  1. Did you ever get the numbers fixed? I am trying the same thing.
  2. I am very impressed. It seems 1.2.5 will be here very shortly?? For anyone who is not interested in FC3, please reconsider. I booted up the original LockOn (tm Ubisoft, used here without prior consent) just to see what I used to enjoy... WOW!! I was so underwhelmed that I cannot believe I ever played that game with enthusiasm. Any way, we all would like to have every aircraft in the world modeled as nicely as the A10C, but the reality of having FC3 in the meantime is astounding. Actually, I would not want to master every system on all of those planes, but FC3 has found a very playable happy medium when you want something different. When the Hornet comes out, I will probably shelf FC3 and everything else, but I will never regret buying any ED product. Taking my girl out to dinner costs more (and I get less enjoyment out of it, but don't tell her!!) Thanks again, ED for remembering all of us, not just the ones who are avid rabid reality or nothing guys. Of course, I am one of those too, when the Hornet comes out.
  3. I couldn't agree more. I have never regretted purchasing a product from ED, and frankly, I am very surprised to see people upset about buying FC3. I have not even touched half the planes in there, and I am delighted. $20 is not a lot of money and if it allows ED to continue to produce these products I will gladly pay it. The company has consistently made excellent products. Their support and bug fixes are tremendous. They work seemingly tirelessly to provide everyone (not just those who want nothing less than DCS:A10C complexity) with great products. Does anyone else wonder why ED has really taken off lately? Could it be that we have partially financed them with our purchase of FC3 and CA? The more money that goes their way, the faster we will see amazing things. Personally, I have the cash and even though I have FC3 I will be purchasing every one of the new FC products, although I am bursting with anticipation for the Hornet!! :D As far as I am concerned, if you are unhappy about FC3 try going back to regular LockOn (TM Ubisoft, used here without their prior consent) or Falcon 4. I bet you will not be happy with them anymore.:joystick:
  4. Hey brother pilots, I am doing the patches today and going over the change logs. Now, when I usually get a patch from a game, I look at the change log and see the things that annoyed me or that I wished fixed and I am usually pleased. With most of my games, I usually get through the change log and say, "They forgot or didn't get to this or that." No big deal. I couldn't do it so I am still pleased. Then there is ED! Every single time they patch, I go through the change logs and see everything that I would have expected to see..... then a full list of fixes that I never knew needed fixed! ED's attention to the tiniest detail really boggles my mind! They always fix several things that I had never even thought of, every small detail is scrutinized and microscoped and other nasty things, until ED patches seem to work on every facet of the game. I can only imagine the attention to detail that it takes to make a patch for every aircraft, DCS World, and at the same time bring out Combined Arms! Oh, and by the way, they are also still working on everything else that we want. In my humble opinion, this is what will make DCS stand out over the long run, even beyond the greats like Falcon4. I am very grateful to the company, as well as all the testers who put in the hard work, just in case I noticed that the ball took .3 seconds to center after three consecutive immelmans if my wingman was damaged! Once again, thank you guys. I will always support your incredibly hard work. Just a pilot
  5. And at the same time, have updated ALL of their products and brought a new product into open beta! All I can say is ED has really shown their professionalism and dedication to us. I am simply humbled.
  6. Hey longbow, Here is what I have come up with concerning your particular problem. First, Paul is exactly correct. Your Radar warning receiver will not tell you when you are targeted by an IR sam. However, Wiki gave me another hint which you can try. Each 9M37 missile is 2.2 m (7.2 ft) long, weighs 40 kg (88 pounds) and carries a 3.5 kg (7-15 pound) warhead. The maximum speed of the missile is near Mach 2, engagement range is from 500...800 to 5000 m (0.3–3 miles) and engagement altitude is between 10 and 3500 m (33-11,500 ft). (The ranges define the zone of target intercept, minimum and maximum launch distances are longer for approaching and shorter for receding targets, depending on the target's speed, altitude and flight direction.) Try attacking that particular system from an altitude of say 15,000'. You should stay well above his engagement zone. Remember that this will not help you against some other SAM site, but if all you are up against is a Strela-10 you should be able to overfly him safely. This tactic is used in real life by A-10 squadrons after air superiority and SAM suppression has taken out the obvious other threats. Hope this helps!
  7. Where I work, the only use of a downlock release switch is when you need the gear up to clear an obstacle. That's it. Of course you won't be fired for playing with yours in the game, so have fun with it!
  8. Now you will all think this is silly, but I run the game quite well considering its a beta. Believe it or not, I can usually run in Medium settings unless we want to have a full blown war. then its down to all low settings. And your setup blows mine out of the water. My setup is 7 years old and its been a year or two since my last upgrade. Please do not laugh too hard when you see my specs below. She is old, and I have been waiting on a sim that would make it worth my while to upgrade. Now I have found it! I love A-10C!
  9. What Dark says is completely true. +1 Bro. Also, to aid your situational awareness, my first flight instructor taught me the +2-2 method of finding a reciprocal course and it helps me immeasurably in the game and real life. What you do is take the runway, in this example 08 and add 2 to one digit and subtract 2 from the other one. Then add the 0 at the end and you will find the heading that you want to taxi on. So for this runway I would add 2 to 0 and subtract 2 from 8 to get 260. That is the heading that you want to taxi to reach the proper end of the runway. If you were given runway 36, you would subtract 2 from the 3 and add 2 to the 6, getting a heading of 180 to taxi on. Some guys I fly with just look at the opposite side of the heading dial on the HSI, but with practice my +2-2 works every bit as well. I also use this when flying the downwind leg of the approach to find the heading opposite the runway I am trying to land on.
  10. Also, in real life there is a harmonic while flying any multi-engine aircraft. It is very low level and kinda throbs when the engines are not synched exactly. It is not very noticeable at first, but ask any multi-engine flight instructor what the one worst thing his students do and he/she will say they hate that the student leaves the throttles together. Subtle changes of one of the throttles will make the harmonic go away. After half an hour of the throbbing wah-wah-wah you get tired. After four hours you are ready to kick something. Latching the throttles together would take away your ability to remove the harmonic. Of course, there is no harmonic in the game, so do what you like.
  11. W is the default key for brakes. Go into your options and check to see that W is your key for brakes. I had trouble with my pedal brakes till I realized that I had not assigned them in the options. Also, make sure your W key is the brakes both for the A-10 Game and A-10 Sim up in the left corner. That can be confusing as well if you are looking at the options for the sim and playing in game mode. Hope this helps. 150 kias seems very high for landing speed as well. Check your weight with a little math before starting the mission. Remember that the rule of thumb is 120 KIAS for 30,000 lb aircraft and 2 knots for every 1000 lbs above that. You should still be able to stop though, even at 150 kias. Also, what Exangelus says is completely true. Batumi is I believe at 13 ft ASL so the altitude is no factor. Don't EVER try to land with a tailwind. Careful there. No wet runways until you work out this brake problem as well would be my advice.
