I know DCS track file has been corrupted for years. Since DCS 2.8 has been released, I hope there are some improvements come with game recording. As far as I know, we have several ways to record game play: - Save tracks in single player mode - Play in multiplayer mode but use tracks generated by client - Play in multiplayer mode but use tracks generated by server - Play in multiplayer mode but use tracks generated by standalone(dedicated) server - Play in multiplayer mode but use tracks generated by standalone client Which one is better?

Normal procedure for Maveric at VIS mode is: Enter VIS mode In HUD, slew the box symbol to the target TMS up to designate the target Lock target from Maveric Fire After firing the first missile, second missile is automatically seleceted. That's good. But I can't make the second Maveric ground stablized, no matter how many times I press TMS up. It keeps moving around as my aircraft moves. I have to use TMS DOWN to undesignate target, then start the procedure all over again, which is inconvenient. Is it a bug or just true to life?

Trimming the Aircraft with Targeting Pod Mounted
brucewhf replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I guess the point is how much time do you 'hold' the button in one click. I usually press and hold the trim button and I lost track of how many '0.1G' did I trigger. -
The targeting pod for F-16 is mounted at the right side, which results in inbalance after take off. I have to trim my aircraft everytime with targeting pod mounted. This is very annoying because I'm unable to trim it perfectly. Is there a way to balance the aircaraft without trimming?

Mannual says the Remote Radio Compass on P-51 won't jump around when maneuvering, but it's not true. I have to keep my aircraft absolutely stable in order to get correct reading, otherwise the needdle will keep moving and the result is unreliable. Unfortunately keeping a warbird stable is not an easy job. So what is the correct way to use this compass?

I started over this mission, and this time I kept the engine running within its limitation. Fortunatelly, engine did not die at the moment of engagement. So it has nothing to do with my fuel nor mixture settings. Then I applied full throttle, full RPM during the engagement. It(engine) didn't last long and died several minutes later, with no sign of overheating. I made a crash landing and the mission failed. I flew Mustang a lot in multiplayer server, it feels that Mustang in campaign is more fragile than server. Weird!

After crossing the ocean, when the flight leader said start engaging, my engine died immeditely. Then I replaied my track, took over control several minunies before the engagement. Sadly engine died again at the exact same time as the last round. Then I tried third time, replaied track, took control just before engagement, and the engine died again, at the exact same moment. I admit that I do keep the engine running at maximum RPM(3000) all the time, but all gauges are normal, there's no trace of malfunction at all. So why my engine quits at the exact same moment, same point over and over again? Weird! PS: Track file uploaded(file is too big to be uploaded to this forum). It happened at 5:39:21. Found A Way to Keep Engine at Maximum Power Without Damage
brucewhf replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I've done some tests, it turns out that the engine temp heavily depends on environment temp. If outside temp is 4 degrees celsius, engine nealy never quits with both switches on. If 30 degrees celsius, the engine will definitely burn out soon with maximum power setting, no matter how. -
P47 is really really really bad at dogfight.

Which is more reliable? the compass or gyro?
brucewhf replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Pay attention to the specific word 'maneuvered'. I think it stands for 'after you finish the maneuver', which means fly straight and level By the way, is the Gryro Drift correctly modeled in DCS? -
Thanks, damn useful. Locking an emeny helo is much more easier

In RWS mode, TMS up will bring you to SAM mode, which can guide AIM120 to the target. The question is when I 'bugged' a target in SAM mode, will target get radar lock warning? I've done lots of googling but ended up with confusion. Someone says yes, while others says no.

Is the max throw angle improved?

Rudder plays an important role in WWII warbird, e.g., cordinated turn. But in modern aircraft such as F-16C, rudder seems useless. I want to buy a real rudder but I'm concerned about it's a waste of money for F-16C

One tip to remind, if you change the value directly instead of adding one, you must modify another keyboard lua scrpit as well, otherwise the trim will stop working

P-47's nose is blocking the view during dogfight
brucewhf replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Yes, I can wait. But the shoot window will be smaller than P-51, since I have to get closer -
There's a post describing how to decrese trim sensitivity, by modifying a .lua script. You can give a search.

Why P-47 is so much harder to control than P-51?
brucewhf replied to brucewhf's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
P-47 has much better image quality than P-51. P-51's cockpit looks blurry and aged -
Hi, have you noticed that the P-47's gunsight is too close to the nose so that the nose always blocks the view when you are pulling massive lead in order to fire on enemy (The enemy is always behind the nose so you cannot see it). P-51 does not have this problem, the distance beteween gunsight and nose is much longer. This makes a huge difference during a dogfight, because in P-51 I can shoot from a longer distance with good accuracy. P51's gunsight: P47's gunsight:
