  1. Upgraded to the latest version of dcs stable last week and the RWR just shows green blobs on my touch screen all the other displays and instruments are fine. Main screen is fine also including the RWR. Using latest version of helios with Capt Zeen F18 profile. J
  2. I know there are a bunch of variables here. Does anyone here have a rough estimate on data usage ? I live out in the stick and my internet has a data/speed cap Plus my wife still works from home with her job. For instance a 4 on 4 at 1 hour of flying. Thanks for any input J
  3. Was able to get a msi armour rx570 8gb off of ebay last week. Seller had used it some for mining and it was giving him troubles. I had trouble getting it to load windows but it finally did. Ran the Kombuster stress test and it shot right up to 90c I pulled it and replaced all the them pads and paste reinstalled it same thing. Even with the fans at max rpm it would not cool. Pulled it apart again and seen I needed to add more paste. this time it started to cool down/control the temp but it was still getting a corrupted screen and dropping out. Decided to reflash the bios and ran another program that verifies the bios signature or something like that. Now it was stable in windows and falcon bms but dsc would lock up and look like static on a tv. Seen a youtube vid on amd drivers and one kid said to select standard when you do a install. Unistalled the drivers with DDU reinstalled and select standard and everything is work as it should now. Big difference in fps and image upgrading form a rx550 4 gb. Running in the mid 70's fps 2.7 stable with everything on high except for mssa off and the last 2 options on the lower left corner off cant remember what they are. 1080p old dell t3600 xeon 1650 3.2g/32g ram /ssd drives and using a LG 43inch 4k flatscreen tv. This is with single player missions Everyone take care Justin
  4. I also put all of the settings to low or off plus the lowest resolution. F16 free flight 23-24 fps.
  5. Im running an older rig xeon 1650 3.2 ,32gb ram ,rx550 4gb two different ssd drives ,win 10 pro 64bit latest update. C drive has windows and D drive DCS. I got a fps drop after updating to 2.7 stable, enough that I won't invest in any more mods all that I have right now is super carrier. I downloaded the free trial of the f16 in freeflight I'm barely holding 30 fps thats at 1600x1200 . All setting low or med no mssa, AF at 2 shadows flat . I have a A4 refuel mission just me and a kc130 2.5 vers I would get 65fps with 1080p with 2.7 35 fps at best. I've read a lot of posts here and tried some stuff. deleted saved game files let it build a new one, moved the page file to the dcs drive increased the size 16gb /32. Standard dcs repair, slow repair. Hope they do something to get it back up to speed for us on slower rigs. J
  6. Thanks for the info guys. Been flying the SU 25 training missions the last few days having a blast. J
  7. I hope I ask this right. When purchasing and installing mods can they be downloaded to a computer that does not have DCS installed and then transfered to the one that does. For large downloads I go to town with my laptop and use the wifi at the library so I don't hit my data cap at home. Thanks Justin
  8. I'm on a us cellular wireless internet I live out in the sticks. What I would like to do is go to a free wifi spot in town download DCS setup to a laptop and transfer this to my gaming computer later on. Didn't know if this would work or not for the initial setup. I'm limited to 150gig highspeed with my cellular service. We use it for tv with amazon fire plus my wife works from home for her employer and I dont want to hit our cap on data. She does a lot of video conferencing (zoom) Hope this makes sense. J
  9. 10 4 not buying any ram until get the system so I can pop it open and see. From the spec sheet I found online from Dell ecc ddr3 1333mhz. J
  10. This is what I have purchased so far this will be for single player only with track IR. I scrounged this off ebay Comp Refurb Dell workstation t3600,xeon 1650 3.2g proc, 16g ram that I will bump up to 32 or 64g, 1 TB sata drive with win10 pro 64, 635watt power supply, dvdr drive GPU replacing the gt440 with a MSI rx 550 4 gig OC Things to get SSD drive more ram and monitor. Already have the hotas and rudders and homebuilt track Ir. I know this is older stuff but I'm only in around 400 bucks but it way ahead of my falcon4 system I built 2002. I used to fly falcon4 online and even if I have to back off some of the settings in dcs and it still looks like falcon 4 terrain I'll be happy. I believe on my old falcon system I stayed around 50-60fps. Will be getting F14 mod.I was an AE2 in VF31 was eng run qualified, be curious if I can remember the start sequence. When I did my first certification run both engines hiccuped and blowed fire out the tail pipe with a nice loud boom. The wonderfull TF30
  11. Hello everyone going to take the plunge and build a new computer system to fly DCS this spring. Used to be a member of the 388th VFS Falcon 4.0 Hangtime was are CO, flew quite a bit with them years ago. I'm going to assume that I wont be able to fly multiplayer being that I'm on a US cellular wireless internet service because I now live out in the sticks. I have the saitek hotas cant remember if its the x45 or52 plus rudder pedals also homemade track ir. I used to build my own gaming systems but I'm out of the loop anymore I don't need the latest and greatest. Any mid price range recommendations for components. As for my background. Joined the Navy in 1985 aircraft electrician AE2 on F14 A with VF31 Tomcatters flying off the USS Forrestal. When I left the Navy I was able to join our ANG unit and got on full time as a electrician on F16C Block 30 big mouth GE110. Eventually retired as a E8 Justin
