics/DCS A-10C/FUI/Resources folder, the other three are in the /Eagle Dynamics/DCS A-10C/FUI/Resources/Radio folder. First thing to do is backup all of these files! These are the edits I did using notepad++: dialogs_bar.res: For each value of coord{w, x, y, z}, I changed them all to coord{0, 0, 0, 0} log.res: changed the value under \multicolumnlistbox\begin coord{w, x, y, z}, to coord{0, 0, 0, 0} menu.res changed line 4 to \coord{1024, 0, 1024, 768}, changed line 16 to \coord{2, 0, 0, 0}, changed line 27 to \coord{0, 50, 0, 0} Although I didnt change the Track-Subtitles.res file to check, I am sure if you edit the second coord value in line 15 to \coord{0, 0, 0, 0} it should work. Just remember to replace the unmodified files when you want to have the menus back when you fly the sim1 point

Hi again. This time I've made a skin that could be considered half fictional and half real. The half fictional is because there is/were no A-10Cs serving at the Spanish Air Force. The half real is because this scheme was used in real life by the Mirages III that served at the 11nd Fighter Wing at Manises. And in fact this skin is for that FW. The logos are the real ones. Hope you like it. And here you have the new skin with the ones made before. Un Saludo!1 point

In the default TAD screen, north is indicated by a small triangular caret on one of the range circles. Otherwise, as Zamboni says, use EXP1 and 2, they are very useful for maneuvering the map away from your own a/c position when needed.1 point
-
Yes it is possible. The china hat switch is the one to use. It gives various TAD "maps" including pointing it north:) Sorry for not being more :)specific1 point

Thanks. :-) I working on some other mod too. Such as SA-3 S-125 Pechora complex with some extra vehicle + acessory for FC2.1 point

Good stuff. :) I've also been thinking about SSD's, but I really want the $/GB to go down a bit further first. Since I expect a 2 year lifespan for my machine (it will take serious willpower not to get an Ivy Bridge when they come, but hey :P ) I guess that could make a good MLU come January or February. :) A possible help for your HDD maintenance would be the (payware) program Ultimate Defrag. This can allow you to ensure that your simulator folders are consolidated to the fastest portion of the drive with minimum seek span.1 point

This is what I am doing, except that I do not kick but just reroute the network traffic of the offender. From my initial tests about a year ago I found that those LUA call backs are not always accurate and that writing and testing the LUA code was a nightmare. That is why I have made minimal changes to the LUA code and do the rest externally.1 point

Here is an interesting mission to look at. I placed two TV towers 2000 meters in front of you on Tbilisi Lochini airport. These towers are spaced perpendicular to you, and are 35 meters apart. Through the small angle approximation, we know that this means that the angular separation between them is 35/2000 = 0.0175 radians ~= 1 degree. So as you sit on the runway there at the start point, the towers are 1 degree apart. I set the time and date so the sun would be in the same field of view. Here is the screenshot (reduced in size): So the Sun is in fact around 3 degrees across (the size of the sun as seen from like, half of Mercury's distance), and the little gun circle on the top of the HUD is 1 degree across or a little bigger. Again, IRL, the angular diameter of the sun (and moon) is ~0.5 degrees, so the sun is 6X larger across than in real life. The correct size of the sun should be half of the diameter of the fixed gun circle!!! EDIT: Fixed some files, wrong ones uploaded first try. Sun Angular Measurement.miz1 point

Not sure if this will have enough detail for you, but here is a bit of a checklist I use for GBU usage. GBU usage.pdf1 point

This gives me an idea, time travel! DCS:A10C is a simulator after all right? McCoy: You're going to try time traveling in this rust bucket? Kirk: Well, we've done it before. McCoy: Sure, you slingshot around the Sun, pick up enough speed - You're in time warp. If you don't, you're fried. Kirk: I prefer it to nothing. McCoy: I prefer a dose of common sense! You're proposing that we go backwards in time, find humpback whales, then bring them forward in time, drop 'em off, and hope to Hell they tell this probe what to do with itself! Kirk: That's the general idea. McCoy: Well, that's crazy! Kirk: You've got a better idea? [pause] Kirk: Now's the time. If the Starship Enterprise can do it, so can my trusty ED A10C! :pilotfly:1 point

FUBAR is an appropriate term, as I haven't found a way to fix it, as expressed in the thread TheShore04. The first 2 campaigns I finally finished, with a judicious tweak here, and some nip/tuck action in the editor. My quest to complete all 3 is stymied by the brokenness of this one. I may just press on with the rest through singles to see how broken they are, as I am getting a bit burnt out on my own quick missions...1 point

So when are we getting MK-83, GBU-16, GBU-32, MK-77, LAU-61 (19 x 70mm launcher) or the ~36” long nose fuse for the MK-80’s for above ground detonation or the ability to change fuse/timing during ordinance selection/loading?1 point
