  1. I'll try to find some docs to learn more about engine failure. http://www.kartbay.com.au/UserFiles/1369-Files/File/Piston%20Failures%20Explained.pdf http://www.britishonly.com/pdf/PistonandRing/Pistonsiezures.pdf
  2. Now just assume you were in 1950s and war was just over. USAAF pilots still need fly their mustang but no FW-190 to fight with.
  3. Me too. Oleg prefer just press I and go fly, and did't want to develope a clickable cockpit before starting the BOB:SOW. But the devs changed mind. I also wish every CloD and future aircraft is as detailed as DCS or Accusim level. But I think it's more difficult than make every LOMAC aircraft as detailed as DCS level in a year or two.
  4. IL-2 is not CloD as well. It's the one from the age of Flanker here. They all have limit including DCS, so don't laugh at them. Do unto others, do not impose on others.
  5. Add client aircrafts one by one in the ME.
  6. I can also just tap Rwin+Home to start a F-15C, and have a full AB flight from start to finish with it in LOMAC, LOFC, LOFC2 adn LOFC3.
  7. There is a note about magnetic field in P-47N manual: "Operation of the gun sight gyro affects the magnetic compass. A separate compass correction card is mounted on the instrument panel for use when the gunsight is ON(NOT FIX-my word). Be sure to use the correct card." Maybe the USAAF think the Gyro Selector Switch position is not as important as the gyro switch, so they diden't write it on the manual. If the DCS manual says right, pilots will damage their K-14 gunsight unconsciously.:D
  8. On manual page 59, the text in red box: "During landing, the Gyro Selector switch should be set to FIXED to prevent damage to the gyro." But on real P-51D an P-47N manual, it says: "Note: To avoid damage, gyro must be runing during every takeoff and landing. You turn it off only in the event of failure." There is no Gyro Selector Switch setting waring on historical manual at all. It just turn on/off the lamp, not gyro. And K-14 sight has no sun fliter glass in DCS. Is the colored glass effect difficult to build in the graphic engine? And the K-14 in DCS feels very accurate even for a snap shot. The gyro always follows the trajectory. In most case there is no need to "Track the target smoothly for one second". This part is just my personal feeling now. A further test will be taken if I have time.
  9. The death is too suddenly. A broken rod can be regard as a very heave internal load to the engine. When the jam happened, other 11 cylinders are still working and have power output. To stop the rotation need some time, maybe short, but can't be zero. Zero time = Infinity Force, and will destory the crankshaft or gear box, make the prop free from the engine... And if the cylinder stop at the top point, the boken rod will not pull it down and the crankshaft can still rotate.
  10. If Maddox care more about money, they can sell each single aircraft and make money on every time the platform upgrade. I already told that you need wait more tan 300 years to get all flyable aircrafts in IL-2 be done in DCS. Some Devs like A2A sell a P-51D and make money 3 times with it. All of this can be regarded as good attitude. DCS starts its high accu level of sims from Ka50. But still have some "mid level" sim known as LOFC3 in it, which I payed the 4th time money in these 6 aircrafts. Will you say ED cares to much about money with it?
  11. The early merlin and DB engines are also different from the engine we use on GA aircraft today. They are very powerful and can be easily destoried if without care. Just follow the historical manual, remeber to warm it before take off, keep the temp well and never make a high MP with low RPM, you can fly it well. Maybe the power is less than that historical test date, but you can find it's not just animations. For the Taxiing, you can land or take off at any plat ground in that world. So does the P-51D in DCS I think. In real world, even digging a hole in a grass filed may kill you at landing. You may try to taxi through a bomb crater and see what happens.
  12. Maybe you just turn off the complex engine management in CloD. It does have engine management, just some operations like starting are simplified. You can handle it acording to the real spitfire II manual during the flight. When cross the cloud, you can feel the carb icing. And every failed part will be listed if the engine goes wrong. 2 of 3 propeller blades can be cut in a crash landing. You will also kill it if oprate the 109E's DB engine as the way of merlin engine. Every type is different. P-51D's engine is a little bit different from that of Cessna 182. You needn't care about the EGT for the auto mixture.
  13. You may try different IL-2 from 1.0 to 4.08 and feel the change of its FM. It may be simple compare to new sims today or in the future, but you can find the difference of stall between 109 and P39. Some friends of mine refuse to try the DCS: P-51D for the bad impression of the poor FM and DM of Flanker and Lock On, and no FW-190 in DCS world.
  14. Need more freedom of date selection in the ME. Now we have only 401 days.
  15. Finally I got the aircraft moving on the ground by the recoil. Release the brake, lock the tail, remove all of the fuel, set unlimited ammo and firing. If ammo is limited, the dv is not enough and the aircraft can only move less than one foot. The recoil is also useful in swimming.:D fire1.trk
  16. Neither should the cams in dcs I think:D
  17. wrong number:( 740 ibf @ 9200lb for 20.25s, the dv should be...15.96 m/s=35.71 mph. And 530.2ft, not 6.6ft. Have you forgot the 9.8?
  18. I get the number about it, the recoil force should about 3000N if keeping fire. Compared to this, if a p-51d is cruising with max cruise power of 790 HP at 280 mph, the thrust is about 4,706 N.
  19. Or you may calculate the dv of first shot of all six guns and the speed recovery before next 6 bullets are fired...:D What we care about is the sim's effect.
  20. I found an interesting web, calculating the recoil of the P-51. http://www.thermospokenhere.com/wp/05_tsh/E232___P_51/P_51.html I feel the recoil in the sim is a bit small. When firing for a long time on the ground with out brake, the aircraft doesn't move. Failed 3 guns on one side wing and fire in the flight, I feel very little skid in yaw. Even with long burst firing, this skid will not affect the aiming. Wish devs can show some historical date of test or report on that if you have.
  21. At least the CloD have a better water effect and bomb effect.
  22. Now i got a more clear and colored pdf: http://users.tvcablenet.be/personal/tvcn102200/F-51D%20Mustang%20Flight%20Manual.pdf
  23. Not used them. In my thought, the WEP will kill my engine sooner and the flaps will kill the energy. The AI looks like never overheat its engine and leak minimal energy during the fight. The difficulty of AI may affect the combat ability of them from the v1.2.1. The excellent AI is still deadly as the beta one. I took about 20 minutes to shot it down.
  24. The AI in the beta was amazing, both deadly maneuver and deadly aiming. Now it is much easy to fight with. Post a 1.2.1 fight ACMI. The distance of begining is important. In the dogfight quick mission, the AI will take their six at first while many guys don't notice anything. Youtube is blocked by the govenment here. So I can't watch or upload video on that. Hope you can watch the first person view video on this site: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNDY1NDUyMDQw.html Tacview-20121023-070740.txt.rar
  25. OK. In real life we must have a very heavy stick force to pull a high G, and our body will alert us before the aircraft reaching the G limit. In the sim, we have no feeling of G load directly, and the max stick force is no difference to that when on the ground (Except some FFB sticks, but I'm using X-65F).So we should notice the G from the gauge, sound, shaking and exprience. Another thing in the test was found. Dropping bombs in a inverted straight level flight, bombs will pass through the wings.
