F18 Operation Cerberus North Campaign Mission 2 and 4 Crash
Jonnylap1 replied to Jonnylap1's topic in Game Crash
I just realized I made a mistake with the Campaign title. I was actually playing Operation Cerberus North. As for the zip file, I'm not seeing any in my logs folder for some reason. I'll also attach the crash and dmp if that helps. dcs.20230220-223000.crash dcs.20230220-223000.dmp dcs.log dcs.log.old debrief.log -
Hi, I experienced a crash while playing mission 2 and 4 of this campaign. Can you please tell me if I have done something wrong? I don't have any mods running. Thanks so much for your help. Jonathan dcs.log dcs.log.old debrief.log

Thanks anyways people. It's clear what the consensus is.

The videos I've seen are takeoffs from the runway and they go straight up without losing a beat it seems.

Maybe T/W ratio is not the correct term. What I'm confused on is how there are youtube videos of F18s (Including Canadian jets to prove they aren't super hornets) climbing vertically up past 30000' without stalling or slowing, whereas in the game I seem to loose speed far before reaching that kind of altitude. I have even tried flying naked without any pylons or external fuel tanks. Is this simply a DCS limitation to not fully mirror the capabilities of the F18, perhaps for classified reasons?

Hello all, I have a quick question. In reality the F-18 can sustain a vertical climb almost indefinitely due to its high thrust to weight ratio. However, when I try any steep climbs in DCS I quickly lose speed and eventually stall. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug maybe? Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks for your help!

I figured it out! I'm so sorry to have wasted your time. It turns out your were right straight off the bat, it was a mod that was interfering. I thought I had deleted all my mods a long time ago, but still had one called "DCS Walkman" hidden deep in my folder. The conflict was that my VoiceAttack software was registering my saying "Shuffle", "Next Song", etc when I was talking to my phone as me talking to the Walkman app which had the same keybinds set up as the UHF radio settings. (ie, LCntrl+Lshift 5 for Shuffle and LCntrl+Lshift 4 for next song). Hope this helps in case you get another person like me who is screwing themselves up all on their own. Thanks so much for your quick replies, and thanks again for this awesome campaign. I have to say it is definitely one of my favorites in all of DCS. It's clear you put in a tonne of effort into this! PS, I'm still very keen to be a voice actor down the road if you'll still have me.

Hi there, and thanks so much for the quick reply! I know how busy you must be these days. Thanks for the info about Anderson Field. In the Kneeboard it has 38.6 listed as a FM Frequency so I assumed it would guide me back there. That makes sense about it being built in, thanks for the head's up. As for the idea of Easy Comms, I checked and did have it enabled, so I went ahead and disabled it. After that I tried playing the next mission (Mission 8 ) and noticed the issue is still there for some strange reason. The left UHF Radio knob continues cycling down from MAN to GD/XMIT, and now strangely I noticed the right knob also cycles down from TR all the way to ADF. I don't have any mods installed and doubled checked that my HOTAS binds don't have any set up for the UHF radio (I also included a screenshot if it helps at all). There's definitely a possibility I'm missing something, but have no idea what it is. - I'm not sure if this matters, but I use the Auto Start feature when spawning in, and while things are spooling up I turn on and dial in the radios. Could this be the issue? Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate your time!

Hi, I just want to say that so far this campaign has blown me away. What an amazing job you've done! While playing mission 7 I had an issue where the UHF radio kept automatically switching to GD/XMT throughout. It was set to Man (and I even tried using Preset 1 at times). It was on TR, but it seemed no matter what I tried the knob would eventually cycle down after a couple of minutes and I would potentially miss out on some communications. This might be a glitch, or maybe I was doing something wrong? Also, on another note, I've noticed the FM Channel for Anderson Field directs somewhere far away from the actual airfield. Is it perhaps on a different channel than what is on the kneeboard? Either way, despite these small issues this campaign has been absolutely incredible to play! Thank you so much for all the hard work you've put into this! It's amazing! Regards, Jonathan

F-20 Tigershark project
Jonnylap1 replied to nibbylot's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Yes. Looks that way. He mentioned a few times 2 years ago that he's moved into other things. Looks like the release of the JF-17 also filled that void for a lot of people. -
Hi all, I currently have the Thrustmaster Warthog F18 Stick and just acquired the F-16 grip so I can have access to an extra hat. Just curious if there are any issues if I were to use the F18 stick when I fly the Hornet and then switching to the F16 Grip when I fly the Viper, or the A-10C? I would prefer to use the same base and just switch the grips, but also have a second base incase it's easier to plug in the new unit each time. Are there any issues with setting up keybinds, or having my system/or the game recognize the change? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hi all. What MP servers would you recommend for someone who is looking to do Strike without needing to worry about a whole bunch of enemy aircraft flying sround? I keep getting roasted before I can even make it to a target. Lol I fly the Hornet. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply. I have tried again and still can't seem to get the cross hairs to close despite pressing the TDC. Everything is armed and ready to go and the countdown is long over. The triangle is where I want it to be, but no lock. If you got it to work in your end it surely must be something I'm doing wrong. Oh well, I guess I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks ayways for double checking.

Yes. They are both on. I was successful using the laser guided ones 2 mins prior. I didn't turn them off after.

Hi there, I must say that both your Serpent's Head campaigns have been fantastic so far! My issue is regarding Mission 8 in the Serpent's Head 2 Campaign. I can't seem to get the AGM-65F IR Maverick to fire. I have confirmed that it is targeting the vehicle nicely and is uncaged in the selected DDI, but it stays X'd out the entire time. I have also ensured that the seeker head has adequately warmed up as well and the timer has counted down. I have tried running in from further away, but if I don't stay really close I get the "Mission Failed" message. My question is, is using the AGM-65F mandatory to pass the mission, or can I equip the AFTLIR and laze the target using a laser guided Maverick? Thanks so much for your help!
