I own both and - along with the F-14 and Mirage 2000k fly them a lot. But sometimes I want to fly a Mi-24 hind. Other times I’m in a WW2 mood. When the F-4 comes out. I’ll be into that. Can’t fly only 2 planes for 6 years!
-
Not as many as some; about 15 (not including the FC-3 pack). I don’t really ever fly 4 of them (mirage F1, Mig 19, Mig 15, f-86) but the others I do…in “bursts” depending on mood. But trust me, there are a lot of people who have invested more than me. So I figure that we should get a lot more room to yell and complian over stuff like this compared to a regular $50 game
-
Well, according to steam, the value of all of the modules, maps, etc you can purchase is like $3500. So yeah, figure about 15 modules, all of the maps and probably over a dozen campaigns…it adds up. That’s not including the VR/HOTAS/pedals crap.

I have to agree. When I developed the problem Tuesday night, I was suprised to learn that this had been a known issue for a month (saw a post from mid February). Not sure if they didn’t put out a hot fox long ago b/c the oculus update was still in beta or what but yeah….could have put something out it was a bit surprising to see that this was a known issue, see how prevalent it has become and still be here days/weeks later waiting for a fix so we can actually play the game BUT….I KNOW ED is working hard on it and I can’t imagine them holding onto a fix unless they had to. That said, we can all agree it’s frustrating not knowing anything. So….here’s hoping the patch comes out tomorrow so I can play the game that Steam says I’ve given over $1,000 to ED to play. Can’t do Steam VR. Performance is horrid
-
The steam VR thing works for most of us. The problem is the performance is absolutely horrible, so it’s a no go for me. Others I think are still having trouble with it.
-
Things get heated when people can’t play; especially when many of us have paid over $1,000 into all the modules/maps. BUT…ED is going to do what they feel is best and that’s that. They know we are upset, they know there’s a lot of us, they know what they need to do to fix it…and no amount of screaming and yelling and gnashing of teeth is going to make any difference. if they could just “release a hot fix “they would have it’s obviously something more complicated than that; I assume anyway
-
Updated to beta on quest. No change. i did get VR working setting SteamVR as openXR but without the Oculus software and OTT (with openxr) performance is bad. Makes me realize how much OTT and open XR outside of SteamVR is: night and day. so…back to pancake
-
I did that. I couldn’t get it to work. It launched but my display was just an aircraft hangar and no menu. Same screen i get on my desktop when I take my goggles off. My error to be sure but nevertheless. I’ll give it a shot again later
-
I haven’t been able to get the “force oculus” thing to work. Not sure about the performance if I did. I’ll have to go into the config file and set VR enable to false so it will load; and I’ll play pancake until a fix thanks BigNewy….that makes sense Qcumber: at work now, I’ll see when I get home. It updates automatically so I can’t see why I wouldn’t have the newest; unless there is a beta that you can download if selected
-
That’s really disappointing. I’d hope that if there was a large segment of the customer base that couldn’t use their product, ED would release a hotfix and not make people wait until whenever a patch comes out. Maybe it’s more complicated than that. Dunno Maybe the patch will come out tomorrow? I don’t know a damned thing about software and I’m sure ED will do their best….but It sucks not being able to use something I have put $1,000s or dollars into for sure.
-
Yep. It was whatever updated today. I thought it was 63 going stable from beta. My oculus app on the PC updated, then my headset. Then…nuthin seems BigNewy has a good handle on the issue though. He says it’s something to do with the new Oculus download. Meta’s answer is “if the game you’re playing won’t work with the new Oculus software, that is the game developers fault”: which is a bit off putting but whatever. I have ALOT more faith in ED fixing it than I do Meta
-
Did it change your oculus Home Screen from the 3 windows to two?
-
Ugh/ ok Did the new Oculus update change the what you see in your headset when you run the oculus App and turn on headset? on another note, I tried setting SteamVR as the opemXR instead of oculus but my headset wouldn’t put me in the game…no menu just the inside of a hanger. Not sure that helps a damn thing but whatever i finally had 2 hours to play today for the first time in awile. No wife, no kids….and no f’ing luck

Steam version won't start after update to 2.9 - both 2D and VR
Mike_CK replied to Willdass's topic in General Bugs
Thank you. I think I’ll just stop messing with settings for now until the fix. I don’t understand the whole “openXR” vs “steamVR”, stuff. I open oculus, OTT, steam, turn on my headset, confirm boundary, enable link, click “play” on steam DCS scream (with mouse) and it goes. That’s all I know -
It won’t likely work. Meta put out a notice (and ED confirmed) that the version 63 update won’t work with DCS openXR. personally, the new oculus update messed up more than DCS. Now, when I start up oculus, it asks me to confirm my boundary and then I get a notice about signing in. I have to unplug my link and plug back in to get the “enable link” option. Just classic example of “fixing” something that was working just fine
-
Is it possible that meta dropped a beta that fixes this? When I get back on I’ll try to compare my v63 number but looking back in this thread as to how long this has been an issue, it would be really nice if we could get a hotfix before the patch (unless it’s tomorrow) since there are a lot of us who cannot play at all
-
Thanks. Don’t think I can play in 2d anymore. Lost all immersion in that awhile ago. Have to wait for ED to put out a fix
-
Got it back to “normal” but workaround doesn’t work for me. Seems problem is well known and META denies any responsibility. if i can figure out how to “un-enable VR” without opening the game, I will play pancakes

Steam version won't start after update to 2.9 - both 2D and VR
Mike_CK replied to Willdass's topic in General Bugs
Ok. Last time I played i obviously had “VR enabled”. I think that’s why I can’t load DCS regardless if I have my oculus running is there a file I can pull up to manually disable VR so I can just use track IR? -
I hope so. Now my headset won’t talk b/c it says no openvr after I made this change in the steam VR. I clicked it, it went to something else, but now my oculus won’t read my headset, game me a notice about “no open XR”. ””4. set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime “ Tried opening steam VR to change back and it just says ”no open XR API layers installed” Is there a file where I can “unselect” “enable VR” Without having to open the game? It won’t open at all even if I try in desktop so o guess it still thinks I’m in Vr i messed things up on steam VR making that change I tried the workaround in the post above now my headset won’t talk to the software, I get a notice about no open XR and I can’t switch back!
-
Tried this ”4. set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime (sorry i dont know the correct english term) and i don't know about the "Meta Plugin Compatibility". i had it "off" in my quick test.” but now my oculus won’t “talk”’to my computer. Got a notice on oculus that my runtime wasn’t set to openxr. Wouldn’t let me Change anything though Now in steam VR where I clicked the openxr thing, it went back to “manage openxr API layer- 0’active” wont let me go back to what it was before. So now I can’t get my headset to talk to oculus. Arrrfggg says “no open XR API layers installed

How do I “roll back” on my oculus 2? I don’t have an app on my phone or something but I have the oculus 2 software on my computer … (I tried reading the link but it’s beyond me. Saying “roll back” isn’t a help if I don’t know how to Maybe this. Until oculus fixes it, I can play in track iR. Problem is that I have “enable VR” set in game and i can’t open the game to change it. Is there a file I can modify?

Steam version won't start after update to 2.9 - both 2D and VR
Mike_CK replied to Willdass's topic in General Bugs
Tried renaming my saved game folder and that didn’t work. No matter how i try to load it (from steam menu or desktop), I get the DCS loading window for about 3-6 seconds and then it goes off. No error messages -

Don’t mean to double post but just saw this and it seems like I have the same issues. I’m verifying integrity now but was wondering if there was a resolution for this ( I will try renaming saved game file). just had an oculus update so thought it was that but won’t load without VR either. I have had ZERO problems for a year…come home today, oculus upgrade, view in my VR looks different and I can’t load DCS regardless of whether I click in VR, desktop or steam. Just starts loading and then….stops im not very computer savvy so I don’t know how to get to all of these logs and stuff. I’m on windows 11. All drivers updated.
