  1. I actually fly the Mi-8MTV2 as a fixed wing.... with vertical take off possibilities. You do not lurk around with it as a KA-50. You fly tha Mi-8 as you fly the Mi-24 = flyeing more like a fixed wing in engagement. Tip of the day: Learn to use the hdg hold when at landing and take off. Also have the sas on. That will make the Mi-8 a fantastic rotor to land and take off with. Be carefull with the collective, and be patient and let it use the time it needs on the transition from flight to hoover.
  2. Not at all elegant, it's a terrible way of trim. It will never be implemented on a fixed wing. I guess you are a unexperienced fixed wing pilot.
  3. It's a lot to learn, but it's fun all the way.. I still learn things, and I have been flyeing for some time now. :smartass: You should get some of the F-16 BSM frinds to convert to DCS.
  4. I have been away from this forum for a while, and I can see that meny has commented on my coments. But read my words, it is written >FC3 "arkade" simulator<. Useing this >""< symbols around the word does not say that i think it is arkade, but more arkadeish.... Said in other words.. It's a more simplified simulator. Simulators comes in a wide vareities. Some are more realistic than others. Some has god physics, and some has god system simulations, some has got both of it. I do not think FC3 is a bad simulator, but it is more "arcade" than the other(DCS). "Everyone" knows this. Yes I may step on someones toes when I say this.... But maybe it is because they do not master or do not have time to learn the "high end" modules. Some people like to fly Arma and battelfield, and some like to fly DCS A-10 C
  5. Remember that you must buy Lock on(The old one) before you install FC3! And: Some of the FC3 planes will be separate downloads like A-10A and Su-25 (Both from flaming cliff 3) http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ FC3 planes are more arcade(simplified). A-10 C, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H and P51-D Is full and advanced simulators with cklicable cocpit. This is my top list: 1 A-10 C 2 Mi-8MTV2 Beta 3 Ka-50 4 UH-1H Beta I do not have P51-D Mustang A lot of 3rd party developers will release their planes(modules) soon (Top quality, full and realistic simulators like DCS/ED and some even better). Mig 21 Bis might get released 30.03.2014 Remember: A-10 A = FC3 "Arkade" simulator A-10 C = DCS Full simulator Id rather go for nvidia......
  6. EDGE and Nevada update http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1900652#post1900652 Good news, good news.... :pilotfly: EDGE before christmas? :santa:
  7. Well, i fly this helicopter as a plane. Onely takeoff, landing and other situations I use it's hoower capability. You do not fly this helicopter like the BS... lurking around... this one is big and heavy....
  8. What skouras says it true. The startup is easy, even though some that has not bought the Mi-8 complain that pit is in Russian. It's not a problem. It's easy and takes less time to learn than the KA-50 and A-10C. The Training tutorial in Mi-8 gets you started. Use this one from youtube also:
  9. Yes, I understand and agree to most of what you say, like i said in the beginning.... DCS-world main menu and web shop.... And also like you say, the module manager.... The point is that they need to Categorize the modules, or at least make some symbology that make out the difference between the modules. Information is also important. I think most people now understand what I am talking about, and more or less agree to what I am thinking about.
  10. Yes it is easy for you and me to understand what Flaming Cliffs is, and is not. But the reason why i wan't to categorize the moduels is not for me my selves but, but for new people that do not know what Flaming cliffs and DCS is. You and me knows what is coming through the forum, and what level of realism each modul will have. Other peoples might not have used time in this forum. I have been chatting with a lot of people on the multiplayer to tell them the differences between the moduels. Remember there is a lot of people that try out DCS - World because it is for free, but they do not know much about the modules and what to buy. I just want to make it easier for people that want's to try out DCS and use their money on it. Does DCS wan't peple that is not sattisfied with their products? Old marketing rules: A satisfied customer will give you 3 new customers. A dissatisfied customer will make you lose 10 potential customers. In this digital world with facebook etc, maybe you can multiply the rules with 10?
  11. If you do not have the module installed, then the icon has a $ sign to it, meaning that you can buy it. The whole point of the icons is that you are abel to see what modules that is installed, and what moduels is for sale. There is a reason to why the icons are placed at the startup screen, is it not?
  12. Yes, I allso agree to you're last statment.
  13. I think it will soon be time to categorize modules in DCS world main startupscreen and in you're web shop. Category: Studysimulator Easy/lowend simulator Maps Etc Especially the top two categories are important to ensure people know what they are buying. More information of the differences is allso important.
  14. Ells228: I think i misunderstod that statment. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89722&page=76
  15. There is onely one map(DCS World), and that is Georgia and some parts of Russia. There will be new maps in the future(Newada(US) is in the works). I recomend you to wait with the Flaming Cliffs 3. Like I said, most of the FC3 planes will be awailable through separate downloads soon. If you miss a fast mower, Mig 21 is soon out(probably before Christmas). The Hawk is comeing in the end of this month: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9MiJkQy4eg You can read about all the Third party projects in the forum :P http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=200 They are all goeing to be high end study simulators.
  16. Do not buy Flaming Cliffs 3. Most of the planes from Flaming Cliffs will be available through seperat downloads soon(Like the A-10A and SU25 today). There is some difference between the modules. SU-25 and Flaming Cliff 3 planes are low end simulators(Easy). The KA-50, A-10C, UH-1H, Mustang and Mi-8MTV2 is High end simulators(Study simulators where almost every button and its systems are simulated like in real life). I recomend you to by the A-10C if you like fixed wings. Soon we allso have Mig 21 Bis. Study sim examples: A-10 C startup: Mi-8MTV2 startup: This is onely the startup, you allso need to learn navigation, weapon systems, and defencive system etc. A lot to learn, yes. But it is funn all the way. I recomend you to buy Track IR 5 and a stick. Welcome to DCS world.
  17. It seems like that I can not rearm and refuel the Mi-8MTV2. Is there a bug or what? I have tried to open the dor also. Refuel Copy Rearm Copy Nothing happens.... But I am abel to repair the Mi-8 though. I have not any problems with the other modules I have.
  18. Even though you download 2 GB and 1 GB in the previous, the total amount innstalled will not be 3 GB more. Most of the files that you download has had some minor changes, and replaces the old ones without takeing more space. The modules do not take that much space. I downloaded the Mi-8MTV2, and if i am not wrang, it was onely a 220 MB download? The current version of DCS world is at 6.25 GB A-10C is at 1,22 GB
  19. This is a Simulator, and in a simulator you try to simulate the real thing. If the real thing does not have the option to turn of trim for the rudder, then it will not be possible in the simulator either. The Mi-8MTV2 (simulator) has as follows: 1 Trim for rudder, roll and pitch. Same functionallity as in KA-50 (One press on a button) 2 There is allso stabilizators(autopilot) for the same axces to help you. When aoutopilot is engage you can allso "trim" through the autopilot on the consoll. Use the three rotary switches behind. You can allso asign these to you're hat switch on the stick like I have done. But be aware that the trimrange through the aoutopilot is not that far/long, and is mostly for fine tuneing. You can allso see the autopilot trim ranges in the upper right corner in the wiev. When you adjust the autopilot trim you will se them move. Have one eye on these ranges while flyeing and hoovering, or else you might have a nasty surprise :P When hoovering and flyeing with the autopilot engaged, use the collective with slow and easy adjustments so the stabilizators/autopilot has time to "work" against you're input with the collective. Fast movements will cause the Mi8MTV2 to turn and roll even with the autopilote engaged. 3 At the same consoll you find Alt hold aoutopilot also. You need to know the limmits of the autopilot to safely fly with autopilot engaged. Know you're autopilot. This is true for all rotary and fixed wings :P What I have written above is what i have found through experimenting and is probably not 100 % corret. Sorry for my poor english
  20. It is Belsimtek that has made the UH - 1H and Mi-8, not ED. There is meny third party developers that is working on different moduls for DCS world.
  21. Same for me... Do not know my loading times, but it's loading fast, like it is for you. I have 2x SSD disks. One for Windows and one for DCS. 8 Gig RAM, Medium GPU, New Intel CPU, New mainboard etc And I have not reinstalled DCS since i got my new computer in May, onely auto updates so far. I have not seen any significant change in loading times since initial install. I love DCS-World. Fantastic, Easy(maintanence and updates) and Quality. I have: KA - 50 (II) (Retired) A-10C (Active) UH-1H (Sundays) I will buy: Mi 8 (Soon) (For sundays flyeing) Mig 21Bis (When it comes out) (Will be active) And other modules when they are available, mainly fixed wings... I'm not a rotor head...
  22. Did the 3rd party developers for the starfighter resign? I can't see them any more in the third party developer erea in the forum.
  23. You onely describe a link to a *.exe file. Starting a exe file through a link or from the main location folder is the same. If the DCS_updater.exe will not update, then it will not update even if you start it through a link or through the cmd (dos promt). Me and some other people has tried a lot of different advices in this thread, and it did not work. Wait 24 hours if none of the other advices works. :pilotfly: If 24 hours is a long wait - then play Total War - Rome II :punk: http://www.totalwar.com/en_us/rome2/
  24. For all of us that had problems yesterday, and was stuck at 1.2.5 after a faild update, and the updater that did not want to do a new update check and download. I spoke to a friend yesterday, and he told me that I just needed to wait 24 hours, and then the auto updater would check for a new update....... And It worked. So if you get problems with the auto updater. Wait 24 hours. I love DCS World!!!! Have a nice flight.
  25. Update Problems 1.2.6 Anybody else have a update problem? When I started DCS today, it started downloading DCS World 1.2.6. But it did not download/install correct. Now I'm Stuck at 1.2.5 because it will not start the update again. I also try the DCS_Updater.exe in Bin folder, but that does not work. DCS world starts without updating. Sulotions to the problem? Anyboddy?
