  1. Thanks for posting, very interesting vid. The sound of that DB is gorgeous. What great guys that restored it!
  2. Just as a side note - I was playing around with a 8 v 8 SP mission and decided to move it up to 30K ft and check out the contrails and thin air manoeuvring etc. Lowered the temp to -4c in the hope it would expend the vapour trail altitudes... and made the merge above a 10K ft section of the mountain range, for extra fun:) Anyway, a couple of observations (you've probably all seen already) - Compressibility is done very nicely - point the nose at the deck up there and it stays pointing at the deck :) Even the AI go in like lawn darts occasionally. You can get out of it, but it's a bit tricky if you're not expecting it (especially over mountains :) ) & Wing tip vortices are 'now added' to the FW! I only get the time to fly about once a week - when was this added, did I miss something? They're done really nicely across the board in DCSW, but good to see them on the Dora! Really nice job ED!
  3. Hi Bucic, I'm not a big fan of kitsch design either - Some Harleys are nice, but... I'm with you. As you'll know I'm sure, the Supermarine Spitfire was developed from a 'stable' where initially, air speed record breaking was their only goal - and then further basic design development for the needs of the time. I think it's safe to say - the Spit's shape is purely a product of function, alone. However, you are more than welcome to not like it :) I don't agree but, I will defend you're right not to like it... etc.. It just surprised me to here someone describe it as ugly that's all. Anyway someone should post a screen-shot before this gets moved to chit chat - I would but not on main machine. EDIT: + screen shot, chased back to base, landing alongside the runway, minus one horizontal stab, no gear, no flaps and plenty of ventilation holes ( blew the canopy before touching down) :)
  4. Hopefully the 1200 that were sent to Russia from the UK during WWII didn't upset you too much :) But seriously.. Really...? ugly? Yeah the elliptical wing is / was the main aesthetic - but she still has nice curving lines over the fuselage as well - But it's you're opinion, and that's fine. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. S :) EDIT - I also have never heard anyone (ever) describe the Spit as ugly before? ...is the only reason for posting - but as said above, it's all subjective.
  5. Nice flying!! I haven't tried the 'pure cross wind challenge' to carrier landings of a tail draggers, in DCS before, but played with carrier landings in the Stang: trying to land it on the angled deck rather than 'just any old how' was challenging enough for me - So really nice job! Short final is a devil :)
  6. I encountered this a second time a few weeks ago (for the same embarrassing reason :) ) and the % of 'wing off' was much greater than the track I posted on p1 - I remember thinking 'that's up to the gear' (much like the OP, although no damage at all to 'good' wing IIRC) - I was able to catch the roll initially, but couldn't keep the nose up - I was low so (stupidly) gave it full power in one swift move... and spun in :) Right wing lost + Power on = right roll - which makes sense as that's the direction she 'squirms' under power on take off. I don't think I kept the track - but will check - If I did we can all have a go :)
  7. Excellent news indeed - will look forward to this...! Yeah the previous two series were awesome.
  8. I got this 'mode of damage' today and the wind screen damage model is definitely not visible from the pilots POV, whilst being visible from the outside. (I'm running the latest update on my beta install).
  9. I agree, it is really hard to black out in the Dora. It's one of the limiting factors dog-fighting in the Stang (for my brute-force 'style' anyway :)). I assumed it was yet to be added to this Beta build (like the wing tip vortices), until I encountered it recently for the first time. I don't know if it's correct or not, but agree it's harder to black out in the Dora. Re high speed effectiveness of the elevators - yes I've not noticed any problems pulling out of dive bombing runs at ~800 kph - although I'm more carefully now not to over-speed, after a test flight where most of the moving parts were shed at ~900 kph, resulting in the inevitable smoking hole :)
  10. http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=103830&stc=1&d=1409512638 Yes definitely something along those lines. It's listed as a 'Tail gear down lock fault' in the attached report, at T=11:10:03. Hopefully this is in the works already, to be corrected / finished.
  11. Yes I spotted this as well and posted something a while back - this was caused by battle damage IIRC. Definitely something modelled but not animated, if you asked me :)
  12. Yeah that sounds like a pretty good assessment to me! There are no flying D9's and this is a simulation by people who follow the data - that's the best we can hope for - I think we can be confident it's pretty close.
  13. Mmm... not exactly the same problem by any means but.. I got damaged in MP and RTB'd, and did a repair (tried twice for the same problem) - only the low RPM / power problem was not repaired (could only get 2500 RPM 'balls to the wall'). I didn't have any problems with restarting though, although I did it manually - not experienced that precise restart problem - it's only a few steps, try it manually and see if that changes anything?
  14. Yeah really great to see another server tailored to WWII - great job! I'm new to MP and spent 2 or 3 hours in Burning skies today, and a couple of sessions last weekend on the DOW server - really great fun!! Thanks to both Teams! For anyone like me who's been reluctant to try MP, the difference is 'night and day' (compared to SP missions - certainly when you design missions yourself anyway). Far more realistic by far. Anyway reason for posting apart from to say thanks, was just to make a couple of observations - I might have got something wrong, as I said I'm new to this - but in the 02 Senaki-Poti mission, playing as a blue FW, I managed to score a SC500 hit on the largest building indicated as a target at Senaki AB - the really big hanger / workshop shown circled at the top of the photo - which burnt and did then show the destroyed LOD (at 3km alt anyway) - but the periodic mission progress reports continued to report Senaki AB 'Target 1' as 100% undamaged? And no Team score change? Blue were losing badly and I'd decided to go on the offensive... :) Also, and I really could be wrong here, my aircraft seemed to trigger the Blufor air raid warning when I flew into Kobuleti to re-arm (a couple of times) and once when entering the area over the ships at Poti? Maybe there were enemy entering the area at the same time but there were no signs? I spawned out of Batumi, in case that helps. A General MP thought (from a newb to MP), and not specific to Burning skies - it would be great if the the 'runway in use', at any used AB's, could be clarified in the mission brief, and be the same as ATC instructions and be in keeping with wind direction - yeah I know that's not as easy as it sounds :) Anyway keep up the great work! - see you in the sky :) PS I was on the back of a P51 (briefly) last weekend and my leg started twitching / shaking, and I couldn't do anything to stop it
