HOTAS Warthog updated drivers 2011-02-22

FWIW, I don't believe you'll ever see a movement that isn't a multiple of 64 in that mode of the analyzer. If you run the analyzer without a script/profile running, the slider only has 10 bit resolution (1024 values). Target is mapping it into a 16 bit INT for consistency... -

That is truly bizarre. Mine is definitely @ FW 20, too. I am passing it on. Teej -

Soviet PMed me about that. I'm unable to duplicate this. I set the slider to the exact value he gave as an example and after 8-10 minutes it hadn't changed once. I gave it a thump with my finger hard enough to change it and let it sit again for many minutes with no changes. I tried lots of different positions on both ends of the throw, and the closest I got to jerky/unstable was that sometimes (rarely) it would make one final change about 1 second after I moved it. Never got it to go back and forth between two values. Strange. -
In many ways I'd agree...up until you start talking about wanting to do cooperative online campaigns...then there's only 1 answer: AF. Graphics are weaker. Lack of working datalink is annoying. Giving up the sniper pod is painful... But man...designing your own 20-ship strike package - in the campaign mode, not a TE - and stuffing it with human players who could all successfully take on fuel en route...it was SO worth trading the above for. The year or so that AF was at its peak was probably my favorite year of gaming ever.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

There I was....strapped into a nice shiny A-10C. Gau-8 freshly loaded with combat mix...mavericks and slicks on the hard points....Life was great...except for two things. I was upside down, and under 6 feet of water. -
How 'bout posting this over at http://www.warthogworld.com ? Seems a better fit to a centralized Warthog information store rather than the IO subforum on ED's boards... As for me, I've used (mostly) in game for A-10 since it comes set up pretty well. For everything else i've done...I definitely set things up in TARGET. I've made an enhanced jagstang-like setup for F4AF and we definitely set up a profile for VTB flying.

Should've spent some more time on the later Falcon versions. Some of us used to fly tons of missions with aerial refueling. Sometimes we'd take extended BARCAP missions, drinking beer & tequila...tanking up the jets every now and then and maybe even cut an AMRAAM or two loose. I remember flights where 7-8 of us must've topped off our tanks 4-5 times each. One technique I pulled a few times when we wanted to take lots of weapons instead of extra gas was take my flight in a burner climb up to the tanker op areas, then top off and press. Visuals weren't as nice of course...but it worked pretty damn well...most of the time. -
Book too long. Watch the miniseries. ;)

Agreed. That stems from lazy pronunciation though. They should be obviously different in sound, but ironically I would find it easier to describe the difference in what I'm saying better in terms of chinese tones or russian hard/soft signs. Heh. Trouble is when people try to speed up the comms, the differences disappear.

Right...but since the changelog says: "Improved driving LEDs in T.A.R.G.E.T. software." I thought it went out. -
Don't forget your/you're and its / it's "etc." is spelled as such - it's an abbreviation of "et cetera", not " ect. " " your's " is never correct. "it's" means "it is" (or it was, it has, etc.) "its" means something that "belongs to it" - "its" is the impersonal replacement for "his" and "her". "his place, her mirror, its leg" One "correct" construct i hate is "whom". I know it's right...I know where to use it...it just sounds bad and is more difficult to say. :D It's like talking about "cool hwip" (family guy reference).

Each has its own challenges, and both have plenty of words that are subtly different in spelling or pronunciation...but vastly different in meaning. English... laughter vs slaughter ;) Chinese (cantonese at least) the difference between "hungry" and "diarrhea" is in the tone.

OK, installed and updated firmware. Either it didn't update my apps from the last beta I was testing...or they just published that beta. When loading the TARGET GUI I see "Release Candidate 3" on the splash, and when the screen comes up I see "RC 3.0.11.203" in the upper right. That what y'all got? -

Hmmm. Are you sure this option isn't there? I'd have thought they put it in based on the download page description. No option to "control LED state" below the firmware check on the throttle on the TARGET GUI? I've downloaded it but haven't taken the time to install yet due to the fact I hate rebooting. ;) -
Actually, the Thunderbirds do use G suits. The Blue Angels don't. He wasn't doing barrel rolls, he was flying flat and level so 6 could hold position off his wing for the Calypso pass. If he had been doing a barrel roll, there would've been positive G and nothing floating up to the canopy. :D But yeah, the emotion of your post holds. Balls of steel. :D Maybe it's not a G suit. Maybe it's just a belt to keep 'em from going through the canopy. :D

Wrong again. :D Joker (6) called over and said it looked like he had a yard sale going on. Wilbur then gave Joker the "Loser" sign. Thumb/forefinger "L"

Like Kon said, you can do it in flight as mentioned. If that doesn't do the trick for ya...try this: In DCS options, controls, click the pulldown (that says 'ALL' by default) and choose axis commands. Look for the JOYX and JOYY under the *THROTTLE* column. You can then choose those and use "axis tune".
-
Yeah, but it's like the ATC in F4AF that would have you orbit for spacing until you ran out of fuel even when you were the only plane flying in Korea. ;)
-
Yeah, well... kinda like Hannibal always says "I love it when a plan comes together!" In this case it's the contrapositive. I hate it when a plan falls apart. :D
-
You can definitely do it in TARGET. Some games will let you set it in the game, too. In A-10C, it's "saturation" and the default profile has it pulled down pretty well (15%) FC2 (and I assume BS) also have saturation you can tweak. If you can't figure it out, let me know - I'll post some suggestions if necessary, but I don't fly combat in FC2 so I don't have an example "at the ready" - I'd have to play with it a minute. I suspect it's the "y" saturation that needs to be pulled down. For anything else, you'll probably need to do it in TARGET. You would add a (negative) "zoom" factor to the axis to accomplish this. Probably ~ -7 or -8 would do it.
-
Because of the way it's used, you don't need the whole range of values the microstick offers. Therefore, you can tame its response by capping the max values it will return. It's returning like +/- 1024 values in each axis if I remember right. You really only need +/- 5 or 10 to give good proportional control to radar cursors and seeker head.

Nice. Even if that song annoys me on a grammatical basis. :D -
Part of the reason I play flight sims is to get away from the subscription / unlockables extortion crap of console games. No thanks. Kinda like when Ferrari released their F1 game with the test track. I bought in at that point knowing that extra tracks would cost more money later. However, when they released Mugello, the pricing was such that people who bought in early like me were screwed - the amount we'd already paid, plus the mugello upgrade, was _higher_ than the cost of someone just signing up to buy the test track & mugello together. I realize they later altered their pricing plan slightly, but when that came out, I uninstalled the test track and didn't look back. FTS.
