  1. Thanks for all the feedback. I have been doing nothing but touch and goes for the day and am getting better. Also I am realizing that when you have the plane trimmed correctly it wants to roll less. Thanks for all the advice.
  2. I have been mainly flying the p51. I have a pretty good handle on that aircraft and can do air to air and air to ground pretty good now. I bought the spitfire and can’t taxi that aircraft worth a poop. I can never get the airflceaft to straighten out. The tail wheel seems to have a mind of its own. So I went and bought the bf109. I can taxi that just fine. Take off was a bit rough but is getting better. Landing, I have about 50% success rate as of now. However, I find flying the bd109 requires a lot of attention. The aircraft wants to roll constantly. Depending on speed it either rolls a lot or a little or rolls to the left or to the right. Sometimes it wants to roll so hard that rolling the aircraft the other direction is slow. Also, the p51 and spit have the throttle and rpm throttle. I am used to this. The bf109 does not have the ability to control rpm, correct? I just want to make sure I am understanding this aircraft right. To be honest I am enjoying the challenge. Similar to how I felt when I first started the p51. I also love the sound of this aircraft. Please let me know any tips or tricks or if I am misunderstanding anything. Thanks
  3. I have the T160000m set. Mine are as follows: Roll and Pitch are 0 deadzone, X and Y saturation are 100 and curvature is 17 Rudder is 25 deadzone (the t16000 pedals have some slack I like to take up), and curvature is at 30. I only have the spitfire and P-51. Mainly play p-51 so far with just a little time behind the spitfire. I can taxi and land the p-51 now pretty easily. The spitfire I can taxi but takeoff is hard because I can't figure out how to get tail wheel straight for take off. only attempted landing a few times in spit. mostly unsuccessful outside of 1 successful landing. However, I don't have more than an hour in the spit.
  4. Hello all. I was flying the P-51 just fine and landing safely albeit roughly in some instances. Lately I have been having issues with skidding out when landing. I have been flying with landing assist off since day one. Not sure if that does anything when landing. I was able to land fine from day one, including crosswind. The last couple days i have been smoothly landing but as I cruise down the runway I start skidding either left or right. I try to rudder opposite and I end up wing down in the dirt. Not sure what is going on. I noticed some slop in my rudders so I adjusted the deadzone and set the curve 30. For reference: Pitch and roll are set to: Deadzone - 0 X and Y saturation - 100 Curvature - 17 Rudders: Deadzone - 20 (any lower and I dont feel much resistance in the peddles which makes it hard to feel what is going on. 20 takes up the slack.) X an Y saturation - 100 Curvature - 30 (So I don't over use the rudder) Any suggestion on technique or rudder curvature? Like I said the landings are smooth. No bouncing. I usually roll for a few second and then start to skid. Thanks
  5. I only had the p-51 so far as that is my favorite airplane of all time. Today with Steam sale starting I bought the F16, F18, Spitfire, and am thinking about getting the Bf109. I have the next year of gaming mapped out. lol
  6. On start up the guide says to put ram air open (forward). I thought the P-51 was supposed to be started with ram air closed. Then after take off you open ram air for cooling and most flying and fighting is done with it open. It is really only closed on takeoff (to keep dirt and ground debris out) and when crazy situations where you may need heat (icing). Am I wrong about this? Not sure if it matters in the sim or not but I have been starting my plane with the throttle in unrammed (back) and then opening it up right after take off.
  7. I have a 1TB but it was running at about 400 gb free before install. I like to keep SSD with minimum of 300 gb free space. I have a second 1TB on order. I will add that and then I won't have to worry about anything for a while.
  8. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I just past mission 2 and went on to mission 3 and crashed because my son wanted something so I just let the plane crash since I just took off and now I am back on mission 2 again. Think I am gonna ask steam for a refund. This campaign is busted.
  9. I have the base DLC, p51, ww2 assets, normandy, and blue nosed bastards campaign and I am at 91gb already. I am gonna need to get an additional ssd for all the modules i want. I have a 1TB ssd and it is full with other games but I can see DCS slowly taking over.
  10. I tried opening them in mission editor but i dont have a mods folder. I watched youtube videos of people doing it and i dont have the some of the folder. I am playing on the steam version if that makes a difference. I am playing on version 2.5.5.41371 stable, not open beta, which I believe is the most up to date stable version.
  11. I am currently on version 2.5.5.41371. Is this the current version? Does this game update automatically? How do i access the newest open beta? When i go to steam and click on betas I see some that are 1.5 and oen that is 2.5.5 last 2.5.5. Then i see one more that says openbeta-public beta versions. I am not sure what I should be on for most recent. thanks
  12. I played through the second bombing escort mission. Started the next mission. Forgot what number, think mission five. It was a ground attack mission. Couldn’t finish it so I exited. Logged on today and loaded up the mission pushed fly and noticed I was back in the second bomber escort mission. Thought that was weird so I exited and now my campaign starts me off on first bomber mission, mission 3. I just checked again after that and it has me in the fighter sweep mission, mission 2. Why is my campaign going backwards? How do I get back to the mission I should be on? I really dont want to spend 6 hours playing the missions over again.
  13. Is this campaign bugged? I played through the second bombing escort mission. Started the next mission. Forgot what number. It was a ground attack mission. Couldn’t finish it so I exited. Logged on today and loaded up the mission pushed fly and noticed I was back in the second bomber escort mission. Thought that was weird so I exited and now my campaign starts me off on first bomber mission. I just checked again after that and it has me in the fighter sweep mission. 14. I definitely getting the spitfire. I like that it will offer something different than what the p51 offers. I really wish they had a p40 module.
  15. My favorite ww2 crafts are the p51, spitfire, and p40. However, with that said, my main thing is to get as complete a module as I can. I will look at the 109.
  16. I am flying the p51 right now and I love the aircraft. I have gotten pretty decent at flying it and I can somewhat regularly take out harder AI. The only thing the sucks with the p51 is the guns. They are pretty weak against AI. Most of the time I am sinking shots just to have the enemy keep flying. I am looking for what will be the next module I buy. I am not sure if I should go with the spitfire, 109, or 190. I like how refined the p51 module is. It feels very polished and complete. What module would you all recommend jumping to next?
