unable to reproduce Canopy sun reflections are very pixelated
Moxica replied to Moxica's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thx for yer replies, guys. Not easy to make a screenshot; Must be a sunset-ish mission, and I must make a turn at a certain angle to the sun. Will try a repair. Here is my log at least: Edit: and a screenshot I took after repair: (Click image to full size, and you'll see the pixles) dcs.log -

like a checkerboard in variants of yellow. Is this just on my rig, or a know thing? -

As I understand it, a multicore CPU has a main core. Heavy programs seek to use it, because it is faster than the rest. On my system, I found that during problematic performance periods, my Core#4 was maxed out: 100% usage. There was a clear correlation between high stress on that core and a bad flying experience. It was easy to see that piserver.exe was going kinda rogue at times, AND using that same core. I mentioned the symptoms in an earlier thread before I knew what caused it with: "Sometimes DCS wakes up on the wrong foot/side of its bed." (or smth. like that) It was not problematic on every "session" but so often, I was hesitant to even start DCS. Now it is stable, and beautiful, and best of all: It stays that way. (By the way: I'm considering a Buttkicker, but I'm on the 2nd floor, and I wonder if it makes any noise downstairs?)

Yer very welcome, mate! (Is that "Marshall" as opposed to "Fender"?)
-
Then this tip is not for you. There are a lot of other people seeking better performance. I also thought that was obvious.
-
No more max out of CPU. I thought that was obvious.

The "pi_server.exe" use a lot of CPU. Often as much as 20% And on my PC it uses core#4 -same as main core for DCS. This caused my CPU to max in almost all my DCS sessions. So I re-installed process lasso, and made sure pi_server.exe has no access to this core. Voila!
-
Latest, and latest! I allways install updates. And one more thing: I use process lasso to keep the "Pi_server.exe" away from my core#4 which is the DCS' main CPU core. If they share, the core will (often) max out.

Yes. In DCS settings. I currently have the best graphics AND perfomance ever! I'm not using DLSS. I shall try to post more of my settings later, but here are nVidia settings for now: null Pimax play settings. (I use M'bucchias Quadviews) GPU upscaling off! null null

Thx! :) Will not be necessary. In all fairness, I'm in such a good place atm. with the Pimax and DCS, I need not experiment, Performance is great, graphics are stunning, and these days my mood is accordingly a happy one.

Thank you! I didn't know that. Never testet Desktop view, but I just tested it, and it is exactly what I wanted. -There all the time. Edit: Good lord it was not; DCS started in a window within desktop view. My PC grinding to a halt. And there was no way to end DV, but to exit pimax play. I'm never doing that again..
