  1. This is GREAT!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this and share it, I really appreciate it.
  2. I asked this question on the PC Gamer forums but I thought it would be prudent to ask here as well as the main focus of my gaming is DCS World. For about the last 10 years I have been gaming on a PC exclusively. Prior to that it was about 70 -30 ratio console to PC. The reason for the majority console play is that I played mostly BF and some racing games. Then I found MMOs like WoTs and War Thunder and completely abandoned the console. About a month ago I got the itch to play some racing games and decided I would get a PS5 so I could play GT7. When I got the PS5 I decided I would get a "gaming" TV as well. The only one I could find locally was a Samsung cu7000 43 inch at Best Buy. From what I could see it was considered a "gaming" TV, or one that was favorable for gaming. Being that I've played a PC exclusively for so long I sit at my desk and play the PS5 just like I would my PC. So when I play my PC I play on a Dell 32 inch 4k gaming monitor, G3223Q. And when I play my console I play on the TV which is also 4k. I'm wondering if it would just be better to use one monitor/TV for both. Right now about 70% of my gaming is DCS World and when using my HOTAS it moves me a little further from the viewing source. Therefore the TV and increased "real estate" would be nice. But I know right out of the gate I would be sacrificing FPS. Would it be worth it? What else should I consider? What would you do? Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated. Just FYI, here is my PC specs. AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 32 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Windows 11
  3. Yeah, I see NAV is the default mode, no button necessary. I just saw on the attached button layout that whoever made it assigned the A/A Mode & A/G Mode to his Stick and I was just curious where it was. I couldn't find it. Providing me how it is referred to in the controls menu (ICP-Main) is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for your help!!
  4. During the last sale I bought the F-16 and I've been taking my time getting it set up and really try to get it the way I want it. Luckily I found a map layout of the F-16 that I really liked for my HOTAS, the Virpil Alpha stick and the CM3 throttle. As I said, I have it just about how I want it but I can't find several key binds, the ability to switch between NAV mode and the A/A or A/G modes. I looked and looked and did not see them. Have I overlooked them? I feel like that at least had to be bindable to the HOTAS at one point in time because its on the map layout I found. Any help would be appreciated. Virpil Layout F-16 PDF.pdf
  5. About 6 months or so ago I started a thread about how I used a trackball when playing flight sims and how they are more ergonomic when using a HOTAS. As I stated then I have been using a trackball for general PC use for more than 20 years, and I had even tried using them for gaming. Honestly, I was surprised how many members of the forum were saying the used one as well. Now I have been thinking about the next step. I'm always trying to find ways to improve my experience and make my HOTAS and input set more intuitive. That being said I've thought about using a handheld trackball mouse. Something like this: I'm always having to reach to use the "real estate" that my trackball sits on. This gets me out of position and makes it harder to control my HOTAS. Most importantly, it get my head tracker out of position and I'm sometimes left with a skewed view. I'm thinking this may really help, as I won't have to alter my body position and I will not have to rely on a surface to rest the trackball on. Anyone tried anything similar to this? Will it be as helpful as I'm thinking? Please share any experience you have . Thanks.
  6. Someone that I have found recently and really enjoy is Tricker. I think he has some great tutorials as well.
  7. Not at all. Just clarifying where I was misunderstood. Please show me in the post you quoted where I appear not to be calm or have an attitude. I thought it was a very clear and concise explanation of our misunderstanding.
  8. The fact that Apple products are usually not conducive for gaming with a Windows based pc was addressed in previous response so I didn't feel the need to address that. I was just stating independent of that fact, the price point is kind of high for the average user. As far as "PC gamer", if you thought I was referring to the magazine I wasn't. It was meant in the general sense. That's why I used the lower case "g". Since we were talking about Apple I thought it was important to distinguish between the few people that game on Apple and those that game on PC, so I used PC gamer. As in an individual.
  9. I never said it was. Did you read the thread?
  10. I'm not so sure. Initially Apple was targeting the sale of 3M within the first year of release. Now after the announcement the projected sales are expected to be 150,000. 150,000 with be considered a failure. 16 years ago, people spent days in lines around the block to buy iPhones. Apple is announcing a new gadget today, and no one seems to care. (yahoo.com)
  11. $3500 has to be a deal breaker for the vast majority of the PC gamer market, including DCS. For that amount you can get an outstanding gaming PC. If you are the average PC gamer/DCS player I just don't see that Apple as an option. I'm not sure what they are thinking with that price point.

    Bahrain

Exactly Yeah I think to a few people who posted before you my point flew a little over their head. I'm not talking about improvements and things of that nature, I explicitly said the topography. You can easily see that the developers had no intent to "develop/populate" the topography outside of what is develop currently but that's not what I meant. The island itself is missing, exactly where you placed the red dot. I do also, that's why I made a mental note of it and asked in case there is a story behind it.

    Bahrain

I've only been there once and it was 30 years ago but I was sure I knew where Bahrain was located. Am I crazy or is it completely left off of the map? I understand it not being populated, but I don't even see the topography. Is there a reason its not on the map?
  14. First of all isn't Grim Reapers a Squadron of players. I think more than one person post under the GR moniker. That being said, some of the videos are hit and miss but it's not their fault. Its changes, seemingly unnecessary, made by the developers that cause frustration and confusion. I think they do their best to try and keep the videos updated but sometimes it may be too much. I tend to agree with you, to deny the obvious, whether you like them or not, is being deliberately obtuse.

    TDC Slew

Is this still an issue I'm having trouble slewing with my analog stick or buttons
  16. My curve is on 25 now, maybe I should just try increasing the curve?
  17. On the AV-8B I'm trying to use the analog stick, RX/RY axis, as the TDC slew. I didn't have any trouble mapping it to the mini stick but it is so sensitive I can't make the adjustments I need to make when trying to zero in on a target. I can get in the vicinity no problem, but once I try to put it firmly on target it moves to fast. Just a touch of the stick moves my targets out of view. Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of the stick in the DCS control options?
  18. Thanks for the response. You are spot on, you elaborated on everything I was implying and alluding to. Just like you I was bewildered by the guy's response. That's why I asked him to explain. Maybe there is a reason he didn't.
  19. What's so bad about competition? What do you find so negative about two independent companies competing for your business?
  20. I'm just saying when you have a game that has multiple independent developers competition can be a good thing for the consumer and a smart business model would use the competition and player hype to their advantage. They would be foolish not to. Think about it, $70 -$80 is a good chunk of money for some people to drop on a game module and probably are only willing or only have the cash for one or the other. Whoever comes first will get that segment of the player base, the other will "suffer" from it. Right now, from all of the hype, there are players with cash in hand ready to buy a module, regardless of the business it would be crazy from a business standpoint not to try to take advantage of that situation.
  21. Someone mentioned on another platform (I think Facebook) that a smart, savvy business would look at the F-15E coming out and its timeline and try to beat their release date. The unexpected release during a period where buyers are excited would steal Razbam's thunder for sure. It would be nice if Heatblur saw that opportunity and seized it.
  22. Cool, thanks for the feedback. Awesome username by the way!
  23. As I said earlier, I've used a trackball for GP for years. My dad gave me one he used about 20 years ago and I have been a fan of them since. I still use a traditional mouse for FPS and things like War Thunder/World of Tanks. That being said, I definitely am going to try the lefthanded trackball for DCS. I'm using a righthanded one as we speak, but as others have pointed out, using a lefthanded one allows you to keep your hand on the stick. I'm thinking about getting this one.
  24. Someone forgot to redact Brendan's name in ED's response.
  25. I would definitely be in the mix for a Jaguar. A great aircraft.
