  5. more recent stuff from diehlthe commonly refer to SL as a series or family of missiles nowadays, like recently but it also goes back a bit like with this diagram it also says IRIS-T SLM on the missile container oh yea random information as a sidenote: the missile numbering on the truck: so i asked Diehl Defence they said it was SL at the beginning because it was the only SL variant but then more developments happened and now theres 3 variants thus the newer name is SLM though it is the same missile as the SL
  6. good stuff please make sure that the missile is also called IRIS-T SLM though. "SL" is an old name from when it was the only Surface Launched variant, back when MEADS was still a thing/in development
  7. this is not CH's fault, this is EDs fault for not wanting modders to make proper flight models of weapons so no, this is not possible until ED changes their stance on this which i dont see happening soon

  9. Yeah its annoying. it applies to SAMs as well; this really got on my nerves while implementing Aster 30 Block 2
  10. This is the same as with AS-24 vs Patriot. When you're going fast, you cant maneuver a lot. the slower interceptor can maneuver a lot. reaction time is also not an issue here. sure there will be situations where SM-6 would miss but "SM6 will not be able to intercept it" as a blanket statement is just wrong
  11. YJ-21 is still a ballistic missile. it might go faster but its still ballistic. SM-6 realistically has the best chance of intercepting it here as it is faster with more range than SM-2 and hits targets lower than SM-3 so this behaviour is good. fast does not mean invisible or uninterceptable. this is a DCS limitation, at least for modders. Above about 30.000m the missile starts to not turn anymore and will miss 100% of the time.
  12. you need to download the update versions. and replace the files from the full version with the new ones. US should be 1.1.4 and China should be 1.1.3.

  18. I'd like to have some opinions/a discussion on the Aster 30 Block 2. I found some french documents that have comparisons to THAAD, SM-3, Patriot and Aster 30 Block 1. From those I know things like: optimised for 20-70km, meant to intercept SRBMs and MRBMs endoatmospheric (up to 100km). It should complement THAAD and SM-3 but have a lower service ceiling. My issue is that range is kinda iffy. Its a booster + sustainer + kill vehicle setup (modeled as booster + powered kill vehicle because 3 stage missiles arent possible in dcs afaik). Currently its set up in a way where it intercepts Scuds 167km away. considering thats its quite the big missile (450mm diameter) i think the range is fine but if you think its ridiculous i'd be glad to change it (excuse the resolution, aster 30-2 on top, thaad in the middle, rim-161 sm-3 on the bottom) thank you for your feedback you can test it from https://github.com/zahnatom/HighDigitSAMs/tree/devtest
  19. SA-5, SA-2 and SA-3 are in core game already, no need for mods. same for MIM-23 HAWK and Rapier

  22. huh so this is strange.... the mission you provided works fine for me. in fact it seems ike DCS is being weird with map positions: testing.miz I tested over crimea because thats all flat and somehow that makes it fail
  23. i'll check again this weekend but what happened to the missiles is that they lofted above the missile and then couldn't turn back down again to hit it
