Teach me the ways of the spitfire
GR00VYJERRY replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
All excellent information. Thanks. I can taxi and take off fine now. Landings are about 50 percent. The ones I crash I seem to land smooth but loose a little control when I rolling but it’s getting better. Another thing I notice is the engine seems to heat up quick. I am used to watching the p-51 temps and adjusting rpm and manifold pressure to keeping it from over heating but the spit seems a little more picky. I am learning though. Does anyone use the radiator open option or do you just keep it set to auto? -

I tried setting my brakes to the paddle on the thruster and when I do it stays centered and depressing the left paddle brings brakes to zero and depressing right makes it full but when I don’t hold I am 50 percent brakes. -

Thanks for the awesome right up. That is perfect. I have my curves set to my liking and will definitely use your advice. Thanks for taking the time to post. -
I bought the module a while ago. I tried and couldn’t taxi the damn thing so I shelved it and went back to my mustang and then learned the bf109. Recently I decided to give the spit a try again and learned how to taxi and takeoff. Landing is a bit rough as I haven’t stuck one yet bu I will learn. I just have a few questions. Is there a trim reset button on the plane like on the p51? Second, do you just leave your right rudder trim after takeoff or do you just trim the rudder and elevation to keep level flight? I noticed that different rpm and thrust cause different levels of roll so I just trim the rudder to counteract that, I am assuming this clips the correct way to fly it. The p51 has very little roll at various rpm/manifold pressure settings I am just not used to adjusting trim so much. Third, any suggestions on trim for landing or landing in general? Again, I assume I should just trim until I’m relatively stable on final approach. Fourth, I notice there is no slip ball like I am used to. I see the slip indicator but am unsure how to read it. Advice would be appreciated. Lastly, what are some solid rpm/boost combos to aim for while cruising and while fighting? Thanks

Can’t for life of me get enemy planes to attack
GR00VYJERRY replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in Mission Editor
So it stopped working for some reason. I have been doing this for about 13 hours between yesterday and today and I can’t get the enemy AI to attack aircraft. I have one group I want to attack b17s and one to attack p51s. I set up advanced waypoint to attack group b17 and another advanced waypoint for the other AI to attack group p51s. I even set it to zone and they just fly by the bombers and thenorbit. -
I have a formation of b17s flying in over Normandy. There are no enemies on the map yet. I set up the formation with the lead element and the follow 6 waypoints. They come in from the channel then when they hit the waypoint for the coming run they dive 3000 to 4000 feet and level out and conduct bombing run. If I set the waypoints to 28000 feet they fly at 28000 and then dive to 25000 feet when they hit the bombing run waypoint. If I set it to 25000 feet the bombers dive to 22000ish thousand feet when they hit the waypoint and level off. To make it more of a head scratcher. If i set all waypoints to 21500 the bomber groups stay at 21500 feet for the entire time. They only seem to dive from higher altitudes without instruction. At 215000 they work just fine. Anybody have any idea what is going on?

Can’t for life of me get enemy planes to attack
GR00VYJERRY replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in Mission Editor
That did the trick. Thanks for the help! -
I created a mission where I blow up 4 ground static aircraft After all 4 static ground targets are gone 2 bf109s spawn in. I set them to CAP. They have ammo and are on red team and I am on blue. They won’t shoot at me. They just fly around the spawn area and let me shoot them. I don’t get it. I can get them to spawn after taking out the targets but they don’t do a darn thing. Can someone help me out with figuring this out?

How do you run both? With the steam version I just select open beta and switches over and I go select current version it just click that and it will that up after I restart.
-
I will probably just switch it since it seems easy to bounce back and forth between the versions on steam. I see no reason not to try right now.
-
I fly all the warbirds available and fly the f16 and f18.
-
Which version does everyone run? I am on stable at the moment. Been on it since I started dcs. I want to start looking to play some online stuff and going some of those servers. It looks like most run on open beta. Does open beta run pretty smoothly or is it full of game breaking bugs? If so, I suppose I’d rather stay in stable. If I switch versions (I am on steam), does it reset my settings or are all of my controls saved? Thanks

how to create hotas profile

Anyone know where to find the correct files? My files are lua files under the path I mentioned above and it doesn’t except that file type. -
how to create hotas profile
GR00VYJERRY replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I found out how to upload the files and I found my files. Do i select the two files under input/p-51/joystick? There are two lua files in there so I assume that is them. I also have a file under p51 that says modifers. Do I select that too? How do I ujpload a picture overlay like I see when looking at hotas profiles? -
Hello, I would like to put some of my hotas setups on the profile page. How do you export your controls to overlay the joystick like I see in all the profiles?
-
Thanks. that is pretty much what I am building. I ordered it earlier so we will see. I may reach out to ya if i cant figure out.

Will dcs recognize this? https://www.amazon.com/Koolertron-Single-Handed-Programmable-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B076LRJ528/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Koolertron&qid=1595011672&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sr=8-4 I want to map the icp to it and a few other buttons. Will dcs recognize this in the settings as an additional keypad?
-
I was going to buy this to map my icp plus some additional buttons https://www.amazon.com/Koolertron-Single-Handed-Programmable-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B076LRJ528/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Koolertron&qid=1595011672&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sr=8-4 Will dcs recognize this? It is programmable and doesn’t interfere with standard keyboard function from my understanding. Will this be picked up b dcs in the scontrols settings menu?

Are the buttons and switches on the icp able to be mapped to a keyboard buttons? I was thinking about buying a little keypad and using it for the icp buttons. Thanks

Help a noob out with touchscreens.
GR00VYJERRY replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was looking at some profiles for Helios. They seem to extract the entire front panel of some planes. Is it possible to just grab the mfds and icp or am only able to take all the controls on the front panel and export them to touchscreen? Thanks -

Thanks! I assume any touch screen monitor will work, correct? -
Hello all. Just getting into jets (was mainly flying old war birds) and while I have a hotas that has tons of buttons on it and can map most the important things, it is really hard to remember what is mapped where. I see people have these pictures of touchscreens that show mfds and Icps. How does this work exactly? I would love to have a screen under my main display that has mfds, icon and ded for the f16. I contemplated buying the Thrustmaster mfds but am hesitant because I really would like the mfds and icp all displayed so I can click them on a touchscreen. Plus, I only have two USB ports left open and mfds would use both. Can anyone explain how I can make this happen? Do I just need a touch display monitor? Will any monitor work? Any recommendations? Is it possible to get touch reactive icp and mfds on a screen so I can stop using the mouse and/or buttons on my joystick? Thanks Edited to add: also with a touchscreen I can do more than one aircraft on it can buying specific parts like have seen (I.e. icp that I have seen for sale for f16) I originally posted this elsewhere In The forum but have not received any responses so I thought I’d try here.
