The aircraft turns just fine. You have to bear in mind that it can easily get outside of its limits, but as long as you practice pay attention to speed, angle of attack and keep her in the envelope including user of rudder the MiG 21 is every bit as agile as her infamy would have you believe.
-
The aircraft designers thought the same thing. It's extremely handily placed within easy fast reach of your right thumb on the stick.

There it is! Told you I'd miss something ;)

Combat maneuvers more than tactics.

You're all very welcome, and thanks very much to Leatherneck for giving me the chance to take a look and make it. As I said in the video, hopefully not long now before everyone gets their hands on this beast.

Yup - the grin has been permanent since first jumping in. LOVE this aircraft.

For now.

Thanks for the support guys - I do appreciate it. I am not putting the video back up. I will certainly let those who want to see it have access to it, but it will remain out of sight. My reasoning here is not the heat it seemed to generate, both in terms of comments on my channel, likes and dislikes on the video itself, and of course debate in here. This is only the second video I have ever pulled, the first being because I actually got threats of physical violence (yeah I know - insane!). I pulled this one because it seemed to me that there was an extremely high chance that I had missed something and thus it was a factually incorrect video. It's kind of like putting up a video saying "Game XYZ Simply Doesn't work" only to later find out your monitor was turned off. So, I'm doing more research than I would normally do in a first impressions video right now and will release another first impressions later. I am taking Boomer's guidance on board since unlike most of the developers and many of you guys he actually deals with Real helicopters every day. I'm also watching closely the other threads and comments in this one actually qualifying why the stuff I found in my video is actually correct, at least in part. Ultimately what I'm after is ascertaining if I was simply being a noob (despite hundreds of hours in other Helicopters on X-Plane and with my own RC ones), or something else...... Again thanks for the support... (edit) and feedback

Thanks for your feedback, but no I didn't troll you guys. That video was my honest opinion after spending quite a lot of time with the product since release. In fact, I was also one of the first people to live stream it after release. Regardless as I said, it appears I must be missing something here so down it goes, and back to the drawing board go I.

You know what, I'm pulling the video down, so apologies to newcomers that click on the link in the first message since that won't go anywhere. It's looking very much like I made some pretty poor mistakes in this video and as a result give a possibly incorrect view of the current state of the beta. So with that in mind the video is going down, and I'll revisit it at a later date. Many thanks for all the feedback, and apologies for those who's blood pressure rose unduly.

Not a problem at all. In fact, I'd like to address a few misconceptions if I may. First, and perhaps most importantly, this is a First Impressions video (one in fact that I'm considering taking down as I have no desire to offend a bunch of people). If you go through my channel you'll see that First Impressions are invariably just that - a view into what your first impressions may be should you also fire a product up. I *ONLY* do first impressions videos though on products that I actually really want to spend a lot of time with and they are nearly always followed up with highly detailed in depth tutorials that, frankly, you won't find anywhere else. For example my 737 series with over a quarter of a million views now, and the rapidly growing airbus series. Second, I have flown a lot of simulated helicopters and no, not in FSX. This felt very very wrong to me on many levels, but as I said I'm not a Huey pilot so I'll take it as read that I must have just made a mistake here. To that end I will be spending a lot more time in it (and as I said in the video I personally am very excited by this product and its potential). Happy to take on board constructive feedback and more than willing to completely change my view of something if I'm wrong. Not so keen on trolls and hate mail though - I've worked very hard to keep that YouTube channel troll free and a source of good information. This particular video, it's sounding like, is not a source of good information so I'm sitting here pondering what to do about it.

Thanks, I'll check them out.
-
Thanks will certainly do that.
-
Probably right and I'll certainly be paying a lot more attention to that in any subsequent videos looking in detail at this aircraft. Thanks for the feedback.

Agreed - sloppy control, over correcting - I think I even said that right at the start after I screwed up the take off.

Oh boy. Here we go. First up, to address the first poster here, I am not reviewing this product for the magazine, and typically we don't do full "reviews" of beta products anyway. Next, My recommendation was that given the current state that being that it is in beta and that there are still issues with the flight model that Belsimtek have acknowledged I would not Urge people to rush out and buy it unless they are either very into the helicopter or felt compelled to in some way support the product's development (as I do, since I bought it). It was a first impressions video, to address SimFreak's comment there, and so yes it was somewhat rushed and not up to the in depth standards of say the 737 series of videos I have made. Finally, to answer fjacbosen, my experience with simulated helicopters is primarily in X-Plane and of course with DCS Black Shark (which I have also done a few videos on teaching people how to fly it through the phases they are struggling with). Outside of simulation my only experience with helicopters is with the 4 radio control scale ones sitting on the shelf behind me. With all that said, and as I said in the video, there are still issues with it. I made the video because people have been asking me to and I gave my honest opinion of it as a customer. I am a big fan of DCS in general despite the ongoing list of bugs throughout the platform (netcode, weapon performance, AI performance etc etc). I am very keen on the Huey, but do not feel the product today is at the stage where I would actively encourage people to buy it. I'm sure that will change and I'm certain to post follow up videos as a result.

Triple-head/Multi-Monitor GUI and NVG Fix
froogle replied to PeterP's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Anyone know a fix that works in multiplayer tho - I use this setup for the menus and briefing and it works great, but for some reason multiplayer always overrides any zoom settings I put in and I end up jammed up against the windshield again. -
That makes no sense. You spent the money cos you want to fly it, but you want your money back and won't want to fly it if they don't have a fix for you within the next few hours??? I had the same problem on my machine. First deactivate the game - find the Protect.exe in the bin folder, and READ what you see then deactivate. Next, uninstall. Next, reinstall 1.0 Run it Click Quick Combat/Instant Action - you'll be asked to activate so put in your original black shark key. When the cockpit appears quit out, and exit the sim. Then run the 2.0 installer. All worked just fine here following those steps, first time.

Just saw your other post in the support area- I think I'm talking about something different. You're talking about custom MFCD output location. I don't do that. When I say multi monitors, I'm just talking about the sim running at 6100x1080 etc rez on 3 monitors, not custom MFCD positioning.

+1

Not entirely sure what people mean by No Multi Monitor. I run 3 monitors in Eyefinity at 6100x1080 and got a significant frame rate boost. I can also turn down options now and end up with a flyable experience with the graphics options set to 3 monitors. Multi-monitor, in Eyefinity at least, works fabulous!

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..
froogle replied to HAVOC131's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I don't give her enough credit. She's a fabulous wife and normally just fine with everything. This was just a fairly significant sudden expense. -
I've had it since the first public beta but never really spent a lot of time in it. I'd just read a bit, fly a bit, fail miserably and walk away. I forced myself 2 weeks ago to study and practice, study and practice - now I can't put the damn thing down. I just wish there were more multiplayer servers up. I've honestly yet to find a genuinely friendly intimidating server to play on.

Ok, I'll stop lurking. You piss your wife off by loading up the credit card you just cleared down on two more monitors and another Radeon to set up Crossfire. Yeah, really happened. -
HARD COPIES OF FLIGHT MANUAL AND CHECKLIST

9.72 - Excessive quoting of the rules will result in forever being tarnished with the brush of uber annoyance.
