OK Thanks Taz, This bug or whatever it is gets annoying. I have managed to forget to delete the fxo file contents. If I miss one play session then it comes back. I have always said "What makes you strong makes you weak". The precision weapons are terrible with out the TGP. I got notepad++ today I will give the lua file edit a shot. SilverDevil, Have you tried both methods? This evening my weapons and my guns just decided not to release / not to fire. I tested my HOTAS with the control panel and the DCS control binding utility. Both worked there, but not in the game. I checked and re-checked my control line-up in cockpit. This was the third flight in a 3 sortie mission I had going (hot reloads). Everything worked fine in the first two sorties and I made no changes between flights. I have no clue what is up with that. Caldera

Thanks, I worry about being a pest. I am pretty much lost at allot of this after coming back to the PC after many years of XBox gaming only. FWIW I did pop each and every light bulb on the top row. Caldera

I turned the Shader Cache OFF today and I am being really keen on deleting the contents of the fxo folder after I am done playing. So far so good. I am very great full to understand this work around. It really had me annoyed. Thanks again! Another topic however, how does one automatically attach the text at the bottom of posts. Like the stuff that describes my system specs? Caldera

Thanks guys; But... I have been playing a little tonight. Still trying to practice using precision A-G weapons. The problem that I am having is that the WHot white out and BHot black out came back with a vengeance. Although, it seemed to work for a little while I had the shader turn off in the NVidia control panel. But, I turned it back on because it seemed that my load times got quite a bit longer. So prior to starting DCS I deleted the contents of the fxo folder. The metahshader2 folder now seems to remain empty. I took off and first attack run the gremlin reappears. Everything seemed OK, more or less, until I fired the first Maverick. Then the TGP became a total mess. So I exited the game and deleted the contents of fxo file again. So I took off again and first attack run the gremlin comes back again. I have not had this problem until today with the new update loaded. I wonder... I will turn the NVidia shader back off and try again at another time. Kinda pissed ATM. Caldera

Yeppers! That took care of it. Thanks! Caldera

Thanks, I did find two folders: USERS --> name -->Saved Games --> DCS --> fxo and USERS --> name -->Saved Games --> DCS --> metashaders2 Are these two correct for what you are referring too? This pretty much makes things unplayable. Caldera

Hey guys, Been progressing and I am not working up to precision weapons. I have developed a major issue and I do not know what I did to create it. Flying today, after the update, whenever I selected WHot or BHot with the TGP there was very a good chance that TGP screen would black out for BHot or white out for WHot. If I selected CCD I could make out some features but they were pretty blurry. Sometimes, when I zoomed in or out and the features of BHot or WHot would resume. At those times I was getting very good contrast. However, both seemed very temperamental when they would actually work. But, CCD just about always seems blurry at all zooms. Another thing that happened today is B... Betty (Beautiful Betty) has regained her voice and now warns me verbally again. Initially and in the past she had been working, then quit for some reason some time ago. I had just figured that I had some how shut her off permanently. But, I had no clue how I did that. Any ideas? Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start

UNCLE! One small hint as to where or how I check the weather conditions be too much to ask? Caldera -
Thanks Frederf, I think I get most of it. The "M/" part I am going to have to take a look at a bit more. Not quite getting that part yet. My Cougar MFD's came out of the box, got hooked up to the PC and then I went straight into DCS. They worked perfectly. DCS already had the Direct X buttons set up with no effort on my part. If the stuck button thing happens again I will pop out of the game and check out control panel to see where the mischief actually lies. So far, two different buttons have stuck. The last time it happened I quit the game and then checked control panel. I found no issues. The problem with a stuck MFCD button is that: a) the master warning won't shut up b) both MFCD's get a yellow banner covering a good portion of the display. Annoying... Off subject, is there a way to minimize the DCS window without using alt-tab? Caldera

I am a "New Guy" and a "Noob" so this thread seemed the best fit. I have some questions and I am sorry if this is a repeat or the wrong thread. I could not find what I was looking for. If possible, I would like a bit of advice. I don't know at this point if I am doing something wrong or things are going as intended. I have two Cougar MFD's. Two times now I have gotten LEFT MFCD BUTTON STUCK error. The problem is that I don't think that the button was really stuck. The last time it happened I had taken some damage to my left wing. The only thing I can put together is that both are left. I get on the ground. I managed to get the repair crew to fix my aircraft. The big hole in my left wing was gone. However, they would not take a look at the MFCD and the button stayed stuck. Is this a glitch? In the game I have only progressed to dropping / firing dumb weapons. I have some questions about the way that the ripple function and save works. My current load out is: 2-1 mk82 3-21 rockets 4-21 rockets 5-3 mk82 6-mt 7-3 mk82 8-21 rockets 9-21 rockets 10-1 mk82 If I select: 2 and 10 --> save them to release as a pair--> release --> both 2 and 10 will release If I select: 5 and 7 --> save them to release as a pair--> release --> two will fall off from 7 and none from 5 It doesn't really make sense to me for it to happen like that. It would make more sense to release one from each wing. Is this what should happen? Lets say that I set up my rockets to release as ripple pairs and set the number of pairs to 21. When I fire the rockets by continuously holding the fire button only 21 rockets will launch, not 21 pairs of rockets. To fire all of them all it seems like I have to select 42 pairs. This seems to be the case for the bombs as well. To release all six at once I have select 6 pairs. Is this what should happen? If I save a profile for rockets. Before I fire any of the rockets I decide I want to use bombs instead. After releasing the bombs I want to go back to rockets. But, the recent profile for rockets that I had saved a few minutes prior is now forgotten. I have to re-input and save the profile again. Is this what should happen? Caldera

Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks again guys, I'll take a look at that save profile procedure you describe, that could be useful. I did take a look at the mission builder, my brain just kind of went "WHAAAAAAAAT????". I will give it a try again. I tried to re-create the alignment issue. I could not get it to happen again either. On one quick mission save that I had, it happened 100% of the time. Dunno... I saw that alternative alignment in a Ralfidude video. Thought I would give it a try in the future. Caldera -

Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
rT, I guess it is just progresses and is an evolution of sorts. I began clueless (still am) and it was simply a puzzle to be solved. I started with the TRAINING missions, but I found out that they cover the A-10C not the A-10C ii. So my DCS HOTAS binds were not working because I had set them up for the A-10C ii. Annoying... However, I did learn how to do a start. So I started doing quite a few INSTANT ACTION "Cold and Dark" missions to practice starts, taxis, take-offs, landings, flight and stops. I was using the mouse for cockpit controls. Some of the mouse clicks are in positions of the cockpit can be pretty well obscured or hard for me to see. So I programed them into my Logitech x56 throttle to make that part easier. So then I thought "huh", the x56 is easily programmable. The throttle has seven two way switches that can be configured in three possible modes. Each switch position can contain several keyboard key press binds in succession. I simply programed the DCS keyboard binds into the switches and configured them in logical groups. I set it up so that it happens just as if I was pressing keys on the keyboard. Now, I just have to move these switches in correct sequence and at the right time during the start. This sends all the keyboard key presses in the correct order and I can't really forget anything or do it wrong. It also makes me feel like I am starting "something" by physically moving "something". The programing part was quite easy actually and in that process I have become pretty familiar with the start process, manual or automated. Next, I learned how to use the cannon and to use dumb bombs / rockets. While annihilating my comrads in arms on the ground or at sea was fun, fratricide seemed a little wrong and is frowned upon by the game. So I looked into QUICK FAST MISSION. The first tries were absolutely overwhelming. On the first little small window that opens after selecting QUICK FAST MISSION I noticed that there are several drop down boxes with various options. So when I say (type) "Caucasus summer ramp noon" and "clear" that is just a summary of the options I selected on that first page. In addition, after generating the mission, I select ADVANCED OPTIONS. There are are a bunch of drop down windows on this page for both teams. This allows me to tone things down a whole lot, where I can practice. I can also change my load outs. From there, after selecting FLY MISSION being placed in a HAS is just a random result of selecting those options as it sometimes places me on the tarmac or in a parking spot. I have been saving the mission to reduce time that it takes to re-start a mission after quitting the game. One of these saved missions is where my troubles, explained above, started. Programing the x56 trigger also allows me to simulate a two stage trigger pull. Thus, I can turn on PAC1 and then the cannon will fire 400 milliseconds later all in the process of a single actual trigger pull. I find that convenient. Thanks for your help. I have never once paid any attention to OAT or really any other weather variable. But I will start to do so. Kind of seems like an airplane thing. Caldera -
Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hey guys, I am still really new at this. Trying to really just learn dumb weapons right now. I struggle with finding targets and navigation. Allot... The mission that I was using (and still am) was a quick mission. Caucasus summer noon ramp The game started me in the HAS. Are you trying to tell me that it was too hot? Funny now I wonder, because I had set up an earlier mission using the same conditions. The engine start-up took really long. The engines would not wake up. The take off was just barely. I mean I barely got off the ground. I could tell that power was pretty low. I struggled to climb. I noticed that the fan speed was maxing at like 72%. I never figured out why. Thought I had done something wrong and reloaded another quick mission. It is almost like the (simulated) EGT fuel limiter is really effected by OAT? Seems excessive... Because I am so green, the acronyms are a bit difficult. DTC? SLT? Caldera -
Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Let me update you. I have since started the same plane in the same (almost) hardened hanger with no issues except getting the navigation system to align. I found out that I had to pull the plane outside to do that properly. I have done the alignment during taxi. The T= number counts up to 5 something. That normal? Seems that at times I do not know really if I am doing something wrong or the game glitches. Usually just too confused anyways. Caldera -
Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hello rT, Thanks for the reply. As to the track? I think that I got it attached correctly. When you see the ENG CYCLE START light going in and out it is me moving my left throttle controller. One thing that I did discover is that the mission that I chose had me starting inside of hardened hanger. The engine core speed (guessing high speed rotor rpm) is not going above 52%. While the engine is still trying to run up, the EGT is going to be elevated. But kind of gets stuck there. This is what I had noticed before. Maybe it is just not getting enough air to increase rpm? Too many exhaust fumes? So then I could not figure out how to get my good for not allot (GFNA) ground crew (GFNAGC) to move the plane out of the hanger. Nor, would they open the back door. So I said "Huh?". I chose another mission that started me out on the tarmac. This time the start seem to go normally. Pretty much the same as the cold and dark start. Can't get engines to start in A-10C cold and dark start
Caldera replied to gulfcoastfella's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hey all, First post, new to DCS. Having an issue related to engine starts. I have no problem starting in cold and dark. But.... f I load up a quick mission on the ramp I have problems. Using the same exact procedure that I use for cold and dark problems happen. Let me state that I have developed a start macro system using my x56 that works flawlessly. After allot of testing and re-testing I know that I am doing it right. Also let me state, that I wait for the CDU start-up to progress to the point where the engine alarms reset, except for oil and hydraulic pressure. After starting the left engine the ENG START CYCLE light comes on and stays on. I can never start the right engine. I have figured out that if I move my left throttle controller forward a bit to idle the ENG START CYCLE light will go out. Now I can start the right engine. Same thing happens. The ENG START CYCLE light stays on until I move my right throttle controller forward a bit to idle. I have never had to do this for cold and dark. I simply leave both throttles fully aft and start away. I have also noticed that where usually the engines will run up for a short period of time just before the ENG START CYCLE light will go out, where I see the EGT go up for a few seconds then back down. When the ENG START CYCLE light issue comes up, the EGT stays up. Another thing happens next... So now I have both engines running with both throttle controllers pushed a bit forward at idle. I stop the APU. Now the CDU / MFDD's will start a cycle of off - restart - off - restart - off etc... Gave up on it for now. Any advice appreciated, Caldera
