  1. I would kind of like to leave some protection on but properly set it up so I don't get hosed by some virus, spyware etc...Does everybody really run online games with *all* protection turned off? Not me. :music_whistling: I didn't have any problems with LAN play for years now and this is really the first internet game I am tempted to use online so I am new in that respect. My firewall (Comodo) did show it had blocked 10307 and I had excluded 10308 already so I thought that was odd but made an exclusion. I also did the same for the port forwarding in my router. Thanks, db
  2. Yes, I have done the switch and still no joy. I expect the server list would show up fairly quick but I am going to wait and see if it takes a few minutes and go from there...but really it should be almost instant. So will SpyBot or anti spyware software muck it up? Thanks, db
  3. I found the patch and installed it so I am up to version 1.2.1 from 1.0.2 which was the download version I got about 2 or 3 days ago. Still no joy though  Thanks, db
  4. I don't know as i just bought it a couple of days ago and figured it was the latest downloadable version. The simulator properties say 1.0.2 I recall. What is the latest version? Still can't get anywhere... Thanks, db
  5. I am quite new to this game (FC2) and usually don't play online but locally on my LAN in my house but for some reason I am having a very hard time to see any servers on the internet. I am using a Linksys WRT54G router with the latest firmware and to the best of my knowledge have the port 10308 set to forwarding. I shut off my firewall and turned on the Windows one (XP Pro)and allowed simulator.exe as an exception. Still no joy. My step dad left and I was flying against him on the LAN here but now he is gone and I need to connect up to a game sooner than later to practice for when he comes back or even fly against him online. What else could I try?? Thanks, db :joystick:
  6. Thanks for the info. I shut off the firewall on the Win7 pc and it still wouldn't work so I shut off my Comodo Firewall on my pc and then it did work. At least I know its a firewall issue and I can see about adjusting or making rules to allow the game and still have the firewall protecting the pc. Thanks, db
  7. This is for Flaming Cliff's V2 that we downloaded yesterday. I bought my step dad the game and it looked good so i bought it for me and we can't get multi-player working for head to head game on LAN even though all of the other games we play on LAN work. Initially there was a DEFAULT setting choice in the options and that is gone. We set it to L10 and no joy. We each tried being the server. I upgraded the router firmware. The guy running the server can fly but the client can't do anything but look at the cockpit and a few other views with the function keys. What to try next?? Thanks, db :helpsmilie:
  8. We found the section on activations so that has been cleared up...I guess I will try to install it to my "D" drive as there is plenty of room there and hope it works alright as that is a fairly new WD Caviar Black 1TB drive but my 250GB "C" drive only has about 20GB Free and thats not even enough to run defrag on....:D Thanks, db
  9. Thanks for all the replies...we got the game downloaded and installed and purchased. Looks good. Now I want to install it on my XP Pro pc and hope it will do as good as Win7 64 bit. I have a question though before I do. My drive is almost full and I need to replace it. I noticed on my step dad's pc it said he had 7 activations or something like that. If I install it so we can try to play (as he is on vacation visiting here now), and I change my drive to a larger one, do I lose an activation and what does it mean when you use them all? Can you put the game on more than one personal computer or just the original one and then it has to be deactivated to re-activate on the same or another pc? I want to buy it but don't want to waste an activation if I change my drive in the next few weeks. Thanks, db
  10. I bought Lock On on a cd for my step dad and we tried it on his 64 bit Win 7 pc and it crashes even in XP compatibility mode. I was going to buy him Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and was wondering if that will work good on that system and also be all I need to buy?? I don't have FC 1.x but from what I read I don't think I need it but want to be sure. Also, being it is download only for US market, can it be re-downloaded in the event of a computer failure or can it be put on DVD or something? Thanks, db
  11. That Blackshark is looking good too, maybe a Xmas gift is in the future. So I guess I have to wait for the US version as it is nowhere to be googled here yet. Thanks, db
  12. I haven't been able to find the boxed version of Flaming Cliffs 2 in the US that I need to buy for myself and for a gift for my step dad. When will it be available and where? Thanks, db
