  1. You don’t need controllers for pro2 setup. There is an option to “skip” controllers pairing. And then it’s all set, you can run without controllers. All setup menus can be reached by software screen with mouse or a button on the headset itself.
  2. GPU from 2080ti to 3090, CPU from i9 to i11, actually the improvement is not a big jump in DCS. But in recent years, the improvement of frame rate / resolution with whatever latest gear is just limited, isn't it? While, I have to say that every single step of clarity of the cockpit or scenes with the new gear makes it worth, if you play tens of hours per week...
  3. OK. finally I accept that there is no final on gears upgrade in current years, money investment is still quite necessary. Directly jump into my conclusion (now I have all 3 in hand and I think I can write something). 1. resolution Vive pro2 is the best. G2 resolution is also good. 2. FOV Valve index is the best. Vive pro2 FOV is close to valve index, not bad. G2 is not comparable in this point. 3. Color Valve index is the best. 4. Comfortable and sound. To be honest, I still give this score to valve index. The design of headset including the rear part is excellent. Pro2 is not bad, but I don't like its earphone. The sound quality of valve index is even better that vive pro2 which is pressed to the ear:) 5. refresh rate Valve index with 144hz is the best. vive pro2 with 120hz is not bad. G2 is only 90Hz. Although DCS cannot reach that refresh rate, this index really can be felt by eyes. Overall, due to the importance of resolution, and mostly vive Pro2 is not bad and close to the best, I stick to pro2 now. Wondering how good it will be when valve index gen 2 comes out.
  4. Thanks to all above!!! Good advices. Still in practicing and "feeling" of the missile.
  5. Thanks for the advices. Will do more practices.
  6. Quite struggling on the questions as titled. Watched couple of training videos of how to maneuver, and from maneuvering point of view I think I am OK. But the question is before maneuvering and after maneuvering, it's still quite uncertain moment when I should start maneuver actually? (for example, 3 seconds or 5 seconds or 8 seconds after hearing locked beep? Or if the moves should be based on specific SAM or AA Radar, is there a guide of list?) Same uncertainty is after it. How can I relax and make sure I have evaded.
  7. Echo above. The VOR radio cannot tune, the 1MHz dial cannot work (either by keyboard or by mouse on it).
  8. Sure, will replay. For example, I felt so sorry that in mission 15, I missed to silence the suicide truck before it hit our special force... I think you must have several scenarios by different performance. Again, well designed!
  9. Well, what can I say besides Many Thanks! MANY THANKS! OKOK, with so many potential issues. I would take the advice that just copying some files necessary between the two folders.
  10. After open beta updated to 2.7.2, the color are changed (at least in VR). Generally speaking it's not colorful like before. Green is coming to dark green, and the contrast against vehicles or buildings is greatly reduced. And the scenes in the MFCD are same much less contrasted, which make it much more difficult to find enemy, no matter in CCD mode / FLIR white hot / FLIR black hot modes... Must be some issues with the new color system...

  11. I installed both standalone stable version and open beta version in my computer. In the saved game folder in driver C:\users\... they have different two folders, "DCS" and "DCS.openbeta". Can I make them sharing only one folder? So that all those configurations and inputs bindings are exactly the same and I don't need to duplicate.
  12. It's a great campaign! Good story. Enjoy very much. And it's nice to use more F10 in radio menu to interact with wingman or lead to make the AI performance more accurate. While one thing could be improved in the future would be the voice recording quality, most of which are obviously in a room with echoes, making it somehow deviating from battle reality. The missions driven by the story are pretty good. As I played with VR and don't use label in order to be as real as possible, some missions especially those jobs against small objects such as soldiers are difficult and got low score. Think I will replay some of them to achieve higher ones.
  13. BTW , with recently more time on valve index, I do suggest to set the valve index the max. resolution which is 500%, and decrease the in game VR pixel density to 0.7 or 0.6 or even lower to get a smooth frame rate. From several tests, with same frame rate, I found above is better than trying to balance the setup such as Index 150% and in game VR pixel density 1.0 or above. And the "reshade" is definitely another plus.
  14. Again thanks for those comments of "1 module 1 month"... I respect guys focusing one thing at one time. While I think 1 month is probably not enough (maybe I am a slow learner). I have been learning BFM of hornet for several months, and I found myself still in a middle way. This topic, actually I mean (doesn't mean other modules are not good), is to share the idea that it's a great fun when diving into one module, and enjoying the great battles designed for it...
  15. Many thanks mate! The zip file you provided works fine!!!
  16. Thanks mates for discussion and advice of "reshade". I read and download (from thread DCS World and Reshade - DCS Mods - ED Forums (eagle.ru) ) however, it can work in my 2D screen, but cannot take effect in VR valve index. Did I miss any step?
  17. Nice comments. So happy to see guys same as me. Also learn something from those different... Thanks to all of you!
  18. Whatever reason: the first module ever learnt so systematically... so far the most developed module with the best manual... lots of CAS funs with air - ground force interactions... Looking forward to more sound campaigns.
  19. Yes, I do swap many times recently between G2 and Index. And stay with Index more now. BTW where can I find the “re shade” mode?
  20. Had both running for many months, and recently I got many apple to apple comparison and stay with Index more now. No doubt the G2 has much better resolution than index, which really made me working on it for pretty long time (nearly 5 months). While valve index makes me feel more compatible with: - wider field of view, feel better during enjoying the scenes - higher rate of refresh rate, this really make the eye comfortable - more enjoyable color This comparison is very personal. While I cannot refuse the G2's high resolution which really help to read the instrument panel more clearly. Just thinking to sell one and keep the other and stick to it. Hope not changing mind after another few months.
  21. mlMy experience on this topic: I have 4x32 inches monitors, I tried 3 landscape layout, also tried 4 in portrait, and 4 with 2 landscape in the middle and 2 portrait at side. They are all really good views in details in 2D displays. The total resolution are even better than one large 4K monitors. I also play with VR. I had valve index and recently got HP reverb G2. Eventually I stay in VR.
  22. Moved from Steam to standalone. (After 1300+ Game hours) I like to have more direct connections and updates... that’s it. BTW don’t know if others feel the same, the color quality looks a little better in standalone.
  23. Great details and solid training info. thanks. Looking forward to the campaign.
  24. in setup make it both eyes. realistic is a rather personal judgement when we are sitting in a room on a chair. anyway, it's at least the closest we can get.
  25. Stone shield mission 04. It should be a CAS task during our side ground attack. But the ground attack doesn't start no matter how. With many times flying there I found the problem maybe: I saw our group of 3 heli CH-47D, during their flying to the point, 2 of them crashed. I think that's why it doesn't move on. Can someone fix it?
