  1. p. 528 of the Fight Manual states: "Select to release bomb(s) in CCIP or CCRP release modes. This setting, along with being assigned to the HUD rotary, will determine if the profile is selected in the CCRP or CCIP rotary." Does this mean then that both the HUD and the DSMS profile must always be set to the same release mode for it to work properly? What if the DSMS profile is CCIP for example, but I want to change it quickly using the HUD to release mode to CCRP? Would the weapon then be in CCRP mode or must I also change the DSMS weapon profile to CCRP as well? Thanks, Darrick
  2. Thanks for all of the awesome replies! I'm sorry to have missed out on more than a few great sims. Did anyone mention the mid 90's Janes F-15? I think my *first* true start was the sopwith camel dogfight mode in one of the early ms flightsims.
  3. Although my introduction into combat flightsims began with Falcon 3.0 , DID's EF-2000 seemed to have that special something that I remember fondly to this day. The A-10c beta is definitely rekindling that feeling again... This should be something special.
  4. With the way that most table top sticks are designed, it seems like the most natural and comfortable configuration is as a side-stick. I've had the inclination to use my X-52 in the "proper" center-cyclic position, but find the buttons uncomfortable to get to, and the general angle all wrong. What kind of configuration do you use? If centered, is it table top mounted, or are you using something more specialized to put the cyclic in its proper place? Author temporary unavailable due to a humor-suppressing aneurysm
  5. I know that many here have reported issues with patch 1.0.2 AI driving straight to a target, when they have stand off weapons available. During testing, I set up a mission with 2 wingmen, and a group of 3 enemy vehilces on flat terrain about 2,000 m away. After sending data-link targets to both wingmen, even on the lowest AI setting, they USUALLY respond with "Attacking data-link designated target," then separate out to the left or right depending on formation, and then proceed to call "Attacking primary," and fly a short distance toward the target, then climb and launch missiles. However - as others have noted, under the same general circumstances, sometimes the AI will make both the "Attacking data-linked target" and "Attacking primary," BUT, they will then fly right over the enemy and become entangled in "Engaged defensive" I found the problem not to be associated with a particular AI setting, even on the lowest they will most of the time attack properly. Given that you issue the data-link target correctly, what factors would cause the AI to fly directly to the point of the enemy? Are there any plans underway to release a patch to remedy this issue? Are there plans to allow a player to force the AI to attack from a fixed position, given they have green launch conditions/visibility? Thank you for considering this lengthy letter. Take it as well meaning criticism, for I have nothing but respect for the fine job your team and company has done. D.
  6. Good point EtherealN! I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to reply, the dev work on 1.0.2 has made a wonderful improvement on frame rates. It's nice to see a developer continuing to support it's product. I'm hoping that the next patch will focus on the AI wingmen behavioral issues that have been cropping up. Thanks again DCS team!
  7. Great job so far Wags! I wish the DCS sdk was compatible with more 3d packages however. 3d Studio Max is quite an expense on a hobbyist budget, and unfortunately has become the only available option for many game related plugins. If only Lightwave would do more developer courting...
  8. Given the hardware below, I still am not seeing smooth frame rates in the "Death Valley" mission. Is my experience typical of those with similar hardware? BS clean install, patched to v1.1 Visibility: High Scenes: High Civ Traffic: Yes Water: Med Shadows: Active Planar only Cockpit res: 1024 Screen Res: 1920x1280 AA: 2 AF:off Hardware: i7 930 @ 3.4 Ghz 6 GB Ram Single Ati 5870 2 Gb ver Windows 7 Home Basic I was really expecting higher frame rates from BS given this rig. Were my expectations too high? Your thoughts? Experiences? Thank you so much, D.
