The following screen is me looking back over my right shoulder. Im not sure why this is happening or how to fix it the right way... I can fix it by turning of the reflection but not my 1st choice...I like my lift lines. Any sugestions would be much appreciated.

just making sure im not being misquoted. :)

I never said it was proof positive? All I said was look at the data.

However it does say that the airframe with the weakest radar has the most victorys. I also believe it shows Mig29s vs F15...in which case the F15 is the Migs bitch.
-
Sure it is...at this moment most of the red bird capabilities are modeled; yes they have some issues as well. However they can still perform with in their designed strengths, thus with in there tactical arena. The red fighter philosophy has be achieved. On the other hand the F15c strengths are not properly modeled at this time. To use the 15 as anything other then a BVR fighter is taking it out of its strongest arena thus not allowing it to perform with in its tactical strength. This means the philosophy; the thinking of its tactical role is in question. Yes you can say the missiles; radar, thrust to weight ratio, and etc. are the issue. Yes they are an issue but I think it goes deeper and I’m saying they are the results of my theory. I not trying to throw stones at ED…I’m just saying that ED didn’t model a realistic arena for the F15c and it’s based on not achieving the required philosophy for what ever reason that might be.

I think it’s porked mostly because the over all philosophy for the F15 has not been really consider or modeled. As most of you know the Russian philosophy for the most part was to over whelm the enemy with over numbering forces or aircraft. This is evident in the fact that red bird radar has not been designed with a radar platform the can engage multiple targets, however from what I understand this has changed with newer airframes. As part of the Russian philosophy but not all, stealth is a another big part combining it with GCI is another factor. This is why the EOS is so deadly as well as fits perfectly into the equation. For the most part this philosophy is achieved in lockon. The problem is the philosophy behind the F15 is not. The F15 is a flying radar platform. It was a plane designed and made around its radar. This is why the F15 has a huge nose, it’s all radar. It has been reported to be able to pick up trucks driving on the ground on a regular bases. Its reported to track Migs at 80nm. The F15 was designed to be able to counter the Russian philosophy of over whelming numbers and stealth with its radar platform and missiles…in real life beating a 120 in a NOE is almost impossible. Here is link to show some Lockon stats thanks to the 504th. Look down to the Mig-29s kill ratio against all other airframes. Odd that the airframe with the weakest radar is so dominate over all the competition. http://www.syn-ack.com/vvs504/stats/vvs504-aircraft.shtml The point is that the F15c was designed to counter this by getting into a wall formation and paint everything in front of it and fly straight at the enemies over whelming numbers or not. Then engage the multiples at BVR with it TWS then break off after missiles go active and get out. The whole idea is to keep the bandit at BVR, which is the only counter to a sneaky, stealthy enemy use GCI. Don’t let them get close. The F15 philosophy is to be bold, cocky, in your face, and radar blaring. The F15c has not been coined the BVR king for nothing. The philosophies are some what balanced in real life. In lockon the Russian philosophy has been modeled. The F15 has not. My 2 cents.

I’m with gg on this. When you are as focused on mutual support and realistic procedures as we are at the 44th every sortie has its challenges and rewards. The benefit for us staying with the F15 is that the team will get stronger. You can never stop learning how to be a better teammate. That’s what the 44th is all about, teamwork!!

New idea (Mad) controllable SAM
44th Eagle replied to Kusch's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I agree, this would be a awsome addition. It would also matter how well it was modeled. -
The part about not many are intrested is not true? I think you need to show some availablity before you say this.
-
SwingKid is there any data on the subject? I would love to see that. :)

I think everyone that is so concerned with the earth resources should walk the walk. Give up the plane trips, the cars, stop using those precious resources to heat your homes. Leave them for us non-environment whackos, who tend to be the optimists of the world. I put my faith in bigger things then men and their egos.
-
I always find it funny how big and mighty men think they are. To think that 6.5 billion people can destroy the earth resources in 100-200 years is far fetched. If you take a city the size of Jacksonville Florida (758.7 sq miles) and extend its land area to a total of 3.25 times its original. If every single person on the face of the earth (6.5 billion) could stand in one of its 1ft x 1ft squares, it would contain the entire worlds population.

Missiles much better FM and kill ratio
44th Eagle replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes I noticed this as well the other day on the 504th. Jumped on and found it to be very hard wasn’t able to stay on long enough to see what was the cause, but I’m thinking that missile performance issues might be the cause. In some testing we found that the 27er has as much as 8nm longer reach in our tests. Couple this with the so-called speed fix released a patch or to ago has forced F15 to have to be way more defensive if it want to stay alive. In my opinion F15 is just about out classed now by all three of red fighters. -
Lockon's F15 --> Absolute air superiority?

Ghost, I didnt know ARH rejection was going to be better...good news. -
Lockon's F15 --> Absolute air superiority?
44th Eagle replied to junae's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hum...I have been one of those! I have heard 120s are going to better then 7s from others as well. It seems to me that this would be very unrealistic in the example I stated above if chaff is not in direct LOS of radar to target and give a better return then the airframe. I know that doesnt make it so in lockon but seems silly to keep degrading missiles to perform worse as a fix to make another missile work better.....dont it? -

44th Eagle replied to junae's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I’m also aware of the chaff issue and do also think that after the SARH get there chaff adjustment this will effect the POK of the SARH but it is my hope that a head to head forward hemisphere launch will not be beat by chaff place out side of the LOS of the radar and the target. The 120s are sucker for this do to its poorly modeled radar/ seeker. This F15 radar is a lot better of keeping track of the target then the 120. So I hope the SARH does not get nerfed as well. I think if it doesn’t this tactic should still work against bandits trying to drag back and forth to drain missile energy as mentioned by Pilotasso? All thumbs up on BVR being better in 1.2, keeping fingers and toes crossed! -
Lockon's F15 --> Absolute air superiority?
44th Eagle replied to junae's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I usually cary a load out of 2 or 3 Aim-7 and i get about half of my kills with the 7. Its a shame the slammer is such a nerf. -
Lockon's F15 --> Absolute air superiority?
44th Eagle replied to junae's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hey Pilotasso, I solved this a while back. Its called a Aim-7. Its funny to watch a low flying mig drag back and forth trying to drain Aim-120 energy, while a Aim-7 is closing. It gets them almost everytime. Combine a F-pole with a aim-120 and a aim-7 problem solved. It works with Flankers to just have to be a little more careful. :) -
Lockon's F15 --> Absolute air superiority?
44th Eagle replied to junae's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Lockon at its current state doesn’t model BVR very good. A missile launch at BVR ranges is a wasted missile, unfortunately. Pilots with a little experience can trash missiles < Rnoe pretty consistently. Missiles need to be redone desperately in my opinion. However, dog fighting is another thing. I think ED has modeled performance issues pretty good. The F15C is pretty good in a turn fight but isn’t the best. If you study some performance charts (http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_097a.html) you can learn to work you airframe to its advantage as while as taking away your bandits strengths. -
Humm...I’m not sure we are playing the same game! Mad dogging a 120 is all but useless unless the missile can start tracking you as soon as it leaves the rail. Just if by some chance its seeker picks you up in a BVR fight and you are engaging in a disciplined manner, beating this by now low energy missile should be easy. You should be able to spoof it easily. I have found that beating a 120 and a 77 are very easy these days. A 120 is even easier since its has a lot less energy which was reduced recently. I have changed my typical payload is a direct result. I now carry 4-5 aim-120s, 2-3 aim-7s with a aim-9 or 2 thrown in at times. I can truly say that when I launch a 120 under any situation, I have very little confidence it’s going to hit. With a semi-active it’s a totally different story. I have afar-greater POK percentage with the sparrows. And, Its not a weapons envelope issue either. It’s a missile performance issue. I for one am looking forward to when the missiles get reworked. I’m hoping they break the missiles down as independent systems that need to work together to achieve the task at hand.

Great news for the hardcore sim market...
44th Eagle replied to Galaad's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I guess I will chim in on this to.....LOMAC is a great example of what a flight sim graphics can look like. While on the other hand F4 is a great example of DC and avionics. Each of them have there down falls but both of them combined would rock! I enjoy them both. Each of them have set the bar for the future. Now lets wait and see if Fighter Ops, Lockon 2, etc gives us what we want. -
I cant seem to get the Radar Slew Hoizontal for russian aircraft to work when i asign it to a axis. I have a X52 and have tried to set it up on rotory 2. I also tried it on rotory 1 to see if it would work. It shows no respones on either. thx

In 1.1 the RPMs only go up to about 103% while the guage goes up to 110% is this correct? If it is not how do you calabrate to get max RPMs? Thx.

Great topic..... LOMAC is a good sim but if ED wants to go to the next level in flighter sims I would like to see some/ all of these things in the next product. 1) much improved AI is a must 2) a/g radar for strike aircraft for SEAD is needed big time. 3) Strike Aircraft!!!!!!! F15E, how can you leave out the Strike Eagle? 3) A new mission editor system with many more options. This might have to be rebuilt from the ground up. 4) Carrier Ops 5) Expanded map...more countrys in the theater of operations! 6) Neutral countrys and neutral borders that will not or will let you fly there air space depending on the politics. a. Fighter aircraft that CAP their airspace and are politcal neutral unless forced to engage. b. Neutral aircraft..like airliners, private jets, little props planes. 7) A realistic IFF system or lack of. Depending on the contact...all contacts should be This is just some aditions I would like to see. Of course improved avioics and missile logic as well as ground based threats need to be vastly improved. Only time will tell....Im hopeful that ED will strive to push their work to next level! Keep up the good work ED!
