  1. ** Edit ** I just read back a few pages and found the answer to the question below.... I just got the TOG dedicated server updated to 1.2.0 and installed servman 3.01RC1 and seems like when players join, the server dosnt unpause. Is this the same as your experience emfan? Any ideas guys or anyone else getting this issue? For those wondering also, Thanks Macross
  2. Thanks mate.... that post got me on the right track to find the issue. I was copying the game directory and working directory from the shortcut icon on the desktop which has " " around the path as it had spaces in it. I removed these from the .ahk script and it started working streight away. Yes agree that this would make a good thread all on its own for others trying to automate and run a dedicated server. Perhaps i will pull all this info together and post under its own topic.... giving full kudos to Nomdeplum of coarse!!!!
  3. Thanks nomdeplume for sharing... i have had a play around with your .ahk script and it looks promising... but when i modify it and point it to my install directory it opens the dcs.exe file and then closes it agian after a few seconds. I am thinking its some kind of permissions issue or perhaps part of the loop in the start of the script. did you have this problem when deploying on your system?
  4. Are you able to share the script that you use to restart the server and or the method of checking its alive. I have tried to use some monitoring software that polls the game port, 10308 but i have found that the game can be crashed and in a "DCS.exe is not responding" windows error state, but im still able to telnet to the game port on 10308 and get a response. So my monitoring sotware (N-Able) couldnt detect the server was crashed. Also, how do you automate a map to start automaticly using scripts.. is this possible???? Thanks in advance for any help with these issues. I have been running The Older Gamers BS1 and BS2 servers for a couple of years and never had so much trouble trying to keep the server running.
  5. Nato calls it the Kamov Ka-50 Hokum. I think black shark is better than werewolf.... werewolf makes me think of those stupid teenie movies for some reason.
  6. Thanks Dragon, I have had reports of the same thing with A10C pilots on our server also running your maps.... waiting patiently for an updated release!!!! your maps are awesome mate... well done!!!!
  7. Here is a screen shot of HUD issue that Ghoull is refering too. I am running the BS2 server and he is joining from A10C and gets this HUD distortion. This is not wind drift or loadout related.
  8. We did some testing tonight and this is definatley an issue when Warthog game players join a BS2 game server. I believe it is a bug that needs to be investigated. Will post in the appropriate forum.
  9. I noticed this also.... wonder if its an error in values or perhaps a correction?
  10. Hi guys, I am running a BS2 server for The Older Gamers. I have had one of our members and also a random player indicate that they have a strange HUD issue when playing on our server. When their view is centered and trackIR is as well, the HUD appears to be off centre and you can only see about 50% of it. See screen shot. Is this a server side issue or player settings issue?
  11. Had a strange issue on our new BS2 server last night. I was looking around in external view from a black Shark,(admiring new graphics) and saw an A10C flying across my FOV low and slow. I jumped into cockpit view To see if I could rip off a vickers at him. But from the cockpit view I couldn't see him. Quickly switched between externals and cockpit and could clearly see him from outside, but not from inside. I don't think this was a ping or latency issue, and was definatley not a line of site issue. He was right there in front of my shark at about 500m altitude and 2km range.... Visible in externals, and invisible from inside the cockpit. Is this a bug or compatibility issue between A10C and BS2? Cheers
  12. you would need to configure different ports for the two games, but i would say yes it would be fine as long as the box has the grunt to do it.
  13. Is Servman v3 suitable for BS2 installations? I have it running but server crashed once today so far. My BS1 server used to crash from time to time every few days but not as quickly as BS2 did.
  14. I have a four monitor setup and span three 1920x1080 with the game and then put the Shkval on the fourth (yet to get this working in BS2). I remember modifying a .lua file for BS1 that enabled you to zoom out further as when spanning three monitors the default setting on the furthest possible zoom out has your nose pressed against the HUD. Does anyone know where that setting is in the BS2 .lua files.... im hunting and if i find it i will post back.
  15. In this video which im sure everyone has seen a thousand times, you can hear the trimmer in action as the pilot takes off and flys to the little test area to do some aerobatics for his mate on the ground. (cant seem to get imbedded video to work :( ) Interestingly once at about 3:32 he calls out something in Russian (would love to know what he says) and then proceeds with his manuvers. During the stall turns and other manuvers, i dont hear the trimmer in action any longer. Like he has switched off the AP channels to be able to flick the air frame around with more agility. Also, if this picture is correct and the trimmer button is placed on the cyclic as shown, then i dont see him touch the trimmer once during his display in the video posted by EtherealN. Can anyone confirm which button on the cyclic is the actual trimmer control?
  16. The Older Gamers Dedicated server runs a map called Urban Battle, and its great for head to head action. In close quarters against another aircraft, you are at a distinct dissadvantage with AP channels on if your opponent is flying with them dissengaged... As KosPilot puts it... its like a school bus vs a sports car. If you can keep the stand off, all well and good, but if the enemy closes onto your position, you may as well eject for all the good you can do to manuver the slugish AP channel boud Black Shark.
  17. Interesting subject. I have seen it stated many times that actual russian pilots would be in all sorts of trouble if found to be flying without AP... but i find this hard to believe. If, as stated, that the machine was damaged, and Hydrolics failed and all AP channels were lost, is the pilot supposed to fumble for the first time in an aircraft that he suddenly dosnt know how to fly? I tend to use both on and off. Off when transitioning from point to point in order to be able to manuver with great agility. Then when stationary behind cover and preparing for targeting i switch on AP's to help steady while i concerntrate on other systems. Personaly i think this is the most realistic mix that would be adopted. Flying the shark without AP's on is like running in bare feet compared to gum boots filled with water. :) Im with you KosPilot... i think that you need to use both in order to operate effectivly and realisticly.
  18. Ive lost those 11 mins and will never get them back.... What is this about? i have missed the point i think.
  19. I use three screens and have the same issue where the ABRIS takes up only half of the third monitor. Not found a fix for this yet but am investigating if there is something that can be done.
  20. Make sure the clock on your computer hasnt gone to the default BIOS setting of 2000 or something like that. Might be causing authentication issues.
  21. Thanks Kes, im going to give your profile a shot tonight.
  22. Serial # 04533 Location: Brisbane Australia looks like the Aus stock is starting to hit the shelves :D
  23. I run a dedicated server and have also had a couple of people complaining about this. We have had several of us in game and playing fine. Then a particular user will join and the game will be paused only in his session... every strange. I have poped into the server and done as you suggested, and paused and unpaused the server. As you say sometimes this kicks him, but other times it dosnt unpause his game at all??? Anyone got any other suggestions as to what might be causing this?
  24. Cheers Grimes. Yeah that is a bit of a pain. I know you used to be albe to do it in IL2 just by ticking a box. I will have to sit down and get serverman going... dosnt look to hard... just a matter of finding the time. Thanks for the info.
  25. Thanks Panzertard. I didnt see any reference to port 10307 UDP being blocked. I opened it just in case. I think in the end it may have been a flakey firewall rull that was casuing the issue. I had a pretty granular exception to allow traffice to the DMZ that the server sits in. I have broadened it slightly (allow 10308 from *any) and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for your help. Cheers Macross
