  1. Reviving this thread: I've been trying to do this mission. I'm fresh out of the training missions on the Harrier. The vertical take-off is surprisingly difficult, the plane would barely lift off the pad, no way to establish a hover at 50 ft and then transition, I have to start transitioning uncomfortably close to the ground. Also, what is the good tactical approach here? I suppose I have to go back to the pad? I tried going back to the airfield and come back with a heavy aircraft but a lot of bad this gs happened when I was away.
  2. Thanks! That makes sense.
  3. I don't know to what extent this applies to the MiG-21 since the tables come from the Su-7. Still, I hope this may be of use. The Czech O letani, sort of Czech-language Aircrew interview, just dropped an interview with a Su-7 pilot. I don't understand much of what they say as I don't speak Czech and you can only guess so much, there probably will eventually be English subtitles but that takes time. Anyway, around 1:10:50 you see some bombing tables, attack profiles and bombing range circuit diagrams.
  4. I know the problem. I have the cutoff mapped to the "button" activated when you put the throttle in the cutoff position (I have the F-16 handle). I have to be careful when starting up, at first I push the throttle frankly, ther reduce it very gradually, sometimes I have to relight the engine. Once I have been able to put the thadle against the idle stop, I'm good for the flight. Still, this is annoying, if anybody has a real solution, I'd love to hear it.
  5. Jumping on this topic for a different question. Is my understanding right that the grips were upgraded also? I was tempted to upgrade from the MCG Pro to the Ultimate. The standalone grips are still Mk III (connector rev B), so if I upgrade the base with an upgrade kit, a standalone grip wouldn't be compatible anymore? If so, I'd better wait for the update, then look for the grip at some point further.
  6. I don't have the STECS but am watching it carefully. I really like the four encoders on my Winwing throttle base, I sue them as Comms 1, Commes 2, Baro and courseline (in the Harrier)/course bug (L-39); in the Mirage I have 2 of them bound to the HSI knobs, one for baro and one for the green radio. I too am a little concerned for the loss of the encoders. I'd also like some additional levers (think nozzles in the Harrier, maybe wingsweep, maybe piston engine controls).
  7. Thanks for the advice, I stumbled in the same issue as I was going through the training and couldn't see a thing through the pod (in vr, Reverb G2)
  8. That's for sure. Still, it's hard to understand as it is a seriously old radar. I've heard French Mod was paranoid but even they didn't mind the RDI radar, and that one was able of guiding missiles. I get there is some common genealogy between the Tornado ADV and the Typhoon, but the FRS1 is way older.
  9. Their website seems down... I would love to see this project succeed even if I probably wouldn't be among the first buyers.
  10. Pretty much the title. I think I'd be (some day, bank permitting) looking to get the MFSSB base. I'don't already have a WW grip but I do have the throttle. I don't get why there is nothing between the mfssb base alone and the whole setup...
  11. Disappointed to read your disappointment. Would you still recommend this panel? And if not, do you see a viable alternative? I know about the Virpil's one, but it's significantly more expensive and is mostly just buttons. Now, if I take it, I wonder about a couple of things. Did you try to moint int on top of sa Monstertech support? More minor stuff. I like the T-shaped switch but I'd like to use it rather as the water injection switch in the Harrier, so I'd need it to be a 3-position. Is it possible to swap switch endings (don't know how you call them, basically keycaps for switches)?
  12. I completely missed that, and that' s bad. I'd have thought something as old as the Falklands-era FRS1 should not be a problem for the MoD... Now, I'd gladly take a RAF Gr. 3, actually one of my very favorite aviation books is about Gr. 3s in the Falkland, but that clearly is not the iconic fighter of that conflict. All that assuming that there is a long-term aim to picture the historical Falkland conflict, of course, and that would also require the opposition.
  13. So... How close will the F1M be to the French F1CT? I know they are different developments but the CT was also a later mod geared towards the air to ground, with one of the cannons replaced by a telemeter. As far as I remember, the round scope was also replaced by a more modern screen (that stayed on the right side of the dashboard) and a new panel was inserted below the HUD. I wonder to what extent it could be considered as a viable stand-in for the CT in scenarios such as French deployments in Africa or in Afghanistan (where they would be paired with the 2000D and its pod... that we don't have either).
  14. In case anybody is still wondering about this: in my case, the mission works. However, in all training missions, if moving to NAV mode is a trigger, I have no click on the button with the mouse, using the HOTAS command I bound switches the HUD but the mission doesn't see it.
  15. Honestly, I was expecting that! It wouldn't make much sense for the AdA to keep training their Aircrew on a simulator of the 2000C once the C was retired. Who knows, maybe with the upgrade program for the 2000D (they are getting at least a a/a capable radar and a gun pod) we could get the old D variant at some point?
  16. I wiped clean the drivers, reinstalled both the drivers and DCS and for one session it seemed to be working fine. I now have the same crash again. My GPU seems to go quite high in temp, vram is not very loaded but speed maxes, if this can help. dcs.log-20230621-111419.zip dcs.log-20230621-105411.zip
  17. Same here. I've been fighting the computeOptimalBarriers issue, installed the last dcs patch (as rolling back didn't work) and tried single thread, reported to be immune from the other issue. Had a crash but the logs indicates this Access violation issue. Full AMD rig (5800X, 6900XT, 64 GB RAM), freshly updated drivers. Never tried overclocking (nor underclocking). Previously DCS ran fairly stable. I don't do much else an this computer as all my work is done in Linux (same machine but it lives on a different physical disk). Not much other gaming either, and mostly really ancient games. DxDiag.txt dcs.log-20230620-151235.zip
  18. A nice case of predestinatin by name. Great pic, aside from that. Always happy to see red birds in the making.
  19. I've been learning the Harrier and I love this plane. Managing the first successful AAR was an extremely satisfying moment, thanks Deephack's tutorial! I stumbled on a series of interviews with an Italian Harrier pilot. In one of the videos, (about 17 minutes into the video) he recalls an episode of his exchange tour with the USMC, when he was flying as a lead with a junior Marine pilot who struggled with the refueling. At some point, they decide to switch refueling pods since, as he explains, it is much esaier to refuel from the right pod as there are more references when on is looking at the basket... No that's disturbing. Every single sim tutorial AND pilot testimonial I've seen said you should never look at the basket and I certainly went into PIO when tempted to glance at the basket and this guy (who seems to know a bit about flying the Harrier) sounds like he'd do the exact opposite!
  20. Ok, will do that. As for reproducing the issue, it seems difficult, I had it occur on different platforms (AV-8B and Mirage) and maps (Caucasus and Nttr), in training and free flight.
  21. Dang. I was about to rollback to that version following your post. Edit: Here's the crash log for my last trial yesterday, reverted to the older version and in single thread. It seems that the game held slightly longer time before craching but it didn't exceed 15 minutes. Edit 2: Tried to revert to the last version free of the issue reported earlier in this thread, (2.8.3.someting), it is not available anymore. dcs.log-20230617-230511.zip
  22. Thanks! So, should I rollback to the version indicated by Blutpumpe? Or is there any other recommended action? According to the thread you've linked, this ComputOptilalBoundaries issue has been around for a while
  23. Hello, I seem to have the same issue, random crashes after several minutes of normal running. I have an AMD rig with 5800X and 6900XT, 64Go RAM, Windows 11, Reverb G2. I just updated DSC beta after some time away from the sim. dcs.log-20230617-134629.zip
  24. Great find! I read a collection of testimonials from French fighter pilots, many of whom had flown the F1 at some point. They clearly say at one point that the only relevant armament in their African operations was the cannon, they would strafe and very rarely drop bombs. For more sophisticated weapons there seems to have been a hiatus between the retirement of the Jag and the arrival of the 2000Dn then the Rafale. Also, they apparently had some incredibly scenic views in Chad. Flying fighter jets IN a volcanic crater sounds otherwoldly.
  25. If my memory is good, they actually intended to do the GR5 and then switched to the American AV-8B NA due to data availability so I'm not optimistic. I suspect the AV-8B+ would be more likely (and I'd love to fly it in Italian colours).
