Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!
Wyvern replied to Mike_Romeo's topic in DCS: J-8II
I see what you mean, but I have to say, I like getting on in the evening, without having to keep 100% focused, I do appreciate having Datalink and Mavericks or JDAMs, which just nice when chilling and watching youtube on the side. And yes, i could also play Ace Combat if i want to blow up stuff with no effort, but DCS has the better physics ;3 -
Deka Simulations announces the DCS: J-8II for DCS World!

I just would like to mention that China did copy a lot of designs in the past. Although i would argue that, this isnt something negative. Its just an step in the Evolution of an Design, first you copy something and use it to learn from its mistakes to become better and make an better product. To somewhat get onto topic, even if China copied design choices from the Su-15 or if they copied other stuff from the US or other foreign nations, its quite smart. Why waste money re-inventing someone's working technology, if its cheaper to recreate it. Also, if China did manage to copy (or "steal") foreign designs, that just means their Intelligence Agencies are better than the foreign ones. As for the J-11 and the Su-27, I mean, cmon. The J-11 based off the Su-27, even through to the J-16, its obvious. The J-15 is quite literally an Reverse Engineered and upgraded Su-33. J-20 has some similarities to the MiG-1.44/MiG-MFI. JF-17 seems like its inspired from the F-20 but mixed with an J-7, which in turn is an Upgraded copy of the MiG-21 (although licensed) As I said, "even if China copied design choices from... ...foreign nations, its quite smart. Why waste money re-inventing someone's working technology, if its cheaper to recreate it... ...that just means their Intelligence Agencies are better than the foreign ones" But asides from that, you need to keep in mind how much intel was actually stolen through spies, cooperation in an desperate cold war, and how a lot of planes from an similar Era look very similar. As an example, i've read a long time ago that BAC had an design for an Harrier and Jaguar succession, that shared similarities to the Su-27s and F-15s design. That explains the similarities in the MiG-25s and F-15s design. In the Su-15 case, i assume that both Chinese and Soviet Engineers came up with similar Ideas for their designs, similar to how a lot of planes that were designed at the same time. Especially when considering that the Chinese Probably studied the Soviet designs carefully. Did the J-8II share similarites with the Su-15? yes. Is it a copy? Most likely not. I think that is the kind of spirit behind technology, there is only one perfect solution, which can only lead to all the designs being similar, as they all try to be as close to the perfect design as possible. Hey, thats almost philosophic... But keep in mind to stay respectful to everyone on here. If someone is an A-hole, dont be an A-hole yourself, be better: Remain calm and respectful. Thanks for reading, have a nice weekend. -

I even think that the Very Early PL-12s also had an R-77 Seeker that made them compatible. What I would be interested in would the R-27A and the R-27EA, basically an Active R-27 -

The issue is that it is not allowed to map out China in any way. Unless you have Government permission, and that would only be one of the many issues you have to face to make an Map set in that region -

There is ways of Ripping EDM from DCS, so I think thats what happened.... People are greedy -

I could use it, but i'm too lazy to try and match up the MiG-19 pit with FC3 -

Yes, thats what i said, just with a bit more sarcasm. -

I'd like to say 2 things, 1. Nineline is a little bit more than just a moderator here xD 2. It's just like Yoyo said. It's sunday, get your asses into growling so i have some targets for my R-27ET. -

You do realize that you can Simulate an Plane that never flew. A Simulation is Fictional. It is Simulating something that did or could happen. So, what's your point now? -

Damn... Give them a bite and they steal the entire meal... Thats really sad to see... I'll probably make an Flyable mod (just default SFM and Su-27 cockpit) for anyone interested. Now, all that J-8 is amazing, but i've heard Rumors about multiple things regarding the J-11A, will we get any news anytime soon? -

I get the point of it not being realistic. But it is not only going to be the J-8PP. The J-8II is coming before that and that one is absolutely fine from an Realism Standpoint. The PP makes no sense, as it isnt a real thing. My point however does not invalidate my opinion on the entire module and anything I said? You just act like an Toxic and Immature Kid. And as F-2 said, it makes no actual difference from an Gameplay perspective. but it wouldnt be the DCS community, if there wasnt people just complaining about a new module. We will see how Deka will turn out with the J-8. Until then, we will have to wait for more Info. -

I, for my part, will buy the plane, as I know that Deka is a highly skilled Developer. Yes I think that the J-8II is an missed opportunity for an more modern Redfor Plane, especiall considering the F-15E and Typhoon coming someday. Like, when is the J-11A going to be finished? But just complaining and complaining wont help. I'd understand if it would be an J-20 or an J-16 or something like that. But the J-8II wont have any significant Impact on the setting its going to fly in. So chill out and stop tearing apart a barely announced plane -

God for fucksake, be happy youre getting another Module. If you dont like it, don't buy it. Why would you all even care? I'm not happy either and would prefer an more modern plane. But <profanity>, can you stop bitching about "this isnt realistic, this isnt that" who gives a <profanity>, its a game in the end. You dont like it, don't buy it. but dont ruin it for anyone else. -
@uboatsi wouldn't call it fixed, maybe this could be done as an official fix? So people dont have to remove the file after every update.
-
Go to DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\JF-17\Input\JF-17\mouse and delete the Default.lua it will give you access to all controls. Note, this has to be done after every update. This works on all planes too.

Currently it is just an Su-27 that speaks Chinese, has R-77s, some different antennas, some formation lights, and an Anti-Collision light. It uses the Su-27 Flightmodel, and avionics, so besides the stuff above, it is basically an Reskin of the Su-27, functionality wise. I still have the Hope that we will see some developements soon. I remember reading, that the there was more planned, but Deka will have to speak on that.

He said that the RWR returns after a while. So the Rudder ripping off may be part of the issue, but it wouldn't be the full isssue. I would still assume it's the Blind Spot. To the part of the Rudder ripping off actually, I noticed that aswell. If you do a Roll maneuver and get too much sideslip (basically AoA but on the yaw axis), the rudder will Rip off.
-
Remember that the RWR has Blind Spots, like above the Cockpit or directly Below the cockpit. Try rolling 90° when you loose it next time. If it returns after the roll, then that is your problem.
