WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
mladen replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you Headspace :worthy: -
It is indeed reasonable price. I did not use plywood but MDF.
-
This is the modified version of ABC cockpit and the cutting was done by CNC. I would strongly advice to let computer do the cutting work, otherwise the cockpit won't fit nicely and you'll have to use additional support brackets and a lot of screws. :smilewink:

Thank you Gadroc for filing me in; that is what I meant. This is Helios set-up I am using at this moment ...

I am afraid that you can not use Helios behind the dash. You'll cut you fingers while working with the panel. Did you see this picture posted in my previous reply?

I just Googled "milling mdf uk" and there it is :music_whistling: I would advice you to use MDF instead of plywood. Also please note that the inside edges are a rounded (diameter of the milling cutter) and you will have to use a file to make edges square. I believe that € 300.- is the reasonable price for this kind of work, including material.

Maybe this one ... http://www.bookertimber.co.uk/

Thanks ... Hvala  Helios upgrade of my cockpit

ABC cockpit an excellent general purpose combat cockpit. I would strongly suggest you seriously consider using CNC machine to do the cutting work. This mi my slightly modified ABC cockpit... With TM MFDs With Helios implemented...

Thanks, extremely valuable information.

Here are two sketches of the joystick plate. I used materials which I had available; in this case it was st.st. bar stock material dia. 110 mm. From the picture you can see that this assembly is 360° rotatable. I've done that to rotate joystick 15° counter-clockwise. It can be adjusted in hight and length as required. This adjustment feature does bring some instability once all bolts are tightened. My preference goes to the floor-based construction which brings more stability. (all dimensions are in millimetres)

I do have drawings, but they are at my office. Tomorrow I will post them. My construction is indeed mounted on the chair. It is not ideal ut it does the job.

This is how I've done it... I combined a few pictures for illustration ("a picture speaks a thousand words") Insert A: this is the bracket I use now. It is not good looking but it is functional. It is adjustable in height and length and I can rotate the stick around its axes. I twisted the stick for 15° to the left. Even though I can fly “normally” I should make a script in T.A.R.G.E.T. for this 15° adjustment. Insert B: another option which I have ready and have to experiment with it. Insert C: you can see how it’s fixed. Insert D: also this is an option which I like but do not know yet if it will work in practice.

Thank you very much @berkoutskaia  I downloaded anquickly tried the new version and it seems to work fine with 1.0.9 version. Have fun and be happy up there ... :pilotfly:

Guys, :) Did any of you successfully extract training missions text from the latest 1.0.9 version using Mizedit? I have tried but I get no training text in the "Triggers"window. However I have no problems if I open .miz training files from older versions. Since some of the the training missions have changed in the latest version (1.0.9) I would like to use them for text extraction. Thanks for your help

Thank you guys for helping me out. Using 1024 every frame solved my problem. I've made a quick test firing a few Mavericks using TGP and MAV displays at the same time and I must say I haven't noticed a frame rate drop. Tomorrow I will try it in multilayer mode and then I'll see what happens. :music_whistling: Have a nice flight

Hi, :) Is there a way to improve mirror resolution? I know that using mirrors will kill some FRs but still I am comfortable using them which is the reason I am asking this question. Thanks for you suggestions. This is what I have now

This is my version of the same cockpit  ... It is modified Akers Barnes Cockpit (ABC) which is quite nice and function general purpose combat cockpit Helios version ...

Hi Mr. Burns, :) Regarding the UFC (mini keyboard) … it happens quite often that the keyboard will not function properly (it won’t react at all) ; I am still trying to find out the proper procedure to be sure UFC is functional once in the simulator.:book: I do the following steps: 1. Start HIDMacros (as administrator) 2. Select the “Find” button and press one of the UFC keys so the kbd2 is recognized; KBD2 is my mini keyboard device 3. Minimize HIDMacros window. 4. Start the simulator. I have doubts about step two. I would appreciate if you could describe your UFC/HIDMacros start-up procedure. Thank you Hammer

Hi juankeiko (Juan), :smilewink: First of all my apologies for late response; I just overlooked your questions. The FMC is NOT functional in DCS A-10C simulator. It only works in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I was using it in Level-D Boeing 767 (still do now and then). It is USB version but you do need "drivers" to be functional in MSFS. Hopefully this answers your questions. Regards, Mladen

Indeed it's inexpensive but effective/working solution. Yes I am using HID but I still have to master it. There are still some issues to figure out .. like: after macro programming has been done do I have to (each time) first select "Find" function and then press one of the assigned keys so HID will recognise the device (in our case mini USB keyboard).
-
Hi Mr Barns, :) Just wanted to let you know that I upgraded my cockpit with UFC and it is fully functional. I've improvised with key stickers which I needed for programming the Macros. Shortly I will focus on production of key-sticker design which you provided. Have a nice weekend, Hammer

Indeed ... the mirror is to see if my wife is behind me ....
