It's interesting that in the past few days the top 6 threads feature polite requests, asking for better representation. In terms of gender and race. Though, I'm understanding more and more, there's a lot of DIY in this community (from skins to UFCs and cockpit builds), perhaps ED, does need to start a new ticket for this. Or, even to bump it up the backlog a bit. A previous workplace I was at was all about listening to people and consumers. When people needed features, it was discussed at length. Sometimes, the backlog would often be re-prioritised and sometimes in keeping with times of change and/or to be competitive. Either way, hot topic, hot discussion. Current. :)

As a newcomer on the forums, the community chipping-in is the general vibe I've been getting over the past few weeks. -Liveries, voiceovers in campaign missions, etc. -Doesn't Operation Piercing Fury have over 200+ voiceovers? Or, if not the community, then perhaps friends/aspiring actors/actresses who can do some voiceover work...

How bad would it be if we were to ask for the ability to toggle between 'showroom fresh' and 'battle-damaged'? :D E.g., no bumps on the nose, the ability to choose between worn and 'mint condition' cockpit?

He had me at 'bumps on the nose' (from refuelling). LOL!

Snap, I got one of those! :D

Transformers/Decepticon Assets Pack :)
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Exactly. And, let's not forget the Optimus voice easter egg in the F-14B ;) -Only just foundout this afternoon (please don't shoot me) :P -
Hi, I spent some time a few months back making my own liveries. Can I carry them across to the new A-10C module? Cheers!

Transformers/Decepticon Assets Pack :)
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well, for me, as the OP, I wasn't trolling :( ...Let's not forget at the time, Bayformer 1 was the biggest DoD outing since Black Hawk Down. First glimpse, and IIRC first in-air shots (if not this one then in subsequent sequels) of, the F-22 in mainstream film. It reignited my interest in planes and I got (and still have) the boxed DCS A-10C game. ...Not so sure about the Mars Attacks guys tho(.) :P -
I am absolutely rough with the A-10C :music_whistling: I'm bearing in mind the basic training vids that come with the game point out that things aren't as bad as they are. So, I did notice looking at the wing tip pointing to the ground that you can see the tight turning circles that you can do. And that, an AoA of 10 degrees is it(?), with enough speed, the plane can climb fast. I've been practising rocket and AGM-65 runs over the past few nights and from F3 sometimes it looks good when I pull away. Or when they pull away from the tanker and they roll away so slick. But if I want to do proper moves, what kind of vids on YouTube would you recommend? -I don't know if I'm using the right words in the search (manoevres / maneuvers / strafing etc). Also, do any of these campaign modules contain what I'm looking for? A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign A-10C Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification Campaign A-10C Basic Flight Training Campaign Thanks!

Get Some Heavies In: AC-130U and MH-53J Pave Low III
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Hey, thanks guys for pointing me in the direction of those vids. :) -
Maybe it's time to bring-in some of the bigger planes and choppers. :) Either yourself or a 3rd-party developer. And, in Multiplayer, you can have friends take on the various stations/roles within each aircraft: pilot, gunner, etc. With the C-130, you can take it in various directions: *KC-130 - for those wanting the need to just play a support role/providing fuel for others. *WC-130 - it might not be such an exciting gig for some but each to their own :P ;) *MC-130J Commando II - a mix of both of the above. *HC-130J Combat King II - for those keen on logistics and if they don't deliver supplies to a remote AFB on time, they get the wrath of their online mates who can't continue with the mission until their supplies arrive. Think of it as a more critical version of the baggage handling process in MS FS :)

As AI-controlled bad guys. This would be awesome. Esp. set against the Las Vegas/Nevada map! :) I'm sure there'd be a massive Hasbro licensing nightmare but I can only dream ;)

Cheers mate, much appreciated! 2 weeks is good to know!! And, glad you're getting along with it!! :)

The vids are great but everyone has different levels of learning. I just did the Navigation one again. I think the instructor had combined 2 or 3 parts in this one. If there were Play/Fast Forward/Next Topic/Previous Milestone/Topic with a scroll bar, it'd be excellent even more! And, IIRC, a few years ago, the Basic Flight one has the turning with stick and rudder. I didn't have the rudder pedals back then, so it was difficult to keep a steady 360 turn at the same altitude. If memory serves right, I had to repeat the whole module. So another reason for making this request. I think it'd help with the steep learning curve. Cheers! :):thumbup:

Hi, Just trying to figure-out who last purchased this recently. I've been reading this thread, checked-out the FB page and noting the guy has given his time to create this for the community whilst a full-time worker. I.e....I'm not sure if I'll see anything back if I go through the checkout process and he's no longer making these... Also, 2 years have passed and I'm seeing some people on here and the FB page reporting issues. Just wondering if you are all mostly reporting problems and have bought recently (recent batch runs) or are these long-term users who have just started to encounter issues? Thanks!

For anybody wishing for the 'new car smell/look' and those that don't. :D Or add variations of existing skins. Thanks!
-
And, that grey/gray colour for the helmet in keeping with the times, if possible? Thanks!
-
Thanks Gierasimov!! :) That's really cool to know. -I made the assumption that it's their staff that built the existing built-in ones.

'Clear Model' option for Model Viewer 2
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Hi :) I have to concede - I'm new :) Could it be that I've just missed seeing an option in the drop-down menu to do this? For example, there's no File > New / Clear etc. Could it be that I've not spotted it in the drop-down menus? Note, I'm not after 'reset'. I'm after an actual option that will clear the MV screen of the current displayed model. Like MS Word or Excel when you close the file but keep the app running. My recent design has included me working on template PSDs. Then, I convert them to DDS files. I have 2 folders: C:\...\Staging\a-10.zip; C:\Eagle Dynamics\...\Bazar\world\textures\a-10.zip (there is a 3rd and it contains backups) Anyhow, I then copy the DDS file/s into the Staging copy of the zip. Then, I copy and paste the zip into the actual, live folder location. But, I can't do this if the A-10.EDM file is open in ModelViewer. I've noticed that it will work if MV is open but doesn't have the file open. And, the cycle of making a change with the above process and then loading-up MV each time is very time-consuming. So, hence the request. If anyone can see from that perspective if there's a faster/efficient/safer way or an option I've missed in the drop-down menu, please let me know. Thanks. -
Hi, Can we have this option so that when designing liveries we can quickly clear down the model that is within the app window/main memory? So, that it frees-up the link/lock placed on the files? Saving time of loading it up all the time. Which would allow faster prototyping/testing of livery designs? Thanks! :)

Hi, I've made as good use as possible of this kind user's Shark Mouth for the A-10C livery that I'm working on. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/86359/ The only bits I need to colour-in black are highlighted in the attached pics. Can somebody point-out which areas of which templates (~A-L) I can find the sections enclosed in the blue lines of the attachment pics? Also, I'm a basic-level photoshop user. What would be a good tactic to tackle this bit? I'm thinking about turning off all top layers to isolate the group or layer, paint it black, then reshow all layers above. Sound good? Thanks! :)

Missing textures on A-10C after creating skin
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in A-10C/A-10C II
So, whilst I'm OK now, I did notice the following... Whilst, I was troubleshooting, I did find the log for ModelViewer2 (attached) and it was coming-up with some interesting errors including missing shaders, files, etc, etc. Could it be that these 'shaders' or what appears to be DirectX issues be exacerbating the way some objects/parts of the plane look? Same questions/obbos as above: if I'm forward of the plane (at it's 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock positions), pending angle of light, those venting areas look really bad. Yet, if I'm in the position as per the screenshot in the previous reply or if I'm at the plane's 4 o'clock position, you can just about make out the inward cant of the entrance of the vent. Is it worth reporting to ED? Or, is it just me? :D Cheers guys. model_viewer2-poss-error.txt -
Missing textures on A-10C after creating skin
freelancer2011 replied to freelancer2011's topic in A-10C/A-10C II
LOL...Um, quite embarrassed but it looks like they're supposed to be there! https://www.planespotters.net/photo/1017860/80-0167-usaf-united-states-air-force-fairchild-republic-a-10c-thunderbolt-ii Looks like they are some sort of venting/air-cooling? So, the question is: is it an optical illusion that is made even worse when the following layer groups are removed: *Gr / Gryaz / Griaz / Gryaz Areas (does this mean grain/grittiness and are these just aliases for each other?) *Dirt? from the A-10C-104-1A.psd template? I removed these as I was trying to make the plane a little more 'car fresh'-looking. Now, I'm wondering if it's highlighted imperfections in the artists rendering LOL  As if you look at the attached screenshot that's what got me thinking that it could be just that just at certain angles and lighting, it looks like blocks are missing? -
Hi, I've been creating my own skins over the past few days. I've just noticed these missing components. See attached. It's not whole sections just parts of sections. It's not just my custom skin. But if I choose another built-in skin like the 74th Squadron/Flying Tigers, the parts are still missing. Any ideas? Thanks.
