Yes Nate, you have the idea.:)
-
Thanks. On going scenario would be nice. Maybe in the future, sometime.
-
Read last statement, just thought it was a cool feature. cheez.
-
Yes, yes, but was trying to get a feature in, that would be cool regardless of just flying and/or Combat flying. I hope ED takes a look at a feature such as this, it may not be quite the same but takes into account how hard or what gets shot up on your aircraft and for those that just fly how hard you abuse your aircraft. I do believe an option such as this has some merit for both types of sims.Would you not agree? Not asking for a hard and fast answer but rather is it not an idea worth some merit. It happens in RL. and should be not to difficult to simulate the feature. It's just a cool idea that one has that could be a feature that is similar for ED, that would add more RL features. That's all. Not trying to get anything going here, just thought it was cool. Maybe other may take a different look and probably will, no problem.
-
Which do you feel is going to be closer to RL. DCS or A2A. Take Combat out of it. Which A/C is going to give you a better RL feeling of flying the Actual aircraft. Correct me if I am wrong but is ED going to simulate the ware and tare on the aircraft? It does ware as you fly it even if it is a sim. Real nice feature one I hope ED will adopt for Combat. In Combat, to me this would be even a bigger part of simulation as we know how much each pilot will tax the limits of his aircraft, instead of jumping into a brand new plane every mission. I think IMO this would be very cool for DCS. Each pilot gets his own aircraft until such time as the original is no longer flyable. In which case at that time he can get a new one. Sounds cool to me.

Accu-Feel A2A P-51D is a standard that can't be beat.IMHO. Still looking forward to DCS-P-51D. Would like to see which has more detail. Combat really means nothing to me, just want to fly as close to RL as sims. will allow. So DCS carry on, looking forward to release version.:)

Well how about 2 pilots that fly the P-51D plus one of their staff plus a P-51D on site for tests. All military information(Freedom of Information Act) for aircraft of the era. The list goes on. This company has been doing models of this type, WWII for years, don't you think they have a better chance of doing a better model. I do. This company is the Premium Company for aircraft of this type and they never earned this distinction from forums. This is ED's first time out, let's see how they do. I would expect a good product but there has to be something said for experience and in this area ED is just starting out. I wish them well and hope the product is as good as, so time will tell. I say again I wish ED well in this area of modeling and hope to see them expand in this area. I also hope that 3rd party Companies not forum modders help in the graphics, terrain and other important areas of the simulation. Ya got to walk before you can run.:)

I do fly a P-51D as well as a spitfire and P-47 and as I said I wish DCS Good Luck with their P-51D model. This is their first attempt at such a model and I wish them all the Best. The other Company has been doing this for years with access to a lot of information. I am not putting ED down just don't expect them to be spot on first time out of gate with this type of model. I am sure it will be their best and will appeal to a lot of people in this Community. It's not fair to ED to compare a company with years of experience, knowledge, information etc. for their first time out. Sure I expect it to be good as are ED's other DCS aircraft and I hope they surprise me with the P-51D, if it is as good or better to what I fly now, I may even purchase it providing price is right which I will assume it will as know they are entering a Simulation area with competition. Good Luck ED. Looking forward to seeing the P-51D and maybe a P-47. Sorry first post didn't explain my point better. Hope this helps.

ED will never produce anything that can keep up with A2A. They have been doing this for a lot of years and their aircraft are awesome. I don't even think the DCS P-51D will out class A2A when it is released. I don't think they will look at doing anything for DCS as EtherealIN has pointed out. I hope everything gets ironed out in the DCS version, looks very nice, but still don't understand the point of it. That's just me. Good Luck with the P-51.

re News, 3rd party Hi: I don't think this is the type of 3rd party add ons that for one, I had in mind. What I was thinking was Companies with employes that this is there business to do 3rd party add ons such as scenery, aircraft, terrain, weather etc. just as they do for FSX or others. Paying a community modder for modding a skin whatever does not seem to me the right thing to do. Not to take away their Hard Efforts to do such things but I think that is stretching 3rd party too far. This is my opinion only and I don't mean to take away the hard work our modders do.
-
Would ED/TFC be interested in 3rd party input? Sure would free up resources. i know it is not just that simple but the plan is sound, re- FSX/x-Plane. Those Companies are out there now doing work for other Flight Sims.. What would happen if DCS or even FC3 were aloud in the mix of Current Flight Sims.? This is just a question, I have no idea if this would be possible or realistic for ED/TFC. I just know it does work, if done right. Too be perfectly clear, not referring to Community Mods but actual Companies who's lively hood rest on producing either new aircraft, scenery, terrain, weather, etc, etc.
-
I would be surprised if we see FC3 let alone worrying if it will be kept for the DCS modules to come. I am sorry to say that I have no Trust in anything ED/TFC have to say at the moment. They are not very open to keeping customers abreast of their Path in regards to New Products. I know things can change but if they do then follow up with a News Update. How hard is this?
-
Nope, nor any other till ED makes up it's mind which way to go. Early or Modern. From everthing we hear they do not have many resources so it will take a long time to see results of these Projects and for myself only by the way, waiting is a waste of my time. Don't have much left to wait years to see something. If this should change then I may be back again.:dunno: I gave this some thought and if ED/TFC produced say a Combat sim. similar to FSX and allowed 3rd party Companies to add all the high detail things such as better scenery, aircraft, etc. and the Base ED/TFC sold for around $50-$70 dollars, then I would buy into the new concept. ED/TFC makes money on the Base product and we can pick and choose to what higher level we wish to take it. Basically the same as FSX. I personally think that this could be a win for all flight simmers as you can have exactly what you want and pay for this over a period of time, not putting too much strain on the old budget. I am now into FSX and I just buy what pertains to me an where I want to fly, I don't have to get 3rd party addons for places I don't go and I don't get aircraft I don't fly. I also get Wx, and graphics for my area of flying and this seems to work well. Yes by the time I am through I will spend near $190 to get what I want but I get what I want in great detail at a pace that meets my budget. Just my thoughts.

here is the latesst info on the Replica as sent to me from one of the Museum staff. Hi Pete , Replica is being taken apart. The museum was evicted from the park. We have to be out by March 31. Visit our website. Thanks This will give you some perspective of the size.
-
Have to agree with Aaron. The AVRO ARROW is no way near similar to the Dart. It is even almost twice(almost) it's size as well. Probably one of the reasons the ARROW was cancelled as well. U.S. wanted to sell this aircraft badly and the Arrow was too much for it. U.S. sells aircraft not Canada this young upspring dare out do us,Politically thinking. Plus the useless Bomarc.
-
god knows what will happen. There are a couple of people here that say they are going to build 2/3 flying Replicas. Would be nice to see. That would be piloted not radio controlled. I do believe the Museum has everything stored in a warehouse, somewhere. I am still looking for info.
-
No not safe, had to be taken apart and boxed for storage, same as the rest of the RL aircraft the museum had. This is a sad story that we can't protect our heritage. Update: As of Jan16/2012 it is being taken apart and where it will go, no one at that time new. This is the latest I can find on the ARROW Replica.

CF-105 25206 try and catch, F-22 not going to do it.:D
-
Beartail: Thank you for putting that together. Very nice. There still is mystery around the ARROW, Someone or Organization lets say, don't even want the Replica as a Visual to what could have been . No.25206 was ready to fly with the Iriqouis engine, the one it was supposed to have been built for. Much more powerful than the 5 that flew with J4. That said, somewhere in the archieves, I have seen the numbers 2.3 Mach at 60,000+ feet. I will look into some of this. I have a real interest in this aircraft and that Canadians and the Aviation World itself not loose what this aircraft represented. It was a landmark in Aviation History that should never be forgotten. Would love to have a copy of your clip if that is possible. Cheers.
-
I think if you look into the aircraft that came after the Avro Arrow, that a lot of aircraft carry similar features. Not all in one package but like wing style, landing gear style etc. I believe came from the Engineers of the Avro Arrow. One of the most important features was the fly by wire for aircraft with Mach. capability. There was so much taken Engineering wise, it is hard to fathom. The U.S. at that time did a real job on Canada and I think there was one other, that they dropped the useless Bomark Missle on at that time. Yes it certainly killed Canada from any further participation in the Aviation World. I think the AVRO ARROW held at least 30 new and proven features that put it at least 25 - 30 years ahead of its time and only god knows how far it could have gone. We will never know is the sad part.:(

Also a couple just quit everything(retired) and 2 went to British Airways.
-
Now they went after the Canadian Civil Aircraft Museum, a corner stone in our aviation history to make ice rinks. Home to some Aviation firsts including the Full SCALE CF-105 Replica used in the movie. Now the Replica is nothing but scrap along with 6 other first for Canada and the Aviation World as a whole. Frigin Politics, Toronto has a couple of Hockey Rinks just a good stones throw away from the museum but the owner saw dollar signs when Toronto wanted the land for 4 ice rinks. There is a petition some where but all had to be cut down and crated because they were given a 24 hour removal time. Nice what:mad:
-
These are some pics of an aircraft that flew but Politics destroyed. An aircraft that even today seems to still be steeped in mystery as even a replica can not stand the strength of Politics. Well at least we can not forget.

When will they ever learn. I think there is a song in there somewhere.:D Nothing changes. -
Gee, never thought of that, darn good idea. I think I will look into it.
