  1. With Quest 2 I was only able to find a good solution if I run the steam version without Steam VR. Reshade is really good stuff but with Steam VR, as another software between Oculus, the tools and DCS I never found as good settings as I found without it and I'm now at a point where I can truly say, I dont need Reshade anymore. I have a natural crispy look ingame, can spot other planes from about 25 miles and a bit more. Reshade makes everything look a bit more crispy but unnatural. For lower end PCs this is a good way to get a nice shap look.
  2. I found some good settings, wrote them down in this thread. So maybe you can adopt a couple of them to your system. Found out that its very important to have the resolution ins Oculus Link at Max + the resolution in Tray-/Debug-Tool.
  3. The same here. I see really almost no difference and it does not really drop the fps so I just turned on. Can check that maybe again. Shader I dont use because its not possible if you start DCS via Oculus Link.
  4. Well it's Milestone Time. Yesterday I got as close to the result I was looking for. After I tried Virtual Desktop I was a litte disappointed. The look was, no matter the settings, always like "muddy". SSW does work very well and FB should really work on that becaus its by far the best SW technique I've seen so far. After that I tried DCS Steam Edition directly via Oculus Link without SteamVR. After another evening of settings and restarting the game several times I got a result, I would say, I've never ever seen DCS this crispy, nice and hey, DCS does have straight lines! Settings: Oculus Link: 80Hz/90Hz Slider all to the right (around 5200*2100) Oculus Tray Tool Super Sampling: 1.3 FOV: 0,8/0,8 (Dont see a real difference to 1/1 and its a huge improevment in FPS) ASW: 45 (Off for real FPS Check) Resolution: 3646 (max in drop down) Bitrate: 500 Destortion Curve: Low With the Debug Tool I always checked if the changes were made. DCS: Details: High Terain Details: High Water: Medium Range: High Shadows: Medium MSAA x4 Trafic OFF Trees: Full Tree Details: low Szenery Details: 0.7 Prerender: 10k AF: x16 PD: 1.3 like Tray Tool (which is now loke 1.3*1.3=1.65=169 %) And wow. I now get 45-60 FPS and have an optic I've never had before. I was completely stucked with SteamVR and always thought, this is the way to go. I think if I got an optic with steamVR what was very close to what I have now I had like 28-36 FPS. So huuuge improvement if you dont use SteamVR. Without saying SteamVR is shit but the combination DCS, SteamVR, Oculus and maybe AMD Cards does not work proplery for me. So I hope this will help other people, messing around with DCS Optic, Oculus and AMD
  5. Thanks, I really have to try that.
  6. What Version are you playing? Steam DCS through Link -> SteamVR -> DCS Steam DCS through Link -> DCS DCS Standalone through Link
  7. I think I need to open an own topic so maybe more people with similar hardware and problems can find it. So I just found a solution for a stuttering/double effect problem when flying low and looking to the ground. This one runs "fine" now. ASW to 45 (non forced) was the key but those artifacts (I would despcripe it as wigglywobbly) are horrible. I think if they implement ASW 2.0 in DCS one day we'll get rid of that. Or is there already a special Oculus Link Version or maybe Tray Tool Version (my current version is 0.87.0.4) where those Artifacts get better? In the F18 its not a big deal but in the F14 the artifact/wobble effect is really bad... Coming to the main point.... I still think there is a performance issue related to some settings. Benchmark for my 6900xt in 3d Mark (TimeSpy) says 20.487pts GPU Score which I think is really good. I mean is anyone here flying with Oculus Quest 2 and 6900xt/6800xt? I would really like to compare what are the experiences from other people because I expect much more quality from this card. Specs beside the 6900xt: My CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600 and I have 32GB of 3200Mhz Ram. DCS Installed to a Samsung evo 970 M.2 SSD All supplied by a 850W bequiet Straight Power 11 PSU and a MSI x470 Gaming Plus Max with newest Bios and SAM activated. I run DCS via Oculus Link (cable) -> SteamVR -> DCS Mods: Reshade; ShaderMod; FSR (res. 0.77 ultra quality; sharpness 0.7) Settings: Oculus Link: 90Hz; Slider to 0.9 (SS) Oculus Tray Tool: PD: 0 ASW: 45hz (non forced) if I go to low level flight otherwise OFF Resolution: 3686 Bitrate: 500bit Destortion curve: Low SteamVR: Resolution per Eye (DCS): 3100*3100 DCS: Details: High Terain Details: High Shadows: Medium Visible Range: High Water: Medium Trafic: OFF MSAA: x4 SSA and Stuff: OFF Heat Blur: OFF Motion Blur: OFF Lense Effect: Off Prerendered Range: 10.000 Smoke: 0.7 Trees: Full Details Trees: 0.1 AF: x8 Rain Droplets: On VSynch: OFF PD: 1.0 With all that settings and mods I get a decent 45-50 FPS Experience in F-18 Freeflight/singleplayer but it does not really look good and I think with this hardware there should be more possible. I have to say, if I disable MSAA the quality is really bad. I know this one is a huge "FPS Dropper" but I dont really understand how people can run DCS without it. The lines are jaggy as hell. Maybe there is some settings that do similar thing and are not that hungry I dont know yet. Didnt change a lot in the AMD Drivers so far, just the minimum Clock from 500 to 2000MHz. Maybe here is someone who made some experiences with the Adrenalin Software and several settings. Every slider I turned ON like Sharpness, Ensynch, Chill didnt seem to take any effect. Question to the FSR Mod: Before I installed the FSR Mod I ran DCS in Steam VR with 2800*2800/eye with MSAA x2. It looked so much better but the performance was worse. (36-45fps) So what is the FSR Mod doing? If I understand that right you get, in my case, 0.77 resolution what in my opinion is nothing else than 77% of my current resolution. So why not just reduce the resolution? I think there is something I dont understand yet. Small maths excourse: With my current settings and with my understanding I get like, 3100*3100 * 0.77 = 7.399.700, pixels per eye. (Supersamling SteamVR) Why using a mod and not set the resolution manually, in this case: 2720*2720 = 7.398.400 pixels per eye. (Supersamling SteamVR) Does the mod do something more? People always tell me, use it it gets you more fps, but I don't get it why it should without loosing any quality. I think I have to ran some more tests with that but maybe someone can explaine. General question and maybe discussion topic for other people with similar hardware: The main thing is, how do I get the best experience, like stable 55fps (to be sure its always over 45) with good optic and in the best case without anny wigglywobbly ASW Effect. I know this question is old and it will never happen but it should get any better. What AMD Settings where successfull? Is SteamVR the Issue or in general the Steam version of DCS? What experiences you guys made with the combination Oculus, AMD, DCS, SteamVR? Sorry, I know this is alot but I hope we will find a solution and that it not only helps me. Be free to share experiences for everyone out there. Robo
  8. The thing is... if I watch any 4K DCS Stream or youtube video I want to have that in my VR Headset. The 4K ultra DCS looks so f"cking amazing. But nothing beats the feeling if u sit in the cockpit and start from a carrier. Love that...
  9. Thanks for those words. Yeah its a mess with all those adjusting thing. Since I started with DCS in VR its always like... "I can get a better result, lets try this"..."and this"..."and this".... Hours later I havent played any mission, just wasted time with "optimizing"... The thing with the "once younstop looking for it" I think will be what I hope for. I am very sensible in cases like visual stuff but I think I will get used to it. I really hope Vulcan will get us a lot.of more Performance and stability with VR.
  10. So what was the result? Do I understand u right. You have both sliders like Min. FPS and Max FPS at 60? Whats the Framerate u get so far?
  11. Well I found a solution for me. Hope it helps you as well. I used the "ASW 45 forced" mode before and yesterday after nothing else helped I just tried Vsync ingame to ON and ASW to 45 (not forced). Dont know yet if its a combination of both or just the not forced ASw Mode. Will check that later but this has removed the "Double effect" almost completely as long as I get 45 FPS. The only thing is... Now I have to mess arround with some artifacts at the edges of my vision. Maybe find a solution for this as well maybe with Destortion Curvature or Bit rate. Will make some more tests lately today. Robo
  12. Could also be possible that I always used the wrong ASW mode. Because of those artifacts I always used 45hz forced. Maybe that was the gamechanger yesterday because after I turned Vsync ingame on I think I accidently used 45hz instead of forced. So I changed both settings and maybe just the other ASW mode would be enough. Will test it today.
  13. Okay after I tried everything that came to my head today and really nothing helped until I gave it a last try. I have a really smooth experience right now and all those double effect/ghosting/stuttering is gone as long as I get 45 FPS. The solution: ASW in OTT: 45hz (not forced<-important) VSync in DCS: On But with this I get a little bit of artifacts at the nose area of the right eye. Its like a little wiggly but only at the far left edge of the right eye. Now my question is, what is the difference between 45hz forced and 45hz. Why I dont get those artifacts at 45hz forced but a little of stuttering and with the other mode 18hz/30hz/45hz (not forced) I get a smoothe result but little of artifacts. Is there any setting to reduce this? Otherwise I think I can really live with that. Is there a setting to reduce the fov for one eye or meybe each? Not only the outer areas. I hope you know what I mean. Thank you all so far.
  14. I use the Reshade mod. Motion smoothing I think I can not use because Im not usin a WMR Headset. I use the Oculus or is it also available in SteamVR for Oculus? Havent seen it so far. How to monitor Frametimes in VR? Can I monitor it with fpsVR?
  15. Thanks again for your help. I will check all of that later and let you guys know. What I can tell so far is like everything was quite blurry in comparison to what I got via Steam VR. I could read some instruments but I dont think I can spot enemys like that. If I could read the Altimeter I have to check later today. But the ghosting effect was also noticable the same in DCS via Link like Steam VR. I got a lot of points I can try out, aswell the HW Info thingy and I hope this will all lead to a solution. I think it could really be a cable thing like 5gb/sec are recommended and I get something around 2gb/sec. Thanks again and in advance and I keep u updated.
  16. Thats what I experience since I got the Quest. I mean at first I got the 1070 and tried DCS via VD. Didnt look really good but I had only a 1070 and no 5ghz Router so I thought, okay that fits, it scales down due to my router and my GPU is too bad. With Link and direct DCS it was quite the same and I thought okay I just have bad gpu. With Steam and the reshade Mod it looked okay to me. Maybe what I thought about while in bed for sleeping last night, everything could also be related to my 3rd Party 3m Cable which gets me something around 2gb/sec. Another point I can try, at least I can try different cables (Mac Book and the small that came with the Oculus) unless I dont have an original one. And I have to compare Steam VR Version without Reshade with the Oculus. A lot of work to do after work today.
  17. Yes thats also what I thought about it. Otherwise it would not make any sense to me. Thanks and I will come back to this tomorrow after I made some more tests regarding the ghosting.
  18. Okay its just because someone told me if you want ASW at 45 you need to get 90fps without it to get the best result. But that doesnt make any sense to me.
  19. Okay at first thanks for the tipps. I will check everything tomorrow when I have a little more time than today. I think there was a VSync mode in the driver that can help. Will try that first. If I understand ASW correct isnt it that it doesnt matter if you get stable 50 or stable 90 as long as you get whats set in ASW? I mean if ASW is set to 45 and I get stable 52 it should work right? I think its a driver thing and I will try everything youve said. If nothing works I will try a clean installation of the system. Had an Nvidia Card before so maybe there is still something with old driver stuff. Thanks so far. Edit: Ah I can lock the FPS for a special game with the driver could this also help?. Will try that as well.
  20. Well I am able to maintain stable 45fps and with ASW forced to 45 I still have those ghosting effects. Is it a difference if I enable it through OTT or with ctrl+kp?
  21. Okay I tried to run DCS directly from Oculus Link with 80hz mode and slider all the way to the right side but this looked so blurry. U have to know I have this reshade mode, only works with DCS via Steam VR and without it it alle looks like there is a big filter over it. What do you guys, not using Steam VR, use to get this picture more sharp? The "double effect" did also appear and FPS where around 60.
  22. Anyone does have a similar solution for Oculus Quest 2? I have exact the same Double View JEFX explained but I am using the Oculus Quest 2 so I dont have those settings. Using DCS via Oculus Link -> Steam VR -> DCS Also using Oculus TrayTool.
  23. Thanks alot for this ideas. I will give it a try to run DCS only via the Oculus Link App. Before I got the AMD GPU I tried it alot but the look without the Steam SS was all the way not good. I will try this with raising the SS via the OCulus Link App. Distortion and Bit Rate I will also try to adjust like you've said. Thanks alot I will let ypou know if this works out.
  24. Just wondering if the quality/fps ratio I get is okay or if I have any issue with my gpu. Maybe you guys can tell me if that fits. System: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI X470 Gaming Plus, AMD RX6900xt Ref., 32 GB 3200Mhz RAM, 970 evo M.2. Headset: Oculus Quest 2 via Cable DCS via Oculus Link (Oculus Link -.> Steam VR -> DCS) Settings: Oculus Link: 90hz and 1.0 SS Oculus Tray Tool: Highest Resolution, 500bit, Destorion to high Steam VR: Supersampling per eye for DCS something around 2800x2800 DCS: Details: High Terain Details: high Traffic: Off Water: Medium Range: High Heat Blur: off Shadows: medium/std Display: 512 MSAA: x4 DoF: off Lens Effects: off Motion Blur: Off Clouds: medium/std SSAA: Off SSLR: Off SSAO: Off Clutter Grass: 25 Forest vis: 100% Forest Details: 0.1 Scenery Details: 0.6 Preload: 150000 ChineySmoke: 2 Gamma: 1.9 AF: 8x Object Shadows: Default Illum: Off Pixel Density: 1.0 Thats it and all I've done to the AMD Drivers was to set the minimum Clock from 500Mhz to 2000Mhz which raised my 3D Mark GPU Score from 12000pts to 19000pts. The Result in an F18 At Carrier Day: 45fps At Carrier Night (next to the Tower): 30fps Air: 45-55 fps (sometimes more) F14 is all a little bit lower. Does that fit so far? I think my bottleneck for DCS is my CPU so I think my system is doing pretty well, especialy with MSAA to 4 what in my opinion raises the immersion alot, or what do you think? An more recomendations to set up in the driver? Best regards Robo
  25. Anyone here running DCS with Quest 2 and an AMD GPU expecially 6900xt? Got my 6900xt a couple of weeks ago and yes it increased the quality alot but this should be easy against my old 1070 (nonti). But I really thought about a more better result than I get now. My specs: MSI X470 Gaming Plus Ryzen 5 3600 32 GB 3200MHz RAM Samsung M2 evo 970 AMD Rx6900xt Using my Oculus via Link Cable and DCS via Oculus Link -> Steam VR OTT-Settings: Resolution: 3696 (dont know right now but the highest available) Bitrate: 500 Distortion Curve: High PD: 1.0 ASW: Still playing with it if I like it to 45 or off Oculus Link Settings: 90Hz SS: 1.0 Steam VR Settings: Supersampling per eye: something arround 2800*2800 rest: untouched DCS Settings: Details: High Shadows: std Water: medium MSAA x4 (I hate thos stairs effect) Visibly Range: High Trees: Max Trees Details: lowest Heat Blur and Lense Stuff Off Screens to 512 PD: 1.0 I have a nice optic I guess but I get only arround 36-40 FPS (F18) at Carrier and 45-55 in the air (F14 a litte less). Lowprofile Flight ist like 45 but looking to the sides I can not really spot any ground vehicle because its everything like "doubled" . Any ideas? I think my CPU is not the best for this unoptimized Simulation but befor I replace this,I want to get the most out of what I got so far. Are there any people can share some nice AMD Driver settings? All I got so far from this thread are ppl using Nvidia Cards. What I managed to figure out so far regarding AMD Drivers was the minimum frequenzy. Min: 2000 (stock 500) Max 2500 (stock 2500) This was a first eye opener But thats my current status. Would really like to exchange some ideas with other people running same or similar system. Thanks in advance! Regards Robin
