  1. Sorry meant STLs. Thick8 thanks very much for sharing, I think I will have enough axis and buttons spare on the rudder project I am working on to share Arduino board. New project to add to the print list :) d0ppler, yes I used to fly Hueys briefly 20 years ago. I know my memory may no be perfect but the flight model captures the feel/vibe of the real beast perfectly. Right down to the annoying tendency for me to find myself pointing my nose 20 degrees right on centreline while taxying. (my fault not the aircraft, it is because I don't allow enough for the right skid hanging low.) only fault I have observed is the compressor wine is too loud compared to the rotor noise. I always loved the Huey's rotor sound. Oh and if my copilot ever dared to guard the controls like my virtual copilot does he would have had his arms broken. :)
  2. Excellent work. Well done. Having just taken a massive trip down memory lane by downloading the Huey as free trial I will be purchasing.. Would be interested in the std files if you care to share...
  3. As the previous responses indicate, DCS is very well suited for VR. In fact DCS is probably the most appropriate usage of VR. (seriously who wants to don their VR to watch a 2D movie??) That said VR carries with it many trade offs such as screen door effect, lower "prettiness" and additional time to setup etc. However the immersion cannot be overstated. (First time I closed the a10 Cockpit in VR I actually ducked my head.) As for hardware. Get the best you can afford. But remember the headset is only part of the equation. The better the headset the beefier hardware you need to run it. So you if you can't afford the 2080ti to go with it (or don't have a planned upgrade path that will) don't get the valve index. Similarly don't underestimate the value of a good HOTAS and easy to reach mouse/trackball, as you will find keyboard usage is generally limited to the keys you can identify be feel. I run pretty low end VR setup but works great for me. Ryzen 3600 16GB RAM, GTX1060 running a Lenovo explorer. While I plan to upgrade the GPU when the RTX 30 series arrive my current config runs smooth and am happy to put up with the screen door effect rather than take a second mortgage.
  4. To clarify, I was referring to IRL. I don't think any sim would actively simulate that kind of detail.
  5. I find the spitfire pretty difficult to do AAR..... ;):megalol:
  6. As a VR user I have it on SA most of the time. It's pretty unreadable with the map on, but I find I turn it off or dim the map right down with the knob.
  7. Iff and EMCON IFF needs to be turned off in accordance with the EMCON state, like any transmitter. IFF responses will provide bearing information to any enemy able to receive. If you have the ability to interrogate, then it can give you range and bearing information. For example, a simple TCAS unit can be purchased for a few thousand dollars, which will give range and bearing on any mode 3/3C transponders within range. It doesn't take much to modify these to operate mode 2 or 4. So yes the threat picture will determine the EMCON state which may require IFF to be turned to standby. (You don't turn it off because they take a little time to warm up.) On a side note, on most transponders, you should switch it to standby to change codes.
  8. It would be great to have an option for normal "western" measurements. Most of the world uses feet for altitude, Nautical Miles for distance, and metric for everything else. Also I would love it if the use of QFE was binned? No one uses it. QNH is what is used.
