  4. Afaik the books excerpts report first hand experiences from the pilots who flew those missions, they're not fictional books. Strongly recommended btw.
  5. In the videos posted before in this thread, appears to be a red shift in the tracers when moving away from the camera. Maybe is some chemical effect or caused by the lens? I wonder why the ZSU tracers aren't red in the sim then. Thanks for the explanation gentlemen :)
  6. My apologies for resurrecting this old thread. By chance I found that by the Doppler Effect, a light source moving away from the observer causes a shift toward the red end of the light spectrum, so it is called a red shift. When the light source is moving toward the observer causes a shift toward the high-frequency end of the light spectrum, and such frequency shift is actually called a blue shift. That's what causes the effect of the tracers appear to be red? All depends on the point of view, and therefore may be too much to ask that this effect is simulated :smartass:

  9. Great story, thanks for sharing. HUD gone south and strafing with the Standby pipper? badass. IMHO this is the kind of story that show how important the CAS role is, and how rewarding for the pilot must be.

  11. I understand your reasoning and of course I would love that both companies work closely together each one contributing what they know best for our entertainment. I've been dreaming about realistic virtual battlefields for years, but I still can't see where it would be the benefit to both companies that deserves such an epic endeavor. For some reason the film 'Lost in translation' comes to my mind - make it suntory time ;) I think that a big chunk of DCS fans would purchase the respective ARMA/DCS updates but I'm not sure that this would happen in reverse. I do not think that most ARMA users would find it so attractive than DCS users. I mean, most of DCS users would/actually find comfortable firing an assault rifle in ARMA world, but I doubt that most of ARMA users would find amusing the complexity of a flight DCS module. At best, a niche of both niches would be interested. For the record, I've been enjoying BIS work since OPF days. As a counterexample, DCS: P-51D module is a genius move, with a moderate effort they can potentially attract many customers outside the regular DCS users's profile.

  13. what about Silent Hunter guys flooding our fleet? or the Train Simulator folks taking a ride across the battlefield? and OMG how could you forgot the honourable gentleman playing Farm Simulator under artillery fire? :) What would be the benefit of the companies that lend themselves to such an effort?
