  1. Referencing the FTIT/Tach "red zone" or the second of those bugs... In my experience with the F-15C, which is kinda "dated" (old) Those old "steam engine" gauges never had any red, green, yellow markings on them. Its was up to us, the crew chief, to put those zones on them with a paint pen. So, if we had other concerns with getting the jet ready for flight those kind of "window dressing" things fell by the wayside. As a pilot you knew from memory what the good, bad and ugly of those readings were.
  2. J Sasser rings a bell but that's probably a bit "before-my-time". Can't place a face with it though...pilots or maintenance? Man, talk about another lifetime ago... I could probably throw out a bunch names but I'm sure I'd rather not on an open forum like this
  3. Can't really complain about getting into a BFM fight with a Mig-23...it's still fun. I will generally wait until given permission but I think that day was a bit short on time so that may have contributed to the taxi-fubar-ness of that particular scenario. The thing with MiG-23's is that they run at you and get into your chili with an awful quickness. That last scenario was good because I snuck up behind two foxbats...
  4. patch/scenario weirdness Just finished the scenario 6 and was having some trouble with MiG-23's seemingly spawning in my back pocket. Bad enough that it made me go back and re-accomplish scenario 5. After the 2.0.2 update I was re-accomplishing the scenario 6 for about the 5th time and noticed that my wingmen did not taxi with me and it also was holding up the last wild weasel flight of F-16's as well, all 7 of them sat on the taxiway the whole time. It turned out to be my successful mission (finally!!) ...weird. Anybody else see some scenario weirdness with the last patch? Might have enough time tonight to try a wack at scenario 7...
  5. Thanks to all associated with the Red Flag DLC! A great job done by all concerned on this endeavor. As a Dedicated Crew Chief on F-15C's from '91 till '95 in the 58th FS I saw a lot of Red Flag over that span of time. As the premier Air-to-Air unit in the USAF, when it wasn't deployed it was always invited to whatever Red Flag scenarios were happening during that time. These DCS scenarios definitely give you a taste of what it was like on the ramp during those launches. If you're taxiing on time you're not at a Red Flag launch...:smilewink:. I'm only a little ways into the campaign but loved what I saw from the first scenario. Good to see that later scenarios incorporate the older airframes...was hoping to see them sometime in the campaign. Maybe we can come up with a 'retro' campaign with some of the older airframes in the sim. Would like to see some of the old F-4G's running the Iron Hand mission, MiG-21's and more MiG-23/25...etc...
  6. Hmmm...yeah....it would be nice! :music_whistling:
  7. Any chance we might see the JAWS paintscheme in the future?
  8. I've seen in the mission editor how one can change the "bort" number (tail number) but everytime I try to put my jet's tail number, 146 in the window I get a 78-346 for a tail number. 80-146 is my jet here at DM in the "Dragons" and I'd like to get some great screen-caps with my jet as the main object. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Please....may I have the JAWS paintjob back as an option? puh-lease!
  10. <---actual A-10 crewchief...don't worry about it man...just don't do it on a Friday. It'll screw up my weekend. I'll just tell our weapons guys to get after it. 8)
  11. Fulda Gap for me! Western/Eastern Europe.
  12. This Beta is pretty much all I play atm. This thing is sweeeeeet! I didn't get the Black Shark sim just because...well, it's just not my "cup -of-tea" I guess. Now the A-10 has been one of my favorites for many...many years. I'm actually a jet maintainer (Crew Chief) in the USAF. For the last 19.5 years I've crewed F-15's and I'm about to go and start working on A-10's later this year. Honestly, I don't think that ED/DCS has anything to worry about. It seems that they are "all in" into putting out a quality product and won't let production deadlines shortcut them into putting things out before they are ready. That has been the death-knell for many games before... Many thanx ED!
  13. Thanx for the help! Well, still waiting on my JAWS....
  14. Three points for Memphis Belle...:D
  15. Yep, seems to have worked at least for the mission generator... so far no joy yet on the paint-scheme thing though...:noexpression:
  16. :music_whistling: Yeh, sorry about that...missed the whole thing...like, twice.... Huked-on-Foniks werks-fer-mee
  17. On the Fast mission generator if you select Nevada map and put in a Start from Ramp selection the Fast Mission Generator will not generate a mission and will give you a "Mission not Generated". So I have to go into the mission editor and make the changes I want while in the editor. On the same thing when I'm making the changes in the editor on the mission quickly generated I notice that changes made to A-10 and F-15 paint schemes will not happen even though I hit the save button in the editor after making the changes.
  18. Note... Using the Fast Mission Generator selecting the Nevada map and selecting the "start from ramp" option the generator does not function and gives you the "Mission not generated" error message when using advanced menu or just kicks you back out if using the simplified menu and hitting the "fly" button.
