Did you change the launch method? I had a similar issue after trying to use SteamVR, the shortcut with the - -force_OpenXR argument caused a crash. SteamVR had messed up the dll-s. I managed to clean that up but not quite to get a good performance. Same headset, 5800x (no 3d) and ram but AMD GPU.

Another confused reply, I'm not even sure it's the right thread. I recently got my Reverb G2. This Saturday, with basically default settings and no intervention in Openxr I had 40-50 fps in free flight in Syria. Yesterday I couldn't get more than 30 fps, regardless of map. I tried Open composite, SteamVR (which doesn't work at all and messed up my dll's) and native Openxr. Not sure it's me messing with some settings or the last update, I'm pretty clueless at this point. I have disabled motion reprojection, in-game settings don't seem to change much. I have a 5800x and 6900xt, 32 Gigs of RAM until I have time to install more.

Can't really compare to the Warthog, I never had one. I haven't tried any helicopters yet, still, I really like my F-16 throttle. The travel is fairly long, apparently quite close to the real thing. The detents are very satisfying, with only downside being that if you fly an afterburner-less plane (like the Harrier or the L-39) you either have a meaningless detent or have to recalibrate the axis. Also, the detent plate has to be adjusted carefully. The handle is fairly heavy, which feels great but in can move y it's weight if you don't put enough friction, if you put too much, c there can be some stiction. Overall, it feels much better than the Hornet handle (I tried my brother's unit) although the button layout of the Hornet would probably suit my Mirage better...

Since I've completed my PC and finally got to fly DCS, I've been thinking about eventually moving to VR. I sort of assumed I was going to get myself a Reverb G2 at some point, but as I started to think of it more seriously, they seem to be out of stock just about everywhere... So, I could rush to get a Reverb for 700-750 euros, try to hunt a used one, but no guarantee of finding a less expensive one as HP seems to be bailing out of the VR market... Or downgrade to the Quest, or else go with the Pico. Any advice? I've watched some reviews but they are rarely made with flight sims in mind, I don't think I'd be using the vr rig for anything else as I've never been much of a gamer and don't have that much free time. I have a Ryzen 5800X, a Radeon RX6900XT, 32 GB of RAM (3200MHz CL16); an upgrade to 64 GB is waiting to be installed.

Great find! I was wondering about the export Mirages and their lasing capability. I wish we could fly those in the sim.

Ok, found that in previous threads. Displacing the second AWACS helped. I could therefore take off and get killed by a manpad. -
This is all purely theoretical since they said they weren't making any new variant but I think I'd go for an export variant, c either the new and shiny 2000-5Mk2 or even the old - H that got specialized in precision strike in Indian AF. As this is not happening... Just give us the Étendard! Sidenote, even if rhey are not allowed to release it to the public, I'd be curious to have a confirmation that a military-only DCS - 5 exists. I guess it does, what would be the point of the 2000C sim for the AdA since their final retirement?

I'm stuck behind the Enfield flight that wouldn't take-off. I tried getting around it but my wingman would not follow me. I found a fimilar issue that someone had with the mission 7 back in 2.5; a workarount was apparently to wait for other flights to take off before doing the radio check. Tried that, doesn't work. Also, script does start since I do hear the dialogue between my character and Teeter. Othet than that, I've loved the experience so far!

As far as I know, screws are compatible with Warthog supprots. I for sure use one (the Virpil one to be precise, and I would recommend Monstertech instead, it's too high and too far back for my liking but it's a different topic). However, I could only use two screws out of four, the other two being taken by the F-16 detents plate.

Thanks for the reply! I found thit thread from the VKB support forum: http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4776 I tried swapping the bolts between the two connections. I didn't have much time to test but it seems to work much better. Either the bolt that came with my extension was weaker, or I inadvertantly swapped them when mounting. I'll ss if it holds in time. -
I'm using a Gunfighter III with the MCG Pro and the 200 mm extension, all mounted on the long version of the Monstertech mount. The base would regularly (up to several times per flight) loose contact with the handle, so that the buttons cease to work and the green light on the BlackBox blinks. I have to loosen the mounting screw, wiggle the connection and re-tighten, hoping not do disconnect the two in the process. The culprit seems to always be the connector between the base and the extension, not the one between the handle and the extension. Besides cleaning any eventual oxidation (maybe I should do tham more thoroughly, I obviously tried casually wiping the connectors) or giving up on the long stick, any ideas on how to make it reliable?

Yet another noobish question: I am learning the Mirage, I'm generally new to DCS, I've been training with the JF-17 and grinding through the Kursant campaign in the L-39 previously. I was wandering if there were a way to use the HSI of the Mirage (or any other advanced aircraft, for that matter) as the basic gyro plate ("conservateur de cap"). For example, in the Albatros (or a Cessna, it's that simple), I'd dial the heading to follow for the visual low-level nav or the landing course for a visual pattern. It's simple but helpful. In the Mirage I figure I could use the Route Désirée feature but it's somewhat over-complicated, and I cant't do that in any other modern jet

Thanks! It was actually simple, I just had to bring the slider all the way down and bind to Engine Cutoff Unlock both the JOY_BTN_30 and Off_JOY_BTN_30 -

May I hijack the topic for a noobish question? I'm learning the Mirage and I've been struggling with the engine shuting off whet throttled too far back, I also have to push the throttle fairly far forward during the startup procedure. On the other hand, the PC seems well calibrated with my physical detent. I'm using the Winwing Orion throttle with the F-16 handle. So I have to change settings in the Special Menu? Or just use the curve so that my handle in the Idle position would mean some more % (about what is needed for the engine to stay at about 50% thrust?) -
I don't try to fiddle with trim in a turn but wondered if it wouldn't be easier if I entered the turn with a correctly trimmed plane. I managed to trim it in the quick action mission (I wanted to practice without getting kicked off the plane by the IP and skip the taxiing). I don't really have time for that in the campaign mission. I tried to fly ba the variometer, I think my free patterns got slightly better but still not enough. Also, I theoretically should be looking outside and only glancing at the panel, instead of that I keep staring at the instruments.

So here I am struggling. After 10 years away from simming that is not surprising but still. I got the L-39, the JF-17 and the Kursant campaign as a "starter pack". I already passed once the first mission but then the saved games file got corrupted and so I am back at struggling to do the basic pattern. I manage to keep speed and altitude constant in straight flight but I can't get the right amount of back pressure to keep level in a turn and when the instructor yells at me (Altitude 200!) I have tocmoye the stick a lot, then overcorrect. I tried trimming the aircraft, but it seems to be pitching down no matter what I do with the trimmer. I did slightly better with curves on both stick axes (although Chuck's Guide says I don't need them) but I feel with a long stick (I have a vkb Gunfighter with 20cm extension) I shouldn't be needing this. Any tips on getting the basics right besides "Study more and we will try again tomorrow"?

I'd take those, if you don't mind! I don't have the MiG-21 yet but it definitely is one of the planes I would definitely like to fly and I spent first 17 years of my life in Poland. I've tried to find some good testimonials in Polish but I didn't find that much. A great description of a mock-fight between à Polish MiG-21 and two German Tornados in the '90s, a vague account of the sort of scripted-dogfight tactics they tried to develop after Bekaa Valley made everyone aware of the large furballs, and a rather confuse memoir of a pilot named Mizera (Józef?) which features some anecdotes about the Pencils. I picked the English translated Flight Manual for the 21Bis but one thing it is lacking are tactics (obviously) and bombing tables. Also, I gather from the Kursant campaign that Eastern practice was to overfly the targer and then execute a timed half-loop to place oneself in the right spot. Still, overflying the target and turning back sounds like a good way to get killed... I know there is a memoir book by a Hungarian cold-war pilot but haven't read it, quite a few reviews criticize the style as very bland. You may also want to check the Czech (sorry) Youtube channel called O letani. Basically, it is a sort of Czech Aircrew interview, some episodes are subtitled. Both Vaclav Vasek and the MiG-23 pilot they interviewed had flown the 21 before.

Thanks for the great advice! I was actually leaing that way and might have pulled the trigger earlier if fot for all the people around telling me how you ca't go back after trying the ultrawide. I just ordered a LG 32GP850-B which was one of my first picks and actually the least expensive. It will be largely enough to get me started and I would; eventually, expand. But you make me wonder: I haven't really considered large screens and tvs, I thould I would rather, civil servant's pay permitting, move to VR.

Oh well. I didn'r really consider 4k as out of my budget but now I'm thinking of it. Basically, this means either the BenQ PD3200U, apparently a great monitor for productivity with outstanding colour accuracy, however it doesn't support FreeSync and, more importantly, stretches my budget by another 200 € at least; or one of the LGs, 32UN650 or 32UN880. The mount seems to be the main difference. They are more affordable but have less precise colours. Is the benefit from 4k worth the compromises in price, colour or framerate? So, I still dont't know what to buy but here's my understanding: 32 inch 16:9 has advantage in surface, vertical FOV, prince, in-game support; it's better in dogfight. Its drawbacks are horizontal FOV and pixel density 34 inch 21:9 gives better horizontal FOV, looks fancy and is transformative for some poeople, might be better for productivity as it allows for three full windows in a row; might be better during refueling and landing because of peripheral vision. As drawbacks, it's pricier at equivalent specs, has less vertical FOV and actual real estate. Also, I've been thinking of stacking a future big 34 inch ultrawide and my existing small 25 inch ultrawide and stitching them together in a multi-monitor setup (basically, when looking traight ahead, the smaller screen would be showing the instruments panel). But I'm reluctant at making my life that complicated.

Thanks! Well, my experience might have been extensive, it's really old and sims have changed since the times of my flying. I'm pretty sure I'll have to re-learn everything, even if I've done some ground school. The Hornet has always seemed very complicated to me (might have to bo with the fact that Jane's Super Hornet had defeated me back in the day, I ended up going WWII). I was thinking of giving myself some training in a simpler, older aircraft, perhaps even doing the Kursant campaign on L-39, before moving to someting more modern.

Hi all, Here I am completing my rig I've been assembling for two years or so. So far, I have all the pieces of the computer, with a Ryzen 5800X, a Radeon RX6900XT, 32 GB of RAM (3200MHz CL16) and a 2TB M.2 PCIe3 disc (only one for Windows and games, but there is another one plus a HDD on its way for productivity, in Linux). I also have the controllers, bus still lacking a serious monitor. So far I've been using my old working laptop with an LG 25 inch UW display hooked. It's smallish and slow so I'm definitely planning on a larger monitor. I am hesitating between a 32 inch 16:9 one for more vertical space and general real estate (probably an LG 32GP850-B or a Gigabyte M32Q) or a 34 inch ultrawide (possibly the Huawei MateView GT or a Gigabyte M34WQ, or a LG 34WN750-B). I'm told ultrawide is a transformative experience and for work it may be a great addition, but how about immersion in DCS? Should I rather seek more vertical space for cockpit and vertical scanning in dogfights? Thqnks for advice.

Hi all, I'm finally coming to DCS after years of watching it from the ground. I grew smelling kerosene since my father worked as airline station manager. I used to play flight sims as soon as we had a computer, I have very fond memories of me as a kid, playing Microprose F-117 (that was already old back then), me just holding the stick and my father, as "RIO"; pressing all the buttons. Later, I played Jane's WWII Fighters, and then, during my high school years, I almost exclusively played Sturmovik. Then came my student years and I no longer had a computer capable of running any sim. Well, until now, I've been collecting hardware for two years and my PhD is finished, I am joining the sim I've been watching for 10 years.
