First try running as administrator, right click on the desktop icon and choose run as administrator. Keep in mind at the first launch it will take a while for the menu to show up.

That, sounds like the PSU being overwhelmed.

But...underrated PSU would probably cause shutdowns not odd pixelation issues. Make sure your Direct x is up to date.

Yes, also you will need to make sure that it has all the correct connectors for the system board as well.

Well, its hard to say without "seeing" the system. Normaly there are four screws holding it to the chassis from the back. You will also need to disconnect all of the various power connectors.
