True. But I would argue destroyer, cruiser and aircraft carrier would be more important than battleships. And I don't know about you guys but I find current close range AA very accurate and effective. As it currently is I somewhat doubt I would have much fun attacking e.g. Baltimore class cruiser... I once setup 4 active Type VII in a port to attack with a group of Mosquitos with what the game calls average skill level. I very soon regretted that as 4 Type 7 right next to one anther have fierce AA protection. Imagine a Battleship like Yamato where you looking down on 188 AA guns... If they bring in more heavily armed units I would like to see more control over the skill level of AA guns.
  2. Okay I see. Yes I run stable.
  3. Sorry to bring this up again but I can't find anything there. There two coop missions (6 and 9) and mission 4 got a b version but they are all A-8 missions. Is not yet released or am I missing something?
  4. I think its more about not being able to see them rather than actually use them. I find pilot models distracting and usually they are not that good looking either. But I have to say this one looks good... I still will switch it off though
  5. Interesting. Consider me enlightened.
  6. Your first test looks already pretty good. One thing I notice on the pic with the vertical stabilizer (nr. 5) There is a row of 6 big screw heads in front of the horizontal stabilizer. The slits of these screws are individually positioned in different directions. This is a nice detail however I would like to mention that this would only be correct if those fastners are indeed regular screws. If those fastner however are a type of Dzus fastner (or camloc fastner, turnlock fastner, quick-action fastner etc. there are many different ones) the slits would look more or less in the same direction as the locking direction of the fastner is predetermined by the receptacle position. Given enough space the receptacle would be installed in the same orientation within a row. So unless someone messed up the receptacle installation this would probably not be possible or considerably more subtile in its effect. But then again I never stood in front of a real FW190D9 and do not know if those are Dzus style fastner. It's just something I noticed. Also you are going to do the cockpit? That is amazing. Could we finally get a proper RLM66 cockpit ?
  7. Korean Peninsula Size seems about perfect for a DCS Map. Map would be about 1000km x 500km. The detailed land area would be about 220 000km². That seems in line with Syria or the Persian Gulf map. I would include the JASDF Ashiya Air Base in Fukuoka Japan and then to the norther tip of North Korea. Map could serve two scenario: The historical Korean War from 1950 to 1953 and a fictional present day scenario North Korea/China vs. South Korea/USA/Japan Coral Sea or Solomon Islands Rather big map of roughly 1500km x 2000km. While big in dimensions the map would consist mostly of sea the detailed land area would be rather small. I would go from somewhere around Port Moresby in New Guinea to just shy of the Island of Nendo. And in terms of height from the most northern tip of Bougainville Island to somewhere north of New Caledonia. Map would be aimed at WW2 pacific theater scenarios.
  8. I would say definitely RLM 76. I think there were several versions of it. I believe that they mostly used Lichtblau and Grünblau versions of it as described here: Luftwaffe Colours (Germany) - Emmas Planes Maybe there were some RLM75 or 66, I wouldn't know, but that was probably not really intentionally and more likely due to repairs and/or lack of material by end of the war. Anyway your work looks gorgeous.
  9. Looks really grat. In terms of the bare aluminum surfaces there was probably a noticeable differences between surfaces that got exposed by abrasion and erosion such as the walk areas on the wing and areas that simply were not primed or painted in the first place. Chances are the aluminium was dull on the areas that got abraded. Being stepped on with dirty boots etc. would have scuffed the aluminium creating a rough surface that scatters light instead of reflecting it. Furthermore painter would probably not prime or paint a polished surface as the paint would not bond very well and peel off in huge chunks rather quickly with speeds of 400 to 600kph. The painter probably has to dull the surface with a sanding pad first. Meaning that the surface bellow the paint lost any shine, if it ever had one, during the painting process. As for generally untreated areas I have no idea. The AlClad I receive today comes from the factory in a mirror finish. If I did a good job it would stay that way for some time until erosion takes a toll on it. But I have no idea if that was the case for Germany in 1944/1945... also for the Dora it was afaik mostly the lower wing surface and considering the rough airfields and poor maintenance conditions I doubt even if they got a mirror finish from the factory and preserved it during production of the aircraft that it would stay like this for any length of time.
  10. Since we get a WW2 Marianas, Corsair and Hellcat I think an A6M5 Type 0 Model 52 would be very nice to have. Other than that I think a new module should have something novel about it. Me262 A-1a : Jet engines, 4x 30mm cannons. Unrivaled fire power and speed. Spitfire Mk XIV with E-type wing and bubble canopy: Griffon engine, .50 cal and bubble canopy to make it distinctively different from the MkIX. P-38L: Medium size twin engine fighterbomber which would be historically appropriate for both theaters.
  11. I bought the Mosquito impulsively after having watched The Shadow in my Eye. And there is one thing that irritates me to no end: Safety covers and locks e.g. on the landing gear lever, flaps lever and arm switch etc. I would assume most virtual pilots do not have a setup where they can adequately bind those. Fumbling around with the mouse in the virtual cockpit during critical stages of flight e.g. take off and landing to release those is kinda annoying. And remembering key binds for such really minor functions on the keyboard is also annoying. I get that the real one operated like that and I'm not suggesting to outright ignore stuff like this in the future. However I would suggest to have a option in the aircraft's special option menu to basically put them in an auto mode or off mode. Similar to how ED has an option to enable or disables gates for afterburners. E.g. in auto/off mode if the gear down button is pressed the safety lock is operated automatically and gear selector lever is moved down directly. No need to worry about the safety lock anymore. This is btw. not just the Mosquito the P-47 has a safety cover for the Camera, Gun & Camera switch. This is one of those switches as well as it can not be operated with the cover in place. It is just that the Mosquito is the worst offender as it has several of those and also linked to actually important controls.
  12. Cool that it is going to be a template as well. I'm sure you already had a look at the D9 and D13 survivors, the list is sadly very short after all. Anyway those wheel wells seem to have primer applied. But who is to say if that was restoration/preservation work? Concerning your skin pack I have no strong feels one way or the other. A generic approach is totally fine with me.
  13. Really neat project you have going on there. The rivet counting job was mindbogglingly to look at. I like the looks of the Dora but I have to confess I'm rubbish with it but more eye candy is always appreciated. Anyway you plan on releasing this as a template or just your series of JG.26 skins?
  14. JFI: Solved the issue by cutting a washer (32mm outer dia, 16mm inner hole) from a 1mm thick PTE material and placed it where according to the manual the washer goes that supposedly is no longer necessary. Now the nut tightens and the lock screw is at exactly the 6 o'clock position.
  15. Today I got my WinWing Orion set and I'm having some trouble with the F-16EX grip and the Orion joystick base. The PDF of the homepage says to up screw the nut and align the inspection hole with the aft flat surface of the grip and then secure it with a screw. That seem clear but I just can't align the inspection hole with the flat surface when I tighten the screw nut properly. The inspection hole is always around the 1 to 2 o'clock position and there is still thread visible. I tried it like 30 times now and it won't change. The nut only bites the thread of the grip when the inspection hole is at the 9 o'clock position and it tightens up when the inspection hole is around 1 to 2 o'clock position. I can't get it to 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock with a tight nut. Am i supposed to leave the nut lose and simply align and secure it? That can't be right can it? - It would then only rest on that tiny lock screw... Am I doing something wrong here or is there a problem with the threads of the latest batch? I don't get it...
  16. Hhmm no nothing there. Maybe its the problem that I purchased it before I had forum account? Or maybe I first need to install and activate it? (still downloading) Edit: Oh stop wait a second. It says I have to access thru the product page after registration. I'll try that my bad. Edit2: Worked. Sorry for that silly question.
  17. So I just bought it. How do I get access to the beta forums?
