Does anyone have a list (or know where to find it) for the load outs in the radio comms when rearming? I'd like to include this in the next update for the iPhone and for the new iPad app, but can't find it in the manual, on the forums, or in the lua files (limited searching in the luas tho). And thanks for all the latest positive feedback, it keeps me motivated to continue putting time into it and improve the app! Again, sorry for those of you with iOS 3.x devices, I've tested it on my original iPhone with 3.x and I see the problems first hand. I'm working on a fix for these issues, but might take some time.

Yes, that's a great idea! I'll get cracking on that, but where did you find it? I'm looking at page 645 of the latest version of the Flight Manual and I'm seeing JTAC radio information. I've searched the entire flight manual and can't find the list of load-outs. If anyone can give me a list of the load-outs, I'll start implementing this into the next update, along with the iPad version which is getting on its way. Thanks!

Yikes! That's my fault for not fully implementing this for a true iOS 3.x device. I have an iPhone 4, the only device I have to test it on (and with Xcode, I can't test in a pre-iOS4 simulator). I think the problem you're having with the ejection button covering the other buttons (assuming you're running a 1st -3rd generation iPod touch) is due to the resolution difference between devices. Since I'm not a professional programmer, I really don't know why you're having the issues you're having with crashes... I do apologize for that though! Perhaps it has something to do with smaller amount of memory in early iPod Touches. If you have an iPad, I suggest you try it on that when I finish making it. There won't be any issues like this reverse compatibility we're seeing here.

After doing more research, looks like updates can typically take up to a week to be processed, sorry to get your hopes up. I will send you a personal message and I'll post on here the moment it gets approved (or I'll do my best, heading to Europe tomorrow night and might not be online as frequently). I'm amazed by the great response from everyone on here- thanks for the comments, reps, and donations everyone! :) Cheers!

A-Ha! Great catch, whoops! I'll fix those typos for the next update. THANKS! And good idea with the "enhancement" suggestion, I'll see what I can do with that. The RWR symbols were pretty much the last thing I did on the app so I really rushed through it without giving it too much thought. Thanks again for the feedback!

Sorry, I guess I assumed that if you have iTunes (who doesn't these days! ;) ) you could see/read about the app in the app store. My fault for not giving more info. But if you're not running an iOS device/don't have iTunes and are curious, a little searching on the forums would land you into lots of info about this. But I'll edit my original post, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Unfortunately, I don't have experience or any knowledge about developing for androids (or symbian), and I don't have an android device to test it on. But, I've given my code to another user on here that might be able to port it over. And yes to everyone that's mentioning it, I'll definitely make an iPad version.

I'm guessing you have a first generation iPod Touch, am I right? After a quick search, I see that I didn't support backwards compatible far enough. That's my fault. No problem, I'll resubmit to Apple right now supporting 3.0 and up. If all goes well, update should be available in the next 24 hours... I'll repost after I resubmit. Cheers!

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone! If this positive reaction continues, I'll start work soon on the iPad version. I already have a couple things I'll work on for the next update for this version: 1)Most updated airbase charts (I think the ones I used are at least one version old) 2)LAT LON coordinate inputs.... I'm so used to in real life using Degrees/Min/Seconds that I didn't realize that DCS uses Degrees/Min/fraction of minutes. I'll change that around for better input. 3)Update the DCS checklist (patch 1.1.0.8 came out just after I submitted the app to Apple) 4)If enough people are interested and I get permission to use them, I could incorporate different versions of Normal Checklists. Or, I could make an option to create your own checklist within the app. 5)I'd like to continue exploring the possibility of importing mission briefing info into the app without the user having to enter everything manually. (And on that note, for anyone who wants to "copy and paste" long mission descriptions into the app to avoid typing it themselves, this is what I suggest: Highlight and copy the text from within DCS A-10, alt-tab out, paste text into an email to yourself, open email on iOS device, select the text and "copy", open up or multitask into iWarthog, and finally, tap in any textfield/textview and select "paste") Thanks again everyone for the nice comments!

I'm pleased to announce that my app has been approved and is now available for free download on the apple iTunes app store. Just search for iWarthog in the store. It is simply a companion to DCS A-10 that features: -Interactive checklist from the DCS flight manual -Emergency procedures from the DCS flight manual -Comprehensive Mission Data Card that allows users to create/edit/delete information for separate missions -Zoomable Airbase PDF diagrams -And a reproduction of the UI "Encyclopedia" (with all aircraft metric information converted to US measurements for us that are behind the curve in the states! ;) ) I hope the community finds some use for it and it helps in some way to improve your simming experience. Also would like to thank ED for letting me use their info in my app, as well as Shu77 for his airport diagrams, and WarriorX for his mission card ideas. This is my first "released" iPhone app, so I'm open to all kinds of feedback. If there's something you think I should add/delete/modify, please let me know and I'll see if I can make the changes for future updates. Also, if there is enough demand, I'll port it over to the iPad and make it even better for the larger screen interface. One last note. I have dedicated a lot of my time and effort into this app and released it for free. If you like it and want to donate a small something, here's my support page with a pay paypal link: http://dcsa-10iphoneapp.blogspot.com/2011/06/iphone-app-is-alive-on-itunes-store.html Thanks everyone and enjoy! -sickdog

Great news everyone, the app is approved and should be on the iTunes app store for free within the next 24 hours. The name (of course) is iWarthog. :) -

Sounds pretty nifty, but perhaps beyond my level of programming knowledge. I'd be interested in learning more about it though, could make inputting info a bit easier. PM me and we can chat some more about it. -

The App has begun its journey through the Apple review process as of this morning, having been sent in May 29th. If all goes well, it could be approved and on the app store today or tomorrow. I'll make sure to post something here and on the main page when it goes live. And again, if people like it, I'll make an iPad version that will be even better. Thanks again for your interest everyone! -
I also experienced re-spawning inside the B-1 and the C-117, but no big deal. Great mission none the less, had tons of fun on multiplayer last night. The 6 AGM-65D's and 4 CBU-97's load out does A LOT of damage in this mission, and I'm thinking adding some man-pads could make this a bit more interesting too. Thanks for your work!

By moving the radio menu are you able to read the all the text now (such as the load-outs being truncated)?

I can safely say that I too get that audio issue now with 1.1.0.8 with the Wingmen Spike calls- the exact same thing. AND, I also noticed missing audio after the new patch with some JTAC audio messages (can't remember which ones right now either, but it was in the first two missions of Devil's Cross campaign and I know they worked before patch). HOWEVER, I've been bad and have only patched over my 1.1.0.7 (and not even a clean install), and haven't double checked my C++ versions either (I know, tsk tsk). But, I'll try a reinstall soon and report back. Glad I'm not the only one having these new audio issues.

Yes, shouldn't be too hard to re-design for iPad. Actually, I think it'd be way more useful with the bigger screen, it was tough doing everything I wanted on that 320x480 iPhone! I was going to wait for feedback on this on the iPhone before I started the iPad one. But I suppose if there's enough demand for it on iPad I can get cracking on it. Got a bit trip coming up so might have to wait a few weeks. -
Ha! Better wait till you download the app Lazy, then decide on your donation! :) But, I've got my Paypal donation link setup to my Blog page (not that I blog, but I needed to have a website per app submission rules to Apple). No sense in giving it out until the app is available. And on that note, good news everyone, the app is DONE! It's about 75% done uploading to Apple and then we just have to wait for approval... anywhere from 1-2 weeks I believe. Thanks again for your great support and interest in this everyone, it's kept me going on this thing through completion. I hope you find it useful and enhance your DCS experience. :)
-
Thanks everyone for the support and great comments! Yes, I'm releasing this app for free on the iTunes store without ads. I'm chalking up the hard work to a learning experience since I'm a really novice programmer. Maybe I'll set up a donations site if anyone feels like the app is worth >$.99 to them. This should work fine on iPod Touches, there's not functionality that requires iPhone features. The app is all done, minus a credits section, title, and icon. So I'll be uploading to Apple in the coming day(s). And on another note, I used the Encyclopedia section last night to identify a target while in a mission, which was actually very useful!
-
Well, after putting a lot of my time into it, I thought it'd be nice to get $.99 or something for it... But, between a lot of other people here volunteering their time to contribute to DCS in some fashion and to maybe grease this along, I think I'll just offer it for free. Unless ED has a problem with me giving away this info in the manual, jeez now I'm not sure which ED would prefer. Thanks for the help! Thanks! Hmm, besides an icon, I haven't come up with a name yet. I save the hardest things for last! I don't think so. I believe it's an option, so if I offer it for free I won't be doing ads. Besides, there's not enough room on the iPhone as it is to get everything on it, Ads would mess me up! Thank you!

Hey everyone, Thought I'd post here to maybe get someone's attention that could help me out since the "Contact Us" link is broken on the ED page. I'm ready to submit an App I made for the iPhone (and if there's a positive response, I'll make an even better iPad version). The app originally was going to be a mission data card and a way to read briefings (which is not important as of the new patch when it comes out), but it evolved into a multi-purpose app. You can read about it here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70164&page=10 But, I need to get permission from ED to use their material (reproduction of data from manuals and the encyclopedia section of the UI). Any help from someone that has connections would be much appreciated! Thanks! Here's a couple screen shots of what's involved:

Well folks, it's pretty much done. Just working out a couple memory issues and optimizing performance, but the main obstacle right now is getting permission from ED to use their copyrighted info (from the manual, UI Encyclopedia, and anything else they may consider theirs). The problem is I can't figure out how to get permission from them. I've written a couple members here but there the link on the ED web site "Contact Us" is broken. So if anyone has a red phone to ED and can relay my request to use their stuff, it'd be much appreciated! Here's the Functionality: -Complete set of Normal Checklist directly from the manual, but in a table view that scrolls and places a checkmark next to completed items. -Complete set of Abnormal Checklist (and a key for all Caution Light Panel) directly from manual -Mission Card with database to store info and create unlimited separate missions 1)Mission Description/Objective, your flight info, etc. 2)Friendly/Enemy Countries 3)Weather 4) 1° and 2° Target info, weapon to be used, threats 5)Radio Freqs/Callsign/Type of aircraft for up to 4 flights, AWACS/Tanker/JTAC info, fuel info, takeoff/landing speeds based on weight 6)Time Hacks, Airbase info, Misc Data (NET/LASER ID etc), bullseye coordinates, mission notes, 9-line with a quick and easy to use interface to minimize workload while flying, and a remarks section -Airbase PDF's from a table list (complements of Shu77) -and the entire Encyclopedia section form the DCS UI (minus the buildings, didn't see much importance for that) and an RWR symbol key. It's pretty handy (especially having the encyclopedia section in the palm of your hands) and I think some of you might enjoy it. I just need to get permission from ED first!
