  1. Quick addition : I can also confirm that the problem does not happen with Easy Communications turned on. When this is on I can call and close the communication menu with no problem.
  2. Hello ! So I tested again this evening. I said in my previous post that the issue was happening after going to the F10 map then back to the cockpit. This is not the case. In fact, just as others said, the menu cannot be invoked as soon as you have used it once. Here is a DCS.log as requested. What I did was : Delete dcs.log to start a fresh and lean one Start DCS with the MT executable Mission Editor > Create new mission > Marianas Island, Modern Era > Drop a player controllable AV-8B plane on an runway > Save Mission > Flight mission Once in the cockpit I invoke the communication menu with the keyboard key > it shows up Close the communication menu Invoke the communication menu again : nothing happens. Tries a few times Exit to desktop Post here ! I have tested the same mission just now by replacing the AV-8B plane with a P51D (another plane I fly often). No problem with the communication menu. This tends to show that the problem is relative to the plane module you choose. Hope this helps to investigate. Thanks dcs.log
  3. Hello. I was having a similar bug after I updated to open beta 2.8.6.41066. I found myself unable to invoke the communication menu at some time in game. I found out that each time I go to the F10 map then back to the cockpit, the communication menu cannot be invoked anymore. This seems to happen only with the Harrier module.
  4. Hello, I can also confirm unlimited ammo does not totally work. By "not totally" I mean it does not work with Magic and 530 A/A missiles (missiles are reloading but I can't shoot them any more). Rocket pods, bombs and guns are working OK (I can fire those as many time as I want). Any chance you Razbam people get it fixed for the upcoming update? Thanks a lot.
  5. Thanks again. I also found that video yesterday evening just after my post here. Great source of information on the subject with interesting historical value. There is a time in that video where a veteran tries to explain the different tones he had in the headset when listening to radar sources. I also liked the "shotgun" trick they explain, faking the launch of a Shrike to force the enemy radar to shut down, without effectively firing a Shrike... Cat and mice game. Regarding the China Lake museum, seems interesting, unfortunately I'm living in Europe, so that's not the place next door to me. Anyway, I find it amazing DCS modules and their great community help getting information, historical and technical facts about those times and planes. What a challenge to recreate accurate models in a simulation!
  6. Thanks for the answer ! So you mean the way the Shrike is currently implemented in the mod, with a lock-on tone, is not realistic ? Interesting. Searching the web I found this and this which seam to describe the launch sequence of the Shrike. Unfortunately, the first image is out of focus and the text is unreadable. On the second image, top right, there is a sentence regarding "audio tone", which may indicate the pilot could hear when the seeker was detecting a signal, prior to launch. But the text is incomplete, so I'm not sure. I also noted here that it is said the guidance system was limited to certain radar sources. That makes sense of course.
  7. Hello. First of all, congratulation to the dev team and community. What a great mod ! I've been flying the A-4E exclusively since the 2.0 release and I'm starting to know and handle that bird good enough. Now I have a question, I don't know if this is a bug or not. When I have the AGM-45 Shrike armed and ready to fire and that I aim in the direction of a battleship, there is no locking tone. First, I was thinking this was wrong because the ship has its radar running, is locking me and is firing missiles at me. So I was expecting the Shrike to be able to lock the ship’s radar source. Then I tried to fire the Shrike at the ship, even with no lock tone. Guess what ? The missile tracks the ship and hits it perfectly. Boom ! Was it chance ? To better experiment, yesterday I started a mission with the unlimited ammo cheat on and 3 battleships in front of me. I managed to fire dozens of Shrike missiles to the ships and sink one of them. Each of the Shrikes I fired was tracking and seeking the ships perfectly. Although I had no locking tone while aiming at them (and yes I have the weapon properly set up and can hear the tracking tone). At the end, it looks like a bug to me : if the missile does it job why is there no locking tone in the cockpit when I point my reticle at the radar source (like when I’m running on SAM sites) ? I wonder if there could be other targets for which we cannot hear a lock tone but still can missile them down… What do you think ?
