  1. I'm amazed there's been this much confusion and discussion over something as simple as this. Forward = Up = ^ Aft = Down = \/ Left= < Right = > It its one of the throttle switches IE the china or boat switch Forward = Away from you Aft = Towards you Short = Tap less than 0.5 seconds Long = Hold longer than 0.5 seconds. This really isn't that difficult to grasp is it!? If it is, perhaps we shouldn't be flying a study sim, things are gonna get a lot harder for you :P Either hit the books or hit the sack! /thread
  2. Seems pretty self explanatory to me! :P Hi Sir, Not yet, they have sold a lot better than expected, so we are waiting on Thrustmaster to give us a new lead time. (Delivery estimate) My sarcasm detector may be faulty this evening, I'm tired! So apologies if that sounded condescending! :P
  3. Very good! I'd add some static noise as the rockets fire, as they'd more than likely interfere with the video. Probably encode the video in a lower quality too, the pixelation will make it look more human. Looks great!
  4. Think he was being sarcastic
  5. Serial #: 00164 Location: Kent, UK
  6. Well after all my worries about HDNL, and reading that they don't deliver on a Saturday, it turned up this morning! All in one piece, and with a friendly driver. And wow, what a stick. This thing is SUPER solid, and just oozes quality from every surface. Ive had no chance to fly it for more than 5 minutes to take off, and already, I'm in love. After my X-52 which I love, this thing is just another world of quality, simply fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who's on the fence.
  7. It's a repeating beep, however it is consistent, theres no pauses. Deeper sounding and a bit slower than the turn performance warning.
  8. Try taking off with a shallower climb angle. As Sobek says, you may be taking off and pulling to the limits of the flight performance.
  9. Sometimes we have to be the ones that kick up a fuss before anything gets sorted which is a shame. Everyone wants to be the nice guy, but it seems like they really do finish last! Im just hoping mine arrives on time, that in itself sounds like it'll be a feat! Teaches me for ordering with free delivery I guess. 24 hours on and HDNL still have no record of my parcel according to their site...
  10. It did. They used to have it in the A, and I believe the YA-10B did too (being built from an A-10A). In the C however they took it out, the thing that real pilots get that we simmers don't is feel. In a real plane with the speedbrakes out, the pilot can feel noticeable drag on the aircraft. Imagine driving your car with the brakes dragging, you could feel it.
  11. Haha I'll be holding you to that Succellus! Reading multiple reviews of them leaving things thrown over gates in the rain, taking it to the depot without attempting delivery etc! I agree with Thamuff, the majority of people that post a review will take the time to post it because they've had problems, and the happy customers stay quiet, but the fact that just searching their name in google brings up more negative reviews than general information is a little disconcerting. Fingers crossed!
  12. How did you UK guys oder yours? Anyone got it today with Home Delivery Network? Mine was dispatched last night, and HDNL still have no trace of my order, Amazon tracking just says "In Transit".
  13. After reading up on Home Delivery Network I'm a little worried as to the safety of my TMWH :( Hopefully it will get here this year, and in one piece!
  14. Knew I could count on you guys :) I'm amazed at how agile it is considering its size!
  15. Found it! But it's in Russian, I can't find the English one I saw! Go to 21:00!
  16. I don't THINK it was either of those, something makes me think it was a bit more snub nosed, it was very unassuming for the way it performed, but without seeing that clip again I can't be sure!
  17. I was watching a program on Discovery a while ago, one of those future weapons style things (I don't know the actual program) Basically they were showcasing a new helo (maybe not brand new, but within the last 5-6 years I think. It was capable of carrying troops at extremely high speed, maybe about 6-8 people. One of the things they showed was a training operation, showing the way it could be used to make quick ground intercepts. They had a car driving along a dirt road at high speed - to simulate insurgents - and flew the helo up very high, and then dipped it to about 65-70% nose down and built up insane speed. They just swooped over the car, turned it on a dime dropped it on the road in front, the troops jumped out and surrounded the car at gunpoint. I'd love to see this thing again! EDIT: Found it! Go to 21:00. Anyone know what this is?
  18. Just got my dispatched notice, time to devote myself to unreasonable hope of getting it tomorrow!
  19. Absolutely been my game plan so far, I've got startup down and I can fly a flight plan according to the TAD and land it, but like you say, I get lost when things change up a bit. Thanks again guys, I think I'm gonna get myself an iPad for the manual :P
  20. Very simple, makes me feel silly! Thanks Eddie. What pages on the CDU, and navigation systems would you recommend getting under my belt first? I find it hard to just read every page in the manual and retain the information. What do all you guys find yourselves using the most?
  21. This is probably another easy one, however I can't seem to find a simple answer, so I'll pull the trigger on myself! I've started my reading on the CDU which looks like it'll be the hardest system to learn, and I can't seem to get my head around the difference of waypoints and steerpoints. What's the difference?
  22. I'm too spent this month to pay up for better postage! Free super saver is quoting 2-4th Nov :(
  23. For helos, I would really not want an FS stick! I've got my Warthog on preorder, so I might be a little biased... Buuuut, WARTHOG WARTHOG WARTHOG!
  24. It's definitely a good start, and Kuky was being a little blunt :P You'll just find that each of those parts over time might be a bit restrictive. Having personal experience with all the components you listed I have to agree to an extent. The T Flight HOTAS is a pretty good stick, but has a limited amount of controls and customisability IMO. You just better be prepared to use a keyboard aswell to keep on top of things. I'd look towards maybe an X-52 second hand or even an X-45 if you're really on a budget. As far as FreeTrack goes, I'm done with it. The amount of time I spent putting together a track hat, wiring up LED's, going through batteries, then going to the TCP, which broke very fast unfortunately, and still getting lame FPS in the software, just gave me a headache. All the time that I spent trying to get it running smooth, probably equated to half my flight hours in LOMAC. I tried multiple cameras, lighting settings, camera settings, LED's etc, nothing could get it just right. I bought a TrackIR, and in 5 minutes it was setup better than Freetrack EVER has been in any setup. It was worth its money twice over is all I can say. Just the Vector clip is worth it to be honest, no wires or batteries! As you say, it's a beginner setup, but you have to look at it practically. You get into a sim for the fun of it. You accept that you'll spend a long time learning the flight systems You buy your cheap startup gear. You spend about... Forever getting FreeTrack setup, and get it to a sub par level, but say "Screw it, I just wanna fly now!" Plug in your HOTAS, and spend a couple of hours mapping keys, another couple testing them. Writing down what you can afford to keep on the keyboard and what you need on the HOTAS buttons. You realise theres not enough buttons, and spend a while learning keyboard shortcuts. After all this, you're finally ready to fly... Right about now, I would be ready for bed, and have a headache. While Kuky was a little blunt, he was onto something. I'd just word it differently. You can get cheap gear that will work, and will last a long time. Sure, you could even call it good. However, for the time and effort, but mostly the compromises you'll make to get it all good, you'll end up wishing you spent the money. I say this cause I did. I got a MS sidewinder and setup FreeTrack. After about a month I bought an X-52 and gave up on FreeTrack, and that did me well for about 2-3 years. I just bought a TrackIR 5 and I've never flown as much in all my time in sims. Cut short - Buy pricey, buy once.
  25. My X-52 does this aswell sometimes. I believe it's down to the usb settings in BIOS.
