I think over time I will have multiple clickable jets. What is the average number of jets people end up with I wonder. I am thinking I will end up with 4 for some reason... :)

More good info to think about...dumb bombs and rockets. :( The A10C may be a Xmas gift for me as I want to fly sooner than later. My neighbor likes the F86 but I am thinking the F5E so I don't have the same jet. ;) Thanks, Dave

Very good info for me here. I want to fly sooner than later so I can put the A10C on the back burner for now... I appreciate the "levels of difficulty" comparison. Makes me think of an F5E for starters but I have read ahead in these posts and the Harrier might be in my hangar too. I appreciate the good info. Thanks, Dave

I love the F/A-18C. I like both Air to Air and Air to Ground but air to air probably better. But I love the A-10 too. So I guess I need to get one dedicated for each task. Maybe a Mig-21B, FA-18C, and a A10C. I like the F-15 too so I need to make a decision... On the terrains that new Persian gulf map is looking good. I suppose in the end I will get all 3 of those...

Hi guys and gals, Many years ago I bought LockOn for me and my stepdad. Back then we were noobs and tried to do it right but had too many issues so we quit trying. Our issues back then were conflicts with our X52 HOTAS and either Logitech or Microsoft keyboards or driver issues etc. When we did manage to fly we had cheat-sheets to get the plane fired up and into the air. It was fun but my stepdad got his into the air faster and then strafed me on the runway. Good times. :music_whistling: Anyhow, I have a renewed interest and installed DCS 2.5 and bought FC3 and quickly realized the planes cockpits are not clickable so I want to buy a good all around jet that is more noob friendly. Any recommendations?? And for the controls I still have my brand new X52 and also a Sidewinder FF2 joystick. Will the FF2 work nowadays? And is the X52 "good enough" for now? Also, my neighbor is the one that mentioned this DCS sim and I told him of the good old days and he wanted me to come fly with him. So, for my stepdads birthday I bought him FC3 and we hope to fly with my neighbor (along with a lot of other enthusiasts) soon... Thanks, Dave p.s. My new freshly built Win10 Pro with 32GB ram and a 1080TI and i7-8700k cpu ought to handle it I think. :D

Thanks for the info. I will try some of the FC v1.x skins as I don't see too much for the FC v2.x yet. Then I will get a good set of controllers and after that get Black Shark. db

Thanks for the info...looks like lots of stuff for FC 1.1 (which I don't have). I started with FC2 as I thought I read it replaced 1.1 but maybe it said FC2 replaced LockOn? Thanks, db p.s. Is FC 1.1 something to get or just move ahead with the Black Shark?

I just got the FC2 last week but wanted to know the best place to learn all about mods. For starters, simple stuff like skins so I can make my A10 or F15 look different. And another question. If I skin my plane and play via LAN or internet, will my opponent or wingman see the results or will he too have to add the skin? And finally, where do you get all of the skins for FC2 (or the best ones) and how do you install them? Thanks, db

Apache Apache AH64 would be nice. :joystick: F14 Tomcat would be nice too.

making a server for yourself and a friend?
davebert replied to kingneptune117's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
On WinXP go to CONTROL PANEL|NETWORK CONNECTIONS|LOCAL AREA CONNECTION and look on the lower left and you will see your IP address. db -
Ok, thanks for the info. db

Can I just use my spare pc to set up a FC2 internet server like one would do with COD? Does it require another purchase of the software to run the server? Thanks, db

Can't see any servers on internet
davebert replied to davebert's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You have been lucky and I understand your thoughts but I have too much stuff to re-install even though it is backed up. I hate spending all the time re-installing software. I do have some good backup program though that works thru DOS and makes an image and is fairly quick. Problem is you have to have an equal sized drive for backing it up even if it is half full. In other words, if I have a 1TB drive for my "C" drive then I need a 1TB drive to back up the image too, even if the source drive is only using 100GB. I need to add another drive now so I will back up the 250GB drive before I install the 1TB drive. :D db -

I installed the FREE ZoneAlarm firewall and it worked perfect right out of the box and recognized that FC2 was trying to access the internet and popped a little notifier with options and then after I clicked "allow" it popped another to access the servers and I said "allow" and made a rule and instant success! So my firewall was the culprit after all which I suspected but it was a really good firewall until now. :music_whistling: So now I just have to practice my flying skills. :joystick: Cheers, db -
Can't see any servers on internet

Well, after 3 days of fighting the fricking firewall I removed the POS and everything works fine with the windows firewall. I gave up because the firewall was reminding me of Nortons Utilities where they try to protect you even when you shut them off and make it impossible to tweak. It would only allow FC2 to work with the firewall disabled and that is not cool. I made so many changes that once I would have figured it out I probably would have had 20 holes in my security. I do not trust windows firewall so has anybody used ZoneAlarm with success as I would like to have a more visual idea of who is trying to do what at my disposal? Thanks, db -

Can't see any servers on internet
davebert replied to davebert's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yeah, I have the FREE version as I got it before they starting selling the suite. :P I have 10307 and 10308 opened in the router. I guess I need to open it in the firewall too but it seems I have tried without success. Anyhow, the firewall is showing that it has blocked 10307 UDP a bunch of times so that may be something...Do I lose an activation if I reinstall the game over itself?? Maybe if I set the firewall to training mode and do that it will find the missing link and make the correct rule? Thanks, db -

I am using Comodo Firewall. It is third party and is a great firewall and I normally don't have any issues. I have the router all set now but need to resolve this firewall problem or setting. Thanks, db -

My firewall has a defense plus setting and a firewall setting and if I just turn off the defense setting I can't connect. If I turn off the firewall I can connect. Does anybody know *all* of the files used in FC2 that need to be set as trusted?? I have set simulator.exe and that doesn't do it. :book: Thanks, db -
Can't see any servers on internet
davebert replied to davebert's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I fixed it... Sort of...Now I can get the list of servers but with my firewall disabled. I fat fingered my static IP and had 2 instead of 102 on the port forwarding. I must be missing something on setting the firewall to exclude the game. Do I need to exclude LockOn too along with FC2? db -

davebert replied to davebert's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Still not seeing any servers...The funny thing is when my step dad was here connected to my LAN he was even able to see servers on the internet so I know they are out there. :D It has to be something trying to protect me I am guessing... db -

Well I just shut off the firewall and both SpyBot and SuperAntiSpyware and still no joy. Going to reboot and think on it some more... db
