  1. Hey guys, since this is over a year old and I am intending to upgrade from a 5900X, what is currently the best CPU for DCS? GPU is a 4090. Is it a 7900/7950X3D or Intel's top dog? Should I wait for the 14 series of Intel? Generally, I prefer Intel for my next rig, since AMD did not convince me platform wise (crappy USB implementation, even now after all these updates to the USB my G2 is not totally perfect and I have crackling from my USB-C Audio Interface which I use as a soundcard). However, if the X3D-CPUs are significantly faster, I would go with AMD another time.
  2. Does nobody have an idea? I cannot complete the last mission of the campaign ("Offensive Counter-Air") without the help of a wingman. I am alone and there are 4 migs, almost no AA weaponry on my plane but MK84.
  3. Hey guys, why does my wingman not start from the carrier in campaign missions? Sometimes he does, but I have no control over it. I try to give commands (yes, right frequency) that would require him to start in order to comply, but that does not help either. Sometimes he starts as soon as I approach the carrier to land after I almost had my <profanity> ruined during missions due to his lack of support or even presence.
  4. Okay, I have the Steam Edition. Is there a list that shows for each DLC which Maps I need?
  5. Hey guys, I want to buy all campaigns of the F18. But I have no maps other than the Caucasus Map that belongs to the game and the Supercarrier pack (and ofc the F-18). Can I play all F18 campaigns?
  6. Hey guys I am stuck in the abovementioned mission. I obey all the instructions and wait at WP 2 until all other planes left the area which to me is an indication that the sky should be clear of SAMs. However, I keep getting shot down, likely by IR-guided missiles since I receive no warning. It always happens when I make my run on the tank platoons on the river bank, close to WP3. I even got shot down by an Anti-Tank Missile once. How do I complete the mission?
  7. I am pulling this up. I bought a X56 and I have a problem of which I do not know if it is related to this. I do not have a problem with the throttle randomly activating any keys, but rather with the ingame throttle position randomly changing from full thrust to idle and to positions in between in very short intervalls. Sometimes it disappears all of a sudden. When I look into the Joystick settings, everything is fine, and sometimes it seems to help to Alt-Tab and then get back into the game. Tried all sorts of USB-Connectivity, problem still is there.
  8. Ah! That is important to know, so I do not constantly manage throttle power and collective position, but rather but the throttle power somewhere ("just fly dude") and the actual steering of the helo is what the collective does. So it is purposeful to put the collective on the HOTAS and have the throttle power on some easily accessible, but not necessarily as-accurate-as-the-HOTAS-throttle-axis.
  9. Yeah, I looked at Wiki, but I wanted to know, how I use them and what distincts them from a throttle. I thought the throttle makes "more lift" and if I leave the main stick where it is, the RPM from the rotors applied via the throttle brings me upwards, and if I tilt the stick forward, it moves the ROM from the rotors applied via the throttle bring me forwards. I was not aware that a helo needs another "enitity" to make a helo work like helos work (and still cannot comprehend why ).
  10. Hey guys, the last time I was flying a chopper was in Comanche 3 back in 199x somewhere. You increased throttle and if you wanted to go forward, you push the stick down, if you want to stop or go backwards, you pull the stick back. After buying the AH64, I learnt choppers are not that easy as after failing flying the AH64 like I flew the Comanche, I noticed there is an another stick: "The collective" (I am not kidding you, I noticed only now that helos have such a thing). How does the collective work and do you have a suggestion where to Map on X56 HOTAS? The rotor power I have on the thrust, the other controls are "like in a plance". I occassionally tried around with the collective and managed to move around a little bit, still, I did not do anything "on purpose". So - what does the collective to - it is only one axis, correct?
  11. Now that it works with a Reverb G2, how do I run it on the same PC that also has a Q2 via Airlink? It runs via SteamVR, but I want to run it with OpenComposite. So I switched to OpenComposite and definded the Oculus Runtime as active OpenXR-Runtime via the Runtimeswitcher. However, as soon as I start the Game via Virtual Desktop, it only runs in 2D.
  12. With regard to the radar elevation, does the upper and lower number indicate the feets covered above and below ME?
  13. Hey guys, I am trying to learn how to BVR and watched multiple radar tutorials. I downloaded a training mission to learn where multiple TU95 and few SU34 are flying around. I select the AMRAAM, switch to TWS, 4 Bar, 40 Miles, tried both Medium and High PRF. Once I see the dudes on the radar, I put the Target Designation Thing above them, Depress TDC - target gets locked (at least appears to do so; it says "Lock" on the small display in the upper right of the cockpit window). So now for the issues: 1) Friends are identified as such - Foes not. NCTR is enabled. It also does not show any data on the left SMS display under the weapon information which it is also supposed to do once locked. 2) The AMRAAM is supposed - according to my knowledge - to hit from a distance. But it takes ages before it says "IN LAR" and the "Shoot" appears in the abovementioned small display. It only locks at distances of maybe 8 NM. So - what is the problem with me? Attached is also a trackfile. 4.trk
  14. It works now. Apparently, having SteamVR in the registry as active runtime avoided it from working properly. I downloaded this little tool: https://github.com/WaGi-Coding/OpenXR-Runtime-Switcher It basically looks up the common directories where the VR runtimes are installed and changes the registry entry accordingly when chosing another runtime. I switched the runtime to WMR and now it works. Might also be interesting if you have multiple headsets, I have a Quest 2, too. Once here - is there any opportunity to get an overlay that shows me the actual current resolution I am running the game in? fpsVR for SteamVR was fine, but that does not work of course without SteamVR.
  15. I restarted the PC. When I retried, it did not crash, but it lauched SteamVR when I started DCS. I had OpenComposite Running ("Status: Open Composite") and have the openvr_api.dll in the DCS\bin\ folder replaced with the downloaded one (1389kb size). However, the fpsVR-Overlay stated that, despite it launched SteamVR, "Open Composite DCS" was running. Is that supposed to be that way? Furthermore, I discovered the following registry-entry: Is it supposed to be that way? Can someone who has it working look it up?
  16. I tried that yesterday and unfortunately, I receive an error message: "OpenXR Call failed, aborting". I noticed that there is a post with someone having the same error message, has this problem been solved (without grinding through 80 pages of postings )?
  17. So after I went through some forums, there are people that are happy with meeting the 45fps sweetspot for reprojection and some want the 90fps. Has anyone tried to use the Reverb G2 in 60hz mode with 60fps as reprojection target?
  18. Thank you guys, read the starting post again and it indeed says 80% - sorry for overlooking that. It says 90 constantly in the menus but when ingame, the fps start to change.
  19. Hey guys, found this thread while looking for a clue whether my system is running "smooth" enough or something is messed up as with a G2, there is so much interdependency between various settings (WMR, SteamVR, DCS, NV-settings) that it is quite easy to overlook something. I have a RTX 3090 and a AMD Ryzen 9 5900 CPU, 32 GB Ram and a Aorus X570 Ultra Board, G2 installed into a Titan Ridge Thunderbolt PCI-E card. I use the recommended setting the Threadstarter suggests in his first post and I just clicked on "VR" in the DCS graphics settings. When I start the F15C mission "quick start" and "bomber interception", I have around 45-50 FPS if I put the Supersampling slider in Steam VR to "100%" (which it says is approx 3x3k). Is that ok? Where do I have to put the slider to have 90fps with motion reprojection? Cannot find that last info in the starting post.
