I think there's a few more important things in life to worry about than that!!

Mine was fixed with the new patch! Thanks ED!

I see this at Batumi - the big river next to the base displays water lower than terrain height. It does your eyes in, especially if you just come from the sea...!

I have GeForce GTX285 and I can see weird looking shine in high shadow setting. Almost as if the specular shine is overdone - it looks like an almost wet shine on the fuselage and wings. Will get a screenshot to show what I mean.

I thought it was PICNIC Problem In Chair Not In Computer lol

I found a way to greatly increase the chances of staying on the boom for longer - I managed my first refueling today which took my fuel level from 25% to 100% it took maybe three hook ups but I was very happy when he said transfer complete!! I zoomed out my cockpit view - this helps greatly with keeping the horizon and tanker in view and somehow made me fly in a more stable way. Earlier I was trying with the view zoomed in so that the windshield and HUD filled the whole screen which made my flying very very twitchy and made connecting with the boom something which lasted only a few seconds.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

More screenshots Cleared contact. A-10C coming at'cha! Trying to get home. Misty morning. -
Just wondering for those of us who are not able to get enough time to practice formation flying will the final product include a method of air refuelling that is slightly easier to do? So far in around 8 attempts I've not been able to stay on the boom for more than 10 seconds!! Or does anyone have any tips on how to control the aircraft very slightly in roll and pitch to stay stable enough for long enough to effect a good length refuel? Does Beta 4 give the ability to go back to the tanker after a premature disconnect? Also can we refuel from more than one tanker in a mission? I tried with two tankers in the editor in B3 but while flying I was only able to hook up with one.

You can't contact the tower or ground crew with the electrics off! I've seen the brown puffs of tyre smoke (not sure why they are brown?!!)

Personally I feel the Seas large ripples/waves out at sea move up and down to fast, but who cares it's the Sea, the last place I want to be flying an A-10 there's nowhere to hide!! Cloud shadows would be a nice addition.

Moving trains were in there in Beta 2, haven't followed the tracks long enough in beta 3 yet. But they stop if you fire the avenger at them!

I concur. I don't like the term Warthog, I prefer Thunderbolt II - I mean that is it's real name afterall!! It should be DCS: A-10C Thunderbolt II :megalol:

Have been experimenting today with a free alternative to track ir called camera mouse 2011 - it uses a webcam to track a feature on your face to generate left/right and up/down movement of the mouse cursor. Was just wondering if anyone else has been able to get it to work with DCS-A10C - it seems to work reasonably well with FSX by pressing the space bar, however I've been unsuccesful with DCS A-10C using the Alt-C command to do mouse panning?

Thanks Ragtag, trouble I have is the fact that I have no printer, I have been reading sections of the manual and have then written down as much as I can but no matter how much I write down something just goes once I get into the sim!! I was reading the HUD section yesterday and unless there's another HUD section it makes no reference to where it gets attitude etc data from, which in my opinion would be something that is required of a manual. The average Joe down the road who has never flown a plane, or perhaps used a decent PC sim before doesn't know that the HUD takes it's data feed from the INS system, but he would look at the HUD section in the manual in an attempt to find out. Its a shame we can't get one of the MFDs to have a button for displaying helpful procedures, such as start up, releasing weapons, NAV and also the reference speeds for takeoff, landing cruise etc like the knee board in FSX gives the capability. Thanks for your help it is a very big learning curve even for a plane buff like me!
-
Didn't think to check in there, thought that since it was to do with the HUD it would be in the systems section! So much to learn! Thanks again. EDIT: Just went into the options, seems I didn't also realise theres key commands for sim mode and different key commands for game mode - looks like in game mode the HOTAS MMC button is not assigned to anything since M is already assigned. Come to think of it, I shouldn't be using the game mode anyway lol
-
Okay, so I got the NAV ready indicator as per manual. What I can't for the life of me find right now is either a switch or key command that is the Master Mode Control Button apparently on the stick, which is used to cycle through the HUD modes.......? Couldn't even find reference to it in the key command list in the sim?
-
Thanks for your help Tango, I need to buy myself a printer I think :D. So what you're basically saying is that the HUD gets its pitch, roll and heading info from the INS. What I was doing was turning on HARS before taxi because it gave me the horizontal ladders on the HUD minus that moving impact point symbol showing you where you'd hit the ground. I must check out the manual. Think I'll have to get a printed version as soon as it is available to buy (if it is going to be?).

Has anyone seen any birds in this sim, I see there's a percentage for birds in the options page?

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Quid21 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
LOL Sea Harrier was more than capable against the Argentinian Mirages! Anyway, I think Sea Harrier (any version) with a nice HMS Invincible with the ski jump ramp at the end would be a great addition. Harrier in general, you could have AV8s on those assault ships the US Marines operate. Imagine take off from a car park in one of those great DCS cities or towns, or from a hide in the countryside. We can dream. -
So there I was feeling all proud at completing my first unaided engine start taxi and take-off but then things went awry. I'm doing something wrong clearly, but after numerous attempts and re-reading the abbreviated checklist someone made I can't figure out the following: 1. My Standby Attitude indicator wanders after a few minutes 2. My HUD horizon marks start to wander in the roll axis 3. What does HARS actually do and does it need to be on after start up (I find no reference to it in the mini checklist I saw. 4. If I don't press the HARS button how do i get the horizon marks on the HUD along with the impact point symbol (can't remember the technical term? Sorry for these newbie questions, but it's a helluva lot to take in. We're blessed though that we have something worthy of being called a sim now after all those competitors dumbed down attempts over the years. Suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong very welcome! David.

I believe mine are like that before clicking that button.

I concur with the previous poster, my ailerons both stick up slightly in flight whether it be on the ground or in the air. Joystick is calibrated. If it's normal then cool. How do I activate the pinkie switch on the left side of the throttle in the start up training mission - I can't seem to find anything to click on? Was something to do with the lights if I'm not mistaken.
