I've seen some discussion on this before, but, as a practical matter, exactly how should i be setting my altimeter when doing a ramp start? Seems that in multiplayer the altitudes in the TAD are always off by over 1000 feet as compared to hud/altimeter readings whether i leave the setting alone, or set it to reflect the airbase altitude. Oddly, this doesn't seem to be the case in single player.

Hi Bramage - we flew together at the 1st VFW a bunch of times. PM me please.

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for serious/semi-serious simmers who:
Enjoy training a lot (combat formation flying, proper weapon delivery tactics, comms)
Use trackir
Are willing to use TARS
Like a great deal of realism, but can stay loose and have fun at the same time
Are able to fly at least twice a week sometime between 1600-2100 Eastern Standard Time.
Think DCS:Warthog is an incredible sim and want to join like-minded pilots in learning as much as they can about it.
I'm now flying with some great guys from Europe, but we're having a rough time finding time to fly together, so I'd like to expand our group to include some locals if possible.
If interested, please PM.
Regards,
Bull

Is there a way to change the default brightness setting for the TGP and Mav displays? Seems they are by default quite a bit darker than in any past version, especially the Mav display, and I find i've got to constantly adjust the brightness when i never have before.
-
Some other differences I've noticed are a great deal more haze added which makes it tough to pick out images on the TGP and also gives the terrain a washed out, lifeless look once you're over 6,000 ft or so, and unless I put my antialiasing ridiculously high, I get quite a lot of terrain/object flickering that i've never gotten before. What a roller coaster ride this sim has been.
-
I got a second update today as well, Mike. We share idle hopes. :)
-
Definitely more hazy, and the terrain colors a bit more washed out looking. The effect seems to be exaggerated on TGP display. Personally, I liked it better before the update.
-
adding 'UPDATE' at the end of the string in the shortcut target did the trick. Thanks, Orl

That's a fair point Kuky, but i think perhaps the better way to approach things is that new graphics features should be made selectable by user instead of foisted upon those without the necessary processing power.
-
I was getting that with cbu-87's, but not 97's. Same for you?
-
I would also try setting your shadows to high. Counterintuitive yes, but its helped many.
-
Peter: Is there a way to adjust the text size to somewhere between default and your mod? As Badger said above, it's a bit cluttered (for my resolution anyway) and just a bit smaller would really do the trick.
-
Atalia: I've been with DCS A-10 since the beginning, and this latest version is the first to give me this kind of problem. I don't have this problem with anything else so i doubt it's got anything to do with my Vid card.
And yes, I do have A-10 on the ramdisk. Definitely makes things smoother.
-
Hi Slayer, I've had my settings even higher than those you are suggesting and by 8x supersample, all i'm doing is eating up FPS with no real reduction in flickering.
-
OK, this last attempt did not eliminate the flickering I'm having. I've tried older drivers too from back when i didn't have this problem and that's not doing it either. Thanks for all the help just the same.
-
Ty Zmey, i will try this today.
-
Ace, I'm aware of the cloud flicker issue and the various fixes for it. I've already gone down that road. Thanks just the same.
Something I have noticed is that the flickering seems to diminish a lot when i pause trackir. Not sure what the connection might be. Anyone else have an idea?
-
thanks for your response Distiler, but neither of those settings have any effect for me, regardless of what they are set to.
-
Yes, Yoyo. Allowing antialiasing to be controlled by the program does improve it, but nothing close to how good it's looked in past versions.
-
Hi, I'm getting some pretty bad shimmering of the terrain (trees especially) and in the cockpit (straight lines seem to undulate). I've used all sim settings as well as every setting in Nvidia Inspector for antialiasing with no luck. Any ideas?
-
Thanks for going to all this trouble, Lobo. You're a credit to the community.

Check the size of the missions you've been joining lately. Sound files and the like added to missions may greatly increase load times. Personally, I've not noticed any general increase in loading times in MP. Are you sure nothing's going on with your net connection? Firewall issue or some such?

nope just cant gte this to work i wanted to create a template 8* t80 and 1 *shilka. The manual is crap
Page 184 in the GUI manual explains how to do this very clearly, and step by step.
Altimeter setting
in DCS: A-10C Warthog

As stated above, I've already tried setting it to the AB elevation.
