Hi gents,
Tried the f15e for the first time yesterday, I went for some bindings and for a full cold and dark procedure and most of the ( few but well done training missions ) here some questions / observations. ( sorry if some questions have been posted already, i went through this forum once or twice but can’t remember all.
- first and foremost I playing VR and the f15e is the heaviest ( vr/computer perfo wise) a/c I had ever experienced… i am used to play with f15c, f5, mig21, f14 and f16c and the experience was smooth. Here with same config and settings that was unplayable. I had to basically put everything to minimum to be able to have a smooth experience, even for cold and dark sequence. I am wondering how it can be on heavy servers like tti or blue flag.
- I got as well the align hold couple of time ( even tho I was respecting the step of the checklist - canopy clsd - brake hold - etc… ) I found out that : i was pre programming my mpd/mpcd for a/a , a/g and nav master mode as well as my 3 pages per screen and reviewing/checking it by snapping the castle switch. Doing that bring input on the flight controls surfaces and made them move. So it screws the process and go to hold. If I am not touching the stick at all it goes fine. Same if I go on stored mode for fast align. —> question here : can you fast align on MP servers? How is the accuracy degradation over time? Do we have in the system a page where we can find the accuracy? Like on my IRL aircraft I have a nav page where I can see the drift of my 3 ins in nm over time and when a certain limit is exceeded ( and not updated by gps position, because of spoofing or jamming for example ) i got an error message and then act accordingly.

- Can we remove the WSO? In the training mission I noticed that the GIB is not there and I like it. I know we should fly with a wso but as far as there is no integration like Jester, it’s just dead weight ( btw if we can remove it, is it shown in the a/c mass and balance, with all the gear it’s an easy 200 pounds saved ). Further more in vr he ( or she, af 21st century…) seems glocked and it annoy me a lot, it breaks the immersion to see someone static. Flew a lot with GIB and I am biased as dcs is all about the experience , I would like to tailor it to my taste/needs.
- I find the brightness of the 2 mpd very dim, even at max level. I know they emulated crt’s but flew with some good old crt and they are way much more brighter irl. If I compare it to the f15c it is really different. I found really important with the radar, as I lowered my resolution with the current max brightness i am not able to read the altitude next to the track file. Bottom line, max brightness during day is less than a irl screen. Should it be in bug report?
- Speed of the antenna tilt and tdc : I found the speed of the antenna tilt slower than an IRL mechanical radar dish. Is it like this in the mudhen or can I change the ´sensitivity’ via the controls mapping?
- Stuck on the training mission with a/a missiles employment. I bound controls to cycle loop through guns srm mrm but I don’t know how to cycle between the aim7 and aim120. On the armt panel submenu I see is by default the right forward station on sby but as soon as I cycle the a/a radar screen popup iso the armt panel.
- Is there a way the remove the pylons on the cft’s? Via ME I found that the center line pylon and wing pylons can be removed but even not loaded with bomb i see all those draggy stations along the aircraft.
