So Should I give it a try, to run the ST Version of the DCS.exe or should i completely go back from beta? Yesterday I came back from vacation and started DCS via VD. The thing in VD is, the SSW Feature does work very good and gives me exactly what ASW gave me in the past. The Problem with VD is, I can not adjust the FOV to get more FPS so get a steady 40fps solution with good visuals.

So I tried the OXR Toolkit. The Turbo Mode gives me a couple of FPS, thats fine but it does not help with the Objects thet are doubled. In this thread, there was someone some years ago, who had the same issue and I commented it and got a solution what does not help me anymore. IT seems like there is no difference between ASW 45 forced and ASW 45

Hmm okay, so I think I did everything possible to improve the VR Settings. The problem ist, back than I was able to get a nice VR Experience when I was hitting minimum 40 FPS. With that 40 fps and activated ASW it was very clear and crisp. Now I have to reach at minimum 72 fps to match the lowest native Framerate of the Quest 2. To get this FPS I have to turn FSR to 0,5 Quality what is okay but not as close to what I got two years ago. Anything else to change? Is it possible to make some changes with open XR? I naver used it.

Hello friends, I just came back to DCS VR after a break of about 2 years. Last time I was able to run DCS with my Quest 2 and my 6900XT/5800x3D Setup well at 40 fps (ASW 45 On nonforced) and it was a nice experience. It ran smooth without any jittering at Map Objects like buildings, bridges and trees. Only I had those ghosting effect with other Tanks, Jets and ships. Now I just installed DCS used the same settings and everything is jittering when I turn on ASW. It only runs smooth if I turn down the settings so I hit the native Frame Rate and turn off ASW but even If I turn on ASW when reaching native fps its jittering. Did anything change during the last 24 months? I can see there is no Update for the Tray Tool since than so I thought maybe there is an alternative today for Quest Users or do you guys still run DCS without SteamVR with the Tray Tool doing the magic? Best regards Robin

AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
RoboHackfeld replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
I think everyone should try PBO -30. Most of the Mobos can handle this pretty good with the x3D, at least -20 should work. If someone is running with MSI, with the newest Bios you can also activate Combo Strike within the UEFI. Where Mode 1 I guess is the same as PBO -10, 2 is -20 and 3 is -30. Works with my X470 Gaming Plus MAX pretty good. Raised the Score in cinebench from 14k to 15k and temperatures fell from immideately 90°C to stable 73°C in Cinebench. In DCS I really havent noticed a big impact in VR, because I think my 6900XT is bottlenecking but with lower tmperatures I fly a little more relaxed. -
Me as an 6900XT being always unhappy with the VR Performance. Will upgrade to 4080 or 4070 in near future. Pancake with my 6900Xt is perfect. No problems, drivers are working and I can play ever game with good settings. No Problems but when it comes to VR, especially the MotionSmooting/SpaceWarp..... Reprojection does not work very good with AMD Cards. In DCS, the Buildings, Trees and everything that is part of the Map, the reprojection works pretty fine but when it comes to other vehicals, aircrafts, CarrierCrew, ships it does not work very well. Even if they are dont moving. Its pretty confusing when I place a Tank besides a building and I fly by, the Building is top notch crispy. The tank is flickering and I see three Tanks. When I think back to my 1070, I had other problems, but the Motionreprojection worked well. With the new AMD Driver I really think it got a little bit better but it is still not good in DCS to use Motion Reprojection with an AMD Card. looking forward to get a 40xx.

I also use the Quest 2 and also noticed, that Aircrafts with Lights on, are very bright big dots in the air and you can spot them easy from far away. Always thought this is a bug in general and is not related to the VR Headset.

AMD 6900xt tuning and settings for VR in dcs. My optimal recipe.
RoboHackfeld replied to TED's topic in Virtual Reality
Well I just found this thread here and I just need a summary of what you guys found out because I am fighting with settings for almost 2 Years. I run a 6900XT and a 5800X3D in my Case with an Oculus Q2 and everytime I start DCS I think about, how to get a smoother experience. What frustrates me the most is the motion Smoothing from Oculus like ASW. It works pretty fine and everything (Enviroment, Buildings, Trees....) will get very smooth except other Planes, the Carrier Crew, Vehicles etc etc. when passing by. So when I read in this thread I conclude that this is an AMD related Problem. Would I use a 3090 for example I would get a smooth experience at all with ASW tuned on? Is this correct? If I could run the game with ASW on I could safe so much FPS and I would be able to crank up my settings and DCS would finally look beautifull. Edit: If I remember the time befor I got the AMD Card the motion smoothing with my old 1070 worked much better. Could really be possible... But back than I had other problems with this old grumpy card. -
Jau genau das meinte ich.

Thank you, But for OpenXR I dont have to install something, it comes with the Oculus right? I Only need to install the Toolkit and NechSafer?

Does this work for Oculus Quest 2 via Oculus Link? Cannot find anything. I dont use SteamVR

You have to match the frequenz of you Headset with your FPS. If you have 90 hz you need to get at least 90fps without Motion Smoothing so the Opjects wont get doubled.. (Ghosting)

I figured our, it works immediately with the 800x600 Res, when you rightclick on your profile -> Launch Game. That it immediately changes the Resolution but with my System I could not notice any performance gain. What kind of Systems do you guys use? I have a 5800x3D, 32Gig of Ram and a AMD 6900XT. Game runs on an M.2 SSd.

Oculus Quest 2 DCS via OpenXR or OTT what do you guys use?
RoboHackfeld replied to RoboHackfeld's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for your answere. I guess Debug Tool and Oculus Tray Tool are the same with the Tray Tool having more options. For example, if you change the Super Sampling or Resolution width within the Tray Tool and startup the Debugtool you can see it matches the settings of the Tray Tool. -
I came back from a quiet long break of flying DCS. So I set all up. Installed DCs, Oculus Link, made all teh Settings within DCS and Oculus Tray Tool and everything works quiet okay. So I think everyone knows about this, your performance in VR could always be better. So I was looking around the internet and found out that there is something new I've never discovered. OpenXR/OpenXR ToolKit. So since I found out that DCS via Oculus Link and Traytool does run much much better than via SteamVR I was wondering how it is with the OpenXR Tool or are most of the Oculus VR Guys still use the OTT? Very curious. thanks, Robin

Thanks for exploring. I will try that asap. Very curious. But one take about the ASW Modi. The Number of the ASW Mode is related to the Refreshrate 90hz. So if you have 80hz and ASW 45 (which is half of 90hz) you get ASW at 40FPS which is half of 80hz. ASW30 at 72hz is 24fps while ASW 45 at 72hz is 36Hz and so on. What I discovered is that ASW makes it very smooth because it gets you like fake 72/80/90/120 hz. which is a very nice feature and it works very fine in the air but only ASW 45 forced (CTRL + Num3) does get you a very smooth adventure while flying low level and looking to the right/left. If you use ASW 30 or 45 (non forced) (CTRl + Num2 for 45) Buildings and Trees will be like doubled if you look at them while passing by. Only the forced mode (CTRL + Num3) does reproduce the visuals correctly in the fake immages rendered in between the real immages. Unfortunately the forced mode will give you some wiggly waggly lines within the cockpit but I got used to it.
