Important Kickstarter Security Notice
Korn replied to billeinstein's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Yeah money went through Amazon Payments. Kickstarter passwords worth is zero, probably just some kid trying his hand. -
Pilot shows dead how do I continue to use the profile?
Korn replied to rcoplien's topic in General Questions
Search in the said file for "["dead"] = true," and replace "true" with "false". Use notepad++ not windows notepad. -
Nice changelog :) but Mi-8 refueling bug still here it seems :(

And how were things untill the crash? No warping, no problems?

66% off on steam vs 60% off in the DCS store?
Korn replied to howie87's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
2. Most likely :B 1. No particular reason and it's still cheaper for EU customer to buy directly from ED since Steam atm. I'm guessing for US the Steam deal it's better. Personally i'll buy directly from the developer, all things being equal, but i'm as cheap as anyone else :B. That being said i actually bought all my modules from ED even though the best deal i saw was probably something like 5 bucks for the A-10C on Origin at some point. -
You're welcome, i hope it helped. I'm actually posting to correct my previous statement about the Fighterstick resolution, it's not 128 but 256 per axis (128 it's the middle point so i wrote that without thinking). I just checked and my stick has just turned 7 last week lol and like i said thousand of hours of use (1000+ on il2 alone so it's not an exageration). I really liked this stick (i also have an x-52 and a M$ Sidewinder FF2 which i don't use) and i still do but this is definitely the last stick i'll ever buy with pots in it. I think it's ridiculous to use potentiometers in this day and age when you have cheap, reliable and extremely precise digital sensors available. So in that respect i find it hard to recommend CH Products anymore. Also it's really not cheap for a stick (especially since you can only buy a separate throttle also from CH or you need to buy a whole HOTAS just for the throttle). LE: there are some interesting sticks from Russia here: http://flightsimcontrols.com/store/joysticks/ However hard to find info from actual users, probably all are posting in russian forums only.

I didn't use the 16000M but i can tell you this: The CH build quality is way higher. It has longer throw but low resolution (old style: pots) of 128 per axis. The pots are high quality and very likely will have a long life (i have thousands of hours in 10 years on mine) but they're still just pots. Also the Fighterstick has a somewhat unusual gimbal system which some people dislike. Unfortunatelly CH Products stopped selling spare parts (like pots) this or last year so if one of the pots it's screwed so are you, they're a rather non standard electronic part and you'll have quite a hard time finding a replacement. That being said it's safe to said that a Fighterstick will most likely last you way longer than the 16000M. Also fyi the Fightestick it's not a twistie. The X-55 it's not priced yet but definitely will be more expensive than the X-52pro so do your math. Still it will probably be cheaper than the Warthog, i don't see that it will be enough so but what do i know.
-
Yes X-55 will very likely be in limbo pricewise, cheaper then the Warthog but not enough so, more expensive than X-52 Pro but not with enough extra-features. I might even get over it not being FF which frankly i feel most people were waiting for if they at least would have gone for a full digital sensor solution, but no, Hall effect sensors on stick x/y and... that's it. Pots everywhere else. I'm really really tired of pots since like 5 years ago, about time they would gimme a break with the goddamned pots. Thrustmaster did with the Warthog HOTAS, i'm not hearing anyone bitching and moaning asking for their pots back :).

If the cause really was the 6 reloads then the tracers should dissapear for everyone at the same time (assuming they were on the server from the begining). That is not the case.

No. Current version (1.2.6) still works on 32bit.

Trouble starting DCS - May give up on spending $ on such programs!
Korn replied to skc's topic in Game Crash
DirectX 9/10/11 are not mutually exclusive and will happily coexist. You should think of them as entirely separate APIs. So as a gamer you would need 9.0c, 10.1 and 11.1 (or 11.0) all installed. Check c:\windows\syswow64 for d3*.dll files. If there is a d3d9.dll file you probably have DirectX 9 already installed. If not, you need to install it, DCS Word will not run without it. dl link on M$ site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 dl link on softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/DirectX-9.0c-Redistributable.shtml -

The Rise and Fall of the Flight Sim Genre
Korn replied to adonys's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Errr that's exactly what he said too, that it's not difficulty of learning but its lack of fun. He even gave the same Starcraft example, if i remember correctly. LE: regarding (5), it's not that he's reading from a board, it's that it's placed (way) to the side instead of above/below the camera and you can clearly see what he's doing :). -
Yes what a great boost when you can pledge 1 dollar right now and secure 3 planes. I'm sure millions will be made that way. Let's not get paranoid.
-
Pls if any mods around move my vote to P-47 as i ticked the Spit by mistake lol sorry :P. Guys pls report my post so that somebody in charge will see it and correct the poll as i can't undo my mistake, 10x. Already reported myself... So... good thread imo and i see no problem with it since Luthier asked for the community's take on this. I never understood the three free planes. Seems like a lot of work to just hand out for nothing. One is enough, should get one free so that people can get into the sim but why more? I think the Thunderbold is the best choice since probably more people would be willing to pay for the Spit and the 109. I personally love the P-47 just as much but i think it wouldn't be the same draw as the other two. Also... i didn't pledge yet so i have no agenda here, in fact for me it would be cheaper to stay as it is and just get the 3 and the beta for a meager ten bucks. But i have no problem paying more... not that i'm swimming in money but three DCS Mustang level planes @10USD seems like stealing... i mean it's ridiculous. So i'll wait still to see things clarified.

DCS WWII: Europe 1944 - Unofficial Promotional Trailer
Korn replied to Bucic's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Good promo video, but it lacks shots from the very nice Mustang cockpit. DCS cockpits are a really strong suit so i don't understand why they're not shown. -
I can't understand your conclusion here. Since it clearly states "from DCS: World" i can only assume this means the module from DCS World, and not (separately) from DCS WW2. I think this even means there is no separate licence for the Dora and the Mustang just for DCS WW2. I mean, it says "from DCS World". It does not say "not from DCS World, but special module for DCS WW2".
-
Thank you for letting us know. We were looking forward for this information.
-
This need some clarification, on Kickstarter for both the Mustang and Dora says "from DCS: World". The way i understand this is that they are NOT included in the WW2: Europe 44 and need to be purchased separately. This makes perfect sense imo. I think they need to make things crystal clear in regards to flyables included in the free version and with each tier on Kickstarter, especially with the P-51 and 190D being released separately by ED.

1.2.6 after autoupdate Freetrack headtracking does not work
Korn replied to zaelu's topic in View System
We put it in "DCS Word/bin", also keeping it in "DCS Word/bin/headtracker". We (well, me and zaelu at least) didn't chage the path in input.lua (so for us it's still "DCS Word/bin/headtracker") since that apparently doesn't work anymore. At least not completelly so... Maybe try the other dll file... i'm using samtheeagle's version with Freetrack. LE: make sure you have the same dll file @both locations... since it doesn't work without the one reffered by input.lua i should think there will be troubles if you have different heatracker.dll files in /bin and /bin/headtracker. I'm thinking it should also work editing input.lua to point directly at /bin/headtracker.dll with no need for the /headtracker folder. -
1.2.6 after autoupdate Freetrack headtracking does not work
Korn replied to zaelu's topic in View System
They must have hardcoded some stuff, taking precedence over the .lua files. Like the tracker dll path and server.lua. Hopefully the way it came out is more or less an accident. -
Docs are in the individual aircraft folder. For instance: [yourdcsfolder]\Mods\aircrafts\Mi-8MTV2\Doc\ Best practice is to make shortcuts to the manuals somewhere convenient instead of copying them to a more accessible location as they get updated quite often.
