I'm late to using open composite for DCS. Use G2 VR and my 9700K rig with a 3080ti. It's been working great with 45fps almost 100% of the time but with one anomaly: The image of planes flying by at any speed above about 100 knots, (Including my own plane fly-by using F3) are all stuttery even though the background views of terrain or on the carrier deck are butter smooth. Any suggestions on how to correct this? Thanks!

Hopefully this thread is still monitored: I can't find an answer to this question when searching on-line: I want to preserve my logbook.lua file. Last time I did a clean install of DCS, I messed-up and I forgot to copy it somewhere else and lost it! Can you use this program to "enable" the current version of this file, then later on when you select "disable" will this program copy the current, and "game edited" version of the file back to the "Configuration Mods Folder" and "overwrite" the older file version; thereby keeping the logbook.lua current and up-to-date? Thanks! (I want to use it for joystick/keyboard files as well rather than copying and pasting later. If possible.)

Thanks for the heads-up! That actually happened to me already already, then corrected itself after a couple minutes, LOL! -
OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

Late to the party here gang but glad I eventually found this and can finally now skip Steam to play this title. Thanks for the detailed procedure here. Following it to the letter helped on some issues but for the most part, this was about the same, "FPS wise" since I already optimized my machine with Thud's VR4DCS advice ages ago. What is improved: 1) No more flickering when loading screens and missions! 2) Faster start of the game and missions too. 3) Using the OpenXR Toolkit to enhance visuals to eliminate the Washed-out look in VR. Everything "Pops" now! 4) Playing with some other settings PLUS OpenXR tools can improve frames, "Marginally" if you are trying for every FPS you can get but it is not a game changer like others boast here. (Their systems were probably messed up in the first place.) 5) So far shimmering effects seem to be drastically reduced too but minimal time thus far; not all maps yet. What doesn't work: 1) NOT USING Motion reprojection! I noticed a ton of comments concerning stuttering cockpits and when close to the ground; when you look sideways down at it. Turning settings to minimums with 70+ FPS did not help. Motion reprojection was the only option that worked for me. (Anyone else find an alternate fix?) An internet search came up with nothing. Thanks! -

Unfortunately, the default gun ammo has no tracers so go to your weapon loadout screen and in the drop-down box for your Gun ammo, select the version with tracers. -

Interesting: You allow G-S to publish a video on a Mod you ahem, "Never" intend to release??? Maybe it's a "trial balloon" to see what kind of interest it might have for a full fidelity model that we pay for? One could only hope. In the meantime Grinelli and Nightstorm's great work keeps the current plane a joy to fly! -

There is a Mods directory under your saved games directory for DCS: Should be located at: C:\Users\YOURNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\Aircraft\ Assuming you have it in the normal location and did not change it or change the default drive, etc. Grinnelli's mods creates a sub-directory named "F-22A" with around 14 sub-directories below it. Like it's mentioned above this enhancement mod over-writes some Grinnelli's files, so you would move them and "Ovewrite" files as needed to the exact subdirectory listed in the enhancement mod. (Once you unzip the enhancement mod the directory structure will be clear.) Best idea is to use a small program like OvGME or similar program to add or remove mods from games on demand. Once you understand how to use it, it's a great little program to use for any game out there to add mods as needed, then quickly remove them before doing a game update which for DCS happens frequently and it becomes a pain to add-back all your mods manually, one file at a time, LOL! Ouch!!! -

Nightstorm: Thank you for your work here sir! Have you been able to make the F22 Carrier capable with a working Hook and catapult hook-up? Scanning through the many pages and not seeing this mentioned. Also their is a non-functional Hook control on the left side of the cockpit so I thought it was possible; thanks. -
Excited to see this finally released to the DCS public. Commenting to track. Looking forward to it.

Great work Nightstorm on these updates, especially the MFD improvements. Looking forward to having a real GPS map MFD someday like on other planes, F/A-18 for example. I know that it's not possible right now of-course. Big fan of the F22 myself ever since the F22 ADF days! Glad to see Grennelli do this fine work for us and your adds to it as well so we can enjoy the F22 in a modern sim. Concerning all your data and Cap's GR video on the comparison. I would not worry about it! Frankly as a former Naval Officer, public available data on current active models are at the best: estimates!!!!! Your not altering numbers enough to be considered totally unreasonable here! Besides it's a single player experience. And after watching some other GR videos by Cap covering fantasy battles this year, and other YouTube videos from other content providers using DCS; It tells me that most these guys at DCS must be from former Eastern-Bloc countries, the bias is obvious! -
The Loading flickering has been a issue with WMR for years..... Thanks Enduro14, that is what I have read too. What's funny, was many on YouTube recommend the Reverb G2 for DCS. NONE of them mention just how much of a pain in the behind it is to get it working decently and NEVER mention any of the anomalies either! It's like they are just Reverb fan-boys. I would of been fine with the Rift S for another year or more longer until some of these issues get resolved, (If ever!). If never, then pass on this product. I only use VR for specific type of missions and use 2D/Track-IR most of the time.

I've personally had shimmering on everything from clouds to buildings all the way down to the edges of people and animals. Both on the Rift S, (For 2 years) and now the Reverb G2 that I just setup for the game this week. None of this exists on my display when I play using Track-IR. It's nice and clear with graphics settings almost exactly the same as my VR ones. (Exception being I run my display at a lower rez in 2D at 2160x1440, but with ultra vs high for Vsib Range. Also tried the VR shader mod for 2.7, (previously 2.5) published on various sites and recommended by Lucas S. on YouTube including his recommended Nvidia control panel settings. For the new Reverb setup, I completely cleaned my Nvidia drivers for my 2080 using NDD, was hoping for and improved experience and did get it somewhat for reading in the cockpit and seeing distant planes; so was worth the change in my opinion. But I was just surprised the shimmering remained, plus a new problem: An annoying flickering when loading up any mission plus terrible flickering at the start-up of DCS itself! (Gained some, lost some!) I started the Reverb on a repaired DCS with no mods at first and the shimmering was there. Then added the shader 2.7 mod with same issue. MSAA 2X-4X and even tried adding SSAA to 1.5X. So far I've tried PD=1.0 in-game and in Steam VR a PD of the per-eye resolution of around 2160'ish x 2160'ish around the default rez of the Reverb itself. Also tried High and low Terrain Textures. Textures always on High. Pushing more will just drop minimum frames too low for a playable experience for my rig. (I7-9700K, OC-4.9K; 32Gig Ram @3.2K; Samsung NVME-SSD.) Before, I ran the Rift S as far as to 1.5 PD having to settle to 1.0-1.2 max for reasonable performance. Shimmering in all cases was there regardless. I'm wondering anyone with a 30 series card have any of these issues?

F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod

Nightstorm: To darken the HUD, what about a HUD Re-Shade? I know GrowlingSidewinder uses one on his F-22 HUD to darken it somewhat. A small amount of shading in the HUD area would make all the difference. Most other planes in-game have a slightly darkened area from the HUD glass. It makes all the difference for us sight challenged people. It would be great if you could add it as an option to your mods. I'm not experienced with programming and trial and error for several hours trying to figure it out myself has been futile. My original post had some details on what I attempted above. Any help would be appreciated. Finally, there are numerous posts on this subject on other plane types, most all have been addressed with a small mod, so there are other people out there like me that could benefit from this on the F-22. Thanks. -

Enjoying the Mods Nightstorm that you added to an already great mod from Grennelli. Unfortunately with my "Old Man" compromised vision, (even using a 54" screen in 2K res. with my eyes within 3 feet!) The HUD information it too washed out to read unless I zoom up enough where the HUD fills most the screen. That is the case for most HUD's in this game for me. But there are a few exceptions because there are Mods available that have done the following 3 things that all help enough for me to see decently enough. Right now my favorite is the F18 HUD. Here is what worked in the F18: 1) Raising the color intensity parameter beyond 255 and slightly changing the green to a more fluorescent type of color for my cataract eyes. (For anyone out there that is young, a cataract in an eye is like looking out a yellowed and fogged out plexi-glass! 2) Removing any reflections, specifically on the HUD glass. (I cancel all reflections in-cockpit if a mod is available like here for the F22.) 3) A sleight HUD glass Tint provides enough contrast to read most colors on the HUD for me because without it, most colors wash-out on the HUD when the background is a light colored one like a light blue sky or clouds. I searched around your files for playing with colors and could not find the one that defines the various HUD color options selectable from within the cockpit. Could you tell me which file it is? I already played with some of the parameters in the font.lua file but did not notice a change specifically to the HUD, just the other digital displays popped-out more to me. So Nightstorm, anyway to tint the HUD glass a little like in the F18? I noticed in the liveries directory there is a F22/default sub-directory with a "description.lua" file that has a command line mentioning a f22_pit_hud_glass.dds file that you might be able to activate if located in the correct directory location (under cockpit/scripts?) but unfortunately the actual .dds file does not exist that I can find. Thanks for your assist.
