  1. Can anyone help with an SLMod error message please? When the first player joins the server, it crashes with.. Mission Script Error [string "slmod.sendData()":1: attempt to index global 'slmod' (a nil value) stack traceback: [C]: [string "slmod.sendData()":1: in main chunk I have DCS world 1.2.9 and SLMod 7.2.63 I have tried other versions of DCS World and earlier versions of SLMod with the same result. Thanks Matt
  2. I want to configure a dedicated multiplayer server for the squadron where members can meet and fly at anytime. Is it necessary to use a plug-in like SLMod or ServMan to periodically restart the mission or can a setup/mission be made in native DCS World where targets respawn and Tankers and AWACs are on a continuous duty cycle? The squadron are fairly civilised so the principal features of the plug-ins such as kicking and banning are not needed. Thanks Matt
  3. Sorted (nearly....) After a days work I managed to answer my own question. With help from PeterP's document and a reply in the multi-monitor thread from Slick Twitchy I added LEFT_MFCD = { x = 1920; y = 680; width = 400; height = 400; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 3440; y = 680; width = 300; height = 300; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center to my monitor setup file and it worked exactly as I had hoped. The only problem now is that the MFCDs stay in place in all of my other views, so not a perfect solution, but not bad.
  4. All the information you need is in this thread, or you can look in PeterP's excellent guide
  5. How to move MFCD position and size in HUD-ONLY mode Is it possible to reposition/resize the MFCD viewports in HUD-ONLY mode (Alt-F1)? I have a three screen set up and I want to move the MFCDs so they are over my TM Cougars, about the same position as in the attached, but when viewed in HUD-ONLY.
  6. 55 inch NECs
  7. No, I don't want to move the Bezel/OSBs, just the MFCD viewports. I have a 3 screen setup and currently the MFCDs are seven feet apart and about a foot square. I want to move them over my Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs and adjust the size so it corresponds roughly with the size of the MFCD windows. Helios is on my list of things to do, but not yet...
  8. I'm using the passenger seat from a Renault Scenic (GBP 30 from the local breakers yard). I wired the seat recline handle to a microswitch for the ejector seat. Comes in handy:thumbup:
  9. What .lua file for Hud-Only View? OK, I read Peter P's excellent document, but it refers to the standard (F1) view (selected in the Monitors setting). It doesn't say which lua file controls the set-up of the Hud Only view (Alt F1) I have searched the lua files and cant find anything that looks likely.
  10. Can I Change MFCD size and position in AltF1 view? I'm running a 3 screen setup and I'd like to move the MFCDs to the bottom left and right of the middle screen. Thanks Matt
  11. Is there a way in DCS world to explore the map from a moving virtual point? The facility exists in MS FS to navigate the terrain using the arrow keys I want to look for interesting terrain/objects such as dams, transmitter sites around which to build missions. Similarly, during a game is there a way to set a viewpoint independent of a vehicle or airfield so as to observe the action? Cheers Matt
  12. Thanks Boris, DeltaFox and Benargee, I think an informal fly in on a public server and a public Teamspeak server would be good. I could really do with some practice on formation flying, landing, targeting and weapons deployment. How about we carry on this conversation on Teamspeak? Lets set some dates/times by PM I think I may have enough bandwidth to host a server in the long run. Cheers Matt
  13. Rookie Pilot, GSOH, Own A-10C (slightly damaged), seeks similar for enhanced online learning experience. Hi, I have just started to migrate from single player missions to multiplayer and I'm having trouble finding (even slightly) organised activity. All of the squadrons seem to be not recruiting (or maybe its just me). Is there a Server flying A-10C with an associated Teamspeak channel for 2/3 ship training exercises? Whats the procedure for creating/joining informal groups for sharing of knowledge? I'm in the UK, halfway through Maple Flag's AFT qualification process, which, though very good, gets a bit boring when facing the AI limitations of the same practice exercise for the 10th time. Cheers Matt
  14. Jase, I did it by trial and error. One of the good things is that you can shift the elements around on the brackets to fit your size and later in the build to fit new components. I think it will be necessary to use sketchup if you are building to scale. See the photos in my thread 'Matt 's A10C cockpit build' for more details. Try KJN, aluminium-profile.co.uk for cheaper, pattern framing that's indistinguishable from Rexroth. I use 20x20mm frame. Matt
  15. The Up Front Controller is finished and working. Have a look at I used grey keyboard switches (part#102-311) and Tyco rocker switches, (part#710-9264)from RS. I used these switches because a) they are about the right size and function and b) they are cheap! Its all mounted on stripboard and fixed to a 2mm aluminium panel. I used letraset for the lettering and gave the whole thing a few coats of matt laquer to improve the durability (especially of the keytops). Cheers Matt
  16. Hi Jase, I use this stuff a lot and I built my cockpit using it. see The cockpit is just a frame at the moment, but I built hinges and locking pins into it so it folds flat. Its much better than MDF (imho) because you can build adjustable, modular frames with it and the mounting points are perfect to add panels using M4 screws. I recommend you get a cheap chop saw and an ally cutting blade so you can cut multiple lengths all exactly the same and they have nice clean, square ends. Good Luck Matt
  17. @panthro Its fine. As the whole instrument panel is not tall there's no disadvantage. Once I get to screens behind the MFCD's and simulated instruments (2014/15?) then I'll start to look closer at the ergonomics and realism. As I said in my reply to scarecrow above, there's much more functionality that needs to be built in first.
  18. @Scarecrow, Interesting question. What I'm doing is adding cockpit functionality as my flying skill improves - for instance I had to add rudder pedals as I couldn't nose-wheel steer or do crosswind landings without. Question is, what are the functions to add to a cockpit in order of importance? Should I build a CDU keypad next or UFC? (UFC is MUCH easier). My list would go: ( * marks what I have so far) HOTAS* Rudder pedals* MFCD buttons* Landing Gear* Armament panel* NMS* Electrical Power/Canopy(*in progress) UFC CDU Radio/ILS/TACAN - difficult because of the rotarys Fuel/SAS etc. Plus always a Track IR and cheat panel for snap views etc to make up for the deficiencies of the simulated view. What do you think? Its difficult to work this out from scratch as my flying skills (25 Hours) are not yet developed enough to make a call -I'm still doing basic maneuvering/nav and have not really progressed to proper use of weapons and avionics. Cheers Matt
  19. Thanks Suchacz, Yes. I kept the slide rails on the seat. (from a Renault Scenic) Once I'm in I can slide the seat forward and also adjust it up and down. (I need to set the height before I start the simulation because I have put a micro-switch on the seat height adjust lever and it triggers the eject when I pull it..) Using the Rexroth framing the position of everything is adjustable. I can loosen the fixings (M4 Hex bolts) and slide everything in the slots on the aluminium extrusion until it's in the right place. Matt
  20. Hi All, I'm a relative newbie to DCS A10C and I just discovered this forum. I thought I'd join in with some pictures of my 'pit. I managed to get hold of three old 55" NEC monitors from a job, which I couldn't resell (even on Ebay!) so I thought I'd put them to good use. The very wide field of view works well and makes me feel quite sick during violent manuvers (which is a good thing!). The monitors are connected through a Matrox THTG. I need a new graphics card so I can run them at full 1920 resolution. The cockpit framework is made from Rexroth Framing which I get from KJN I have not seen anyone else on this forum using it and I recommend it as it makes building a modular, expandable 'pit very easy and lightweight. I've built hinges in so the thing folds away when I need to use the space. My aim is to sacrifice realism for functionality at the moment. I just want to fly without resorting to hacking three finger commands on the keyboard. I'm using a Hagstrom KE-USB108 for the buttons/switches and with the addition of two Thrustmaster MFCDs I now have plenty of spare inputs for additional switch panels. Next job is to build a working UFC panel so I can set the weapon parameters. Cheers All, I look forward to seeing your progress and using some of the excellent resources on this forum. Matt
