  1. I felt compelled to update my topic as I have just had an amazing multiplayer session following the latest open beta update. The introduction of the long awaited Huey multicrew feature seems to have also had a great effect on the L39 and I would assume multicrew in general. A friend and I were flying for two hours, shooting a myriad of approaches, doing aerobatics, spin recovery training and switching controls back and forth constantly and it was smooth as butter and none of the issues mentioned in my original post persisted. It was simply a fantastic experience and I would urge anyone that has experienced similar issues to the one I had in the past to try this out as well.
  2. I think you are making a great point. As a lifelong fan of aviation in general and military aviation in particular I absolutely adore the fact that we get to experience such a variety of planes in this amazing detail. To me, it is about learning and understanding these pieces of history and that also includes the art of flying and employing systems that are not state of the art but had a special place in history. Yes, the 9.12 is not comparable to modern jets. But when it appeared on the stage it was ground breaking for Soviet military aviation in many ways and stunned western observers. And we might get to have a peak into this time in more detail than at least I have ever thought possible. I understand the appeal of the latest and greatest systems but since FBW aircraft of the modern era are deliberately designed to be as easy and unobtrusive to fly as possible with a clear focus on system management, they do not have the same appeal to me personally as screaming down a valley in a cold war warrior feet firmly on the rudder pedals. I sincerely hope that DCS will be able to strike a balance between modern and historic aviation so that we all get to enjoy our favourite era.
  3. Amazing stuff! Really looking forward to this one!
  4. Thank you for the comprehensive update and open communication. It is very much appreciated!
  5. Really good to see you here! Looking very much forward to your upcoming developments. Best of luck!
  6. Thank you for the input! Tried it at 1080p and 1440p and it still happens. 3440x1440 is the native resolution of my monitor.
  7. Hello again, In order to bring my point across as well as I possibly can, I wanted to provide some more input on this issue. I have attached a track and uploaded another video. This time at Youtube, where hopefully the quality will be better. It is sadly quite nauseating and almost makes the Viggen unflyable for me so I am really hoping for some feedback on whether this can be reproduced. I have tried all possible shadow and AA settings and have re-installed the module to no avail. The issue persists. I have also tried all other aircraft I own and can confirm again that they do not have the same issue apart from some normal shimmer induced by the head movement. Again, many thanks in advance for your feedback! Viggen_Cockpit_Flicker.trk
  8. Hi, Having flown some fantastic sessions in the Viggen lately, I have come across a rather annoying flicker or shimmer in the cockpit. More precisely in the white parts and texts of the instrument panel. Now, I am aware that the current forms of anti-aliasing available to us in DCS are somewhat limited and that it is nearly impossible to avoid a bit of flickering and shimmering but this is more than I have seen previously with the Viggen in older versions of DCS and it is also not present nearly like this in any other aircraft I own. I am running the latest stable version 2.5.6.49798 at 3440 x 1440 with MSAA at 2X and anisotropic filtering at 16x plus some additional settings in the Nvidia Control Panel (MFAA, 2X Transparency Supersample at 2X enhanced application AA and Clamp Texture Filtering). This generally gives me great visuals with almost no flicker or shimmering present with good performance. Yet, the Viggen seems to be the exception for me at the moment. I have also tried it with different AA settings but the flicker is always there and happens with both TrackIr and mouse controlled head movement. In order to help you guys understand this issue better I have recorded and uploaded a short video: https://streamable.com/cy4jm1 Especially looking at the white text left and right of the panel and the table in front of the stick it is, in my opinion, quite obvious. (Edit: Sadly, the video quality in full-screen isn't that great. It is however very clear in the normal player) It would be fantastic to get some input if this issue can be replicated by anyone else or indeed Heatblur themselves. It is sadly quite distracting for me and I would be over the moon if this could be fixed or at least mitigated. Since it has only been this strong for me with the latest update, it might have to do something with the lighting changes perhaps? That however is clearly speculation on my part. Thank you in advance for your input and I am always happy to give more information!
  9. Hello there, Having just updated my DCS install to the latest 2.5.6 stable version, I did come across something weird with the MiG-29. I have noticed that looking directly at the nozzles from behind whilst the engines are running causes a huge frame drop. This gets even worse when spooling the engines up. I cap my frames at 95 to always stay in the G-Sync range of my 100HZ monitor and see frame drops down to the 30s and even 20s. Interestingly, if I zoom the camera directly behind the nozzles I instantly go back to my normal smooth fps. I have attached a track showcasing this issue in the hope that it can be replicated and used to solve this minor issue. I am happy to provide more information, if needed. Thank you. 10. Hello, I am a new user in this forum but have been an avid Lock On and DCS player for many years now. Recently, a friend and I have started flying the L39 in multicrew to train him up and have discovered some recurring issues, which I wanted to list here in the hope that this helps the team in solving these. In all cases, I have hosted the private multiplayer session on my PC with a 1 Gbit/s connection and we are in the same country with a ping that never goes above 47. Also, we are both running the latest stable version. The pilot always entered the front cockpit first with the instructor joining in at a later stage as I had read previously that his helps with multicrew issues. Issues we have had are: - Either one or both flaps break off completely. This is certainly the biggest issue we have discovered as this obviously has quite a negative effect on a successful flight. :) I have read the other thread where this issue happens while changing controls between the pilots. In our case, we have never changed controls during these flights and it still happened with both the server host in the front and back cockpit. It mostly happens when lowering the flaps to the intermediate position for landing but has also happened randomly while flying in the air and even during the taxi. We have been training for around two weeks now and I would say it has happened in nearly 50% of the flights so not a rare issue at all. - Airspeed indicator stops working for both pilots after changing control We have only seen this happen after changing control back and forth between the trainee and instructor. The airspeed indicator goes to 0 in both cockpits. Switching off the electrical system for the indication doesn't bring it back - Random black outs and red outs for the cockpit not currently flying This seems to happen at random times and sometimes even on the taxiway. In some of these instances the plane also makes strange movements for the pilot not currently in command until it stabilizes again. Also, during taxi the plane sometimes appears to be sinking into the ground or tipping over for the pilot not in command. All in all, these issues seem to come from some sort of de-sync to me that then exercises some strong forces on the plane once it syncs up again. This seems to be in line with some other reports I have seen. Especially the issue with the flaps breaking off is quite annoying as it can ruin an otherwise great flight in the last few minutes before touchdown. The L39 really is an absolute joy to fly and operate and I sincerely hope, that the team can take a look at and solve this issue to make multicrew training the amazing experience that it can be! Thank you and I am happy to provide more information, should this be needed.
