  1. Hi all, I have only tested the MIG-29A for 2 hours (the module has only been released for like 4 hours ) so this is my first impressions! But I am VERY impressed with the MIG-29A! Why am I so impressed? Am I here to create hype? No I am impressed because this is a very very good module and let me tell you why! The PC performence is amazing. The cockpit and body of the aircraft is 3D-modeled and textured to the most modern and highest standards, and still the PC performence is super good! I run a RTX 3080 with 32 GB of ram, I always play in VR (and so I did during my first impressions testing) and FPS / Framerate was ROCK SOLID 72 FPS (and with ALL my modules in DCS my BEST FPS is 72). This means the MIG-29A has as good PC performence as older modules like the F-18 but with with higher cockpit detail then F-18, nicely done Eagle Dynamics! The flight module is very FUN. It is like a mix between the F-16 and the F-18, it is very repsonsive but not twitchy or nervous at all! The engine sounds are very good aswell. You can hear all the rpms from the turbines, from the bottom and all the way up, and the sound very powerful! The only thing I am missing is more training missions, but being a pre-release module I know they will come in time. If I can sumup my first impression in one single word it would be: FUN. This bird gets a smile on your face for sure
  2. C- 130J is even better! Thanks for the information I am a huge fan of the super hercules.
  3. Thanks for sharing an estimated realease window! I am very much looking forward to the AC-130, what I have seen on the videos you have done most outstanding work! When it is realesed on Steam it will be a day one purchase for me!
  4. Hey Pluton perhaps try using Reshade + adjusting weather are what you are looking for? I have not idea if it works with VR but perhaps worth a test? I am more focused on multiplayer performence in VR so I haven't really tested it out Spuds demonstration how simple weather adjustments make a massive impact on the Syria map (it is really worth watching the full video, trust me the difference is huge)
  5. Hello Pluton I had the same problem as you my first day. You need to sync Virtual Desktop with Virtual Desktop Streamer (they are 2 different programs). You will use your Meta Username. It sounds complicated but it is not, and takes like 10 min to set-up it all up. Watch both videos below, they explain everything for you : https://youtu.be/kfoxzgGly3E?si=ZyKoxR1wJnD5NOyA Also watch this one below: https://youtu.be/kfoxzgGly3E?si=SjWpxDIiZfxZahmT
  6. I have been watching a lof of documentaries about WW2 bomber crews lately, and got the urge to buy the FW-190 A8, so I did yesterday. The FW-190 A8 was the A-10C of WW2, armed with four 20 mm canons (!) and built like a tank. Looking forward to attack bomber formations, strafing airfields and ships
  7. The Kiowa is such an amazing airframe, one of my favourite things to do is play on Contention server and doing recon for the team. On Contention the Kiowa can report recon targets without having to return to base, that makes the Kiowa an incredible powerful information source for the team, able to spot numerous targets in one-go (if you can survive sneaking out from the FARP without being hunted down).
  8. Thanks for sharing super cool product, time for me to start saving up then!
  9. That is great news Pluton ! I am super happy for you the Quest 3 , 512 GB , is an outstanding product that you can enjoy for many years to come. Welcome to the Quest 3 owners-club ! I truly love my Quest 3S and I will never launch DCS without it.
  10. Thanks Patgun for the great explanation ! I had no clue it could sense flaps, gears, afterburners etc. Very very cool stuff for sure do you have a link to the product? I might be quite interetsted to buy it in the future!
  11. Hey Pluton I am using the Quest 3S 128 GB. The memory in the Quest is for internal storage (if you want to use the headset for gaming etc without the PC). For DCS the Quest 3 storage is not being used (since DCS use your PC hardware and storage, the client is on your PC) Hand-tracking sounds very fun, I have not tried it yet . Though that stick-shaker you have sounds even better, perfect fit for the Phantom( it loves to shake its butt when attempting to land).
  12. Hi Gorbys I am using a 5 GHz Wi-Fi at home. But I have connected from my router to my PC with a Cat-6 network cable (Ethernet). Cat-6 supports up to 10Gb/s internet traffic. So I transfer 10 Gb/s direct from my Wifi-router via cable straight into my PC. So I only use the wireless WiFi between my PC and my VR-headset. I strongly recommend you buying atleast a Cat-6 cable, it only cost like 40 dollars and made a big difference for me. The more cable you have between internet and your VR-heaset the better. But if you buy a cable to the headset it must be a high data transfer cable aswell (in my case it was not needed).
  13. Nice campaign I will check it out, thanks for the heads-up!
  14. Hello everyone! I am very curious to know what aircraft you are flying at this moment. With so many modules in DCS and more to be released, I thought it would be fun know! Feel free to post pictures I have grown a liking of JF-17. I had some technical issues with another module so I thought lets try the Jeff. And to my surprise no technical issues in this bird, good VR-performance, no buggs, modern avionics, a light nimble airframe, fun weapons (laser-guided rockets ) and top of the line SA (situational awerness) in the cockpit. And I really like the integrated missile warning system & ILS/TACAN/APPR-system. Being fond of civilian aircraft aswell, and having spent hundreds of hours in MSFS piloting PMDG 737 etc I am really looking forward to the C-130. To be able to pilot a large military transport in DCS combat environment (where things shot at you!) is something I am very much looking forward doing!
  15. That sounds like an really aswesome mission & heck a lot of fun flying !! The whole cold-war era and the tensions in the Fulda Gap is very fascinating! Im currently learning the CH-47 Fox, it is a blast flying helicopter on Contention in VR. Im having really fun dropping down Bradleys near enemy positions, then jumping in as Tactical Commander (still in VR) blasting enemy airfields with the autocanon from the IFV
  16. Hello all! Is there a way to place the camera anywhere in the world directed from the F10 Map? Example: I have combined arms. I place an artillary unit. I want to have a look at bridge with my camera before I fire. Then I want to look as the shells rain down on that location with the same camera. Can I click somewhere on the F10 Map then slave/teleport the camera to that location? Is there any other way that is better? Thanks for the help guys!
  17. Hello BIGNEWY! New VR-pilot here, I would also love if the gunner sight could be fixed in VR, that is the only thing making combined arms truly amazing. Is there any possability you could forward the community request to the development team again? Thanks for all the great work you guys are doing
  18. Cheers yes I certailny has fallen down down in the pit! But what a great pit to be in and I am never crawling back. Yes this seem to be a technology with lots of development and updates so I can see tweaks and upgrades being needed and thats totaly fine to be honest. With VR-headset flying in DCS is as it always should have been.
  19. Last update mission accomplished Cranked up the settings posted above: VR Bitrate set to 150 Mbps (still the same) Sharpening set to 30% (still the same) VR Framerate set to 90 FPS -> 120 FPS Frame Rate set to 90 FPS ->120 FPS Desktop Bitrate set to 90 Mbps -> 120 FPS DCS Settings locking frame rate: set to 90 FP ->120 FPS Also changed in VD settings to Ultra Quality. Did a playtest on 4Y4 EU Server 20 players: Spawn & taxi = 60 FPS (not a FPS drop) Take-off = 60 FPS (not a FPS drop) Air-combat menouvers with radar active = 60 FPS (no FPS dropping here either) Pretty cool that technology has come this far, poor-blokes like me can now pilot a full fidelity F-18C Hornet in multiplayer inside virtual reality world and a 3D cockpit Oh and he mentioned in the Video something about Snapdragon and changing the Codec, don't do it, atleast my machine crashed horribly! See you guys in the virtual skies - fly safe
  20. Hey Qcumber I cranked up the settings futher more. Im now running VD on Ultra and I increased all values in my post above to 120, did a test 4Y4, everything is running @ 60 FPS. I feel satisfied now, I can play multiplayer @ 60 smooth & stable, no crashes, no lagg spikes, no disconnects. Im a happy-panda now Thanks for all the help buddy! Gryphon out!
  21. Hi all, me again (LOL) The learning journey continues. Eventhough it was super cool to reach 72 FPS in multiplayer, some more testing sadly showed that my framrate could drop over cities, lots of trees etc. But then I found this video below, basically he shows how to "lock in the frame rate" for a smoother framerate. So I did some new adjustments in Virtual Desktop (VD): VR Bitrate set to 150 Mbps Sharpening set to 30% VR Framerate set to 90 FPS Frame Rate set to 90 FPS Desktop Bitrate set to 90 Mbps DCS Settings locking frame rate: set to 90 FPS Syncronos Spacewarp - Always Enabled And in VD Streamer I unchecked -> Adjust Bitrate. I did a playtest on 4YA Casacus PVE Server with 30 players on server, and my FPS was "locked in" 45 FPS . The test included a doghfight against a JF-17 and then I had to bail out (out of missiles) with a high speed run (low level between mountains). This play session was much longer then my previous test (posted above) and eventhough I did low level flight at Mach:1 over cities the framrate was 45 all the time. Next up is try to increase the values above to 100 with a new target of 50 FPS.
  22. Thanks for the advice it is much appreciated I will do a test tuning up VD to Ultra/Godlike. QP £300-400 is currently out of my budget I am afraid. I did some more adjustments after watching this video below, I set my settings in Virtual Dekstop (VD) to: VR Bitrate 150 Mbps Sharpening 30% VR Framerate 90 FPS Frame Rate 90 FPS Desktop Bitrate 90 Mbps DCS Settings locking 90 FPS Syncronos Spacewarp - Always Enabled And in VD Streamer I unchecked -> Adjust Bitrate. I did a playtest on 4YA Casacus PVE Server with 30 players on server, and my FPS was "locked in" 45 FPS stable. When I did my testing with 72 FPS post above, I noticed some framedrops (cities, trees etc), now it runs much smoother. I might try to crank all values above up to 100 to get a stable 50 FPS + set VD to Ultra/High, I do feel its moving in the right direction, very fun stuff to learn about
  23. Hello again, I am sorry I forgot to anwear your question. I tested Godlike inside of Virtual Desktop (VD) but now I am running High (RTX 3070) since I have a RTX 3080, but perhaps I should try to adjust it up again? I so pleased with the multiplayer framerate I got (the post above this one) so I dont know if I dare to change anything again
  24. Hello all! I wanted to improve my multiplayer performence on my Quest 3S and managed to get solid 72 FPS on Contention multiplayer server with 24 players logged in. My play test session had a duration of 30 min and the FPS did not drop one single time, it was rock solid. I was piloting the F-18 Hornet from Eagle Dynamics and Contention server used the Syria map. Please see my pictures below: 1. I tried to take a picture with my mobilephone inside my VR-headset (through the lenses) but I could not get a good image. So I had to take picture above my VR-headset and on my monitor (showing the VR-view in 2D). On the top left corner you can see the FPS. On the top right corner you can see Contention server messages and in center the player list. 2. The second picture is a close-up photo from my mobilephone on the FPS (Frame rate). 3. This is the settings I used inside of Virtual Desktop. I increased VR Desktop Rate and VR Bitrate on the sliders (I increased them with atleast 100%). 4. Inside the Nvidia Control Panel I chose the DCS client and then changed power settings for DCS from Energy Saving Mode to Maximal Power. 5. The last image is my graphics settings inside of DCS, in the Settings tab.
